(L to R) Shadow Carson & Shadow's Shadow
What follows is an E-mial I received a week or so, which I would like to share with all of my pards here at the Campsite. I have had no end of trouble trying to get a readable image. Shadow's Shadow said that I could condense the letter if I wanted, but I felt you should be able to read it in its entirity. This is the best I could do-----SO---it'll have to do.
*************LINKS*************
The Grizz is constantly scouring the web for links that I think might interest those of you who visit the Campsite on a regular basis. Sort of like circuit riders. I try to find sites that will be of interest not only to Shooters and the like, but also to those pards who are intriged with other aspects of the "Cowboy Way" I'm sure there are sites that I kinda' pass over which might be of interest, so, when you visit one of the 'GRIZZLY LINKS" , look around at their link pages , because you never know, you may just find a little gem there that I missed. And if'in you do, how about sending it on to us so we can take another look.
We have had alot of response to our B-Western Movie Links. Seems like there is a great deal of interest in Western Movies, Old & New, among cowboy shooters and other folks who just surf in to see what the campsite is all about. Well the old Grizz is a western Movie Buff too. SO.....I have added a new page dedicated soley to the silver screen heros.(and villians) Check out the "SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT THE MOVIES PAGE" for as they say "a return to yesteryear)
Most of the Grizzly links are "Old West" stuff with a few exceptions like the LADY SHOOTER page which has information especially for the cowgirls out there (the cowboys may find some interesting info there, or on some of "LADY SHOOTER's" links. You may want to take a look at the "GUNGUY" and the " GUNTRUTHS" links off of LADYSHOOTER's webpage.
MYSTERY LINKEvery once in a while I come across a link that I think might just grab your interest. It may be a Vendor's site, commerical product which is new or "neat" It might be a CAS's personal website. You never know until you check it out !

By Hunter Scott Anderson aka BOUNTY HUNTER Krause Publications (www.krause.com)
Well here's the book to help us do just that. IT WILL NOT TEACH US HOW TO SHOOT, but it WILL TEACH US TO SHOOT BETTER. This book is filled with all of the tips, tricks and stategies, that will make us more accurate, speed us up and help us to be more efficient in our running through the stages. There are chapters and photos to help correct all the little time robbing mistakes most of us don't even know we are making. But one thing we have to realize - just buying the book and sleeping with it in our bedroll won't help. You have to practice. This book is loaded with "right way" & " wrong way " photos. Believe the Ole Grizzly Bear, if you happen to have a little silver to spare, there are worse ways to spend it. 5 Tips of the Ten Gallon Hat to this one, folks.
*********************************************************************************************** 1/25/00 Well here it is Cowboys, "THE" reference book of sixgun shooters. Yep, its Elmer Keith's Book "SIXGUNS by KEITH". First published by Stackpole Company in 1955 and revised in 1961 (I bought mine in '62). Folks this is the book that had it all. history, technical information and practical sixgun shooting by the father of the .44 magnum. Elmer is gone now (God rest his soul) but this book will live on forever. Elmer was one of the greatest gunwriters of our time, or anytime, for that matter. He wrote in the pages of GUNS & AMMO Magazine until just before his death. Keith lived through the changing of the old west and was born and raised in Montana where his boyhood mentors were Indian fighters, vigilantes, lawmen & gunfighters of the passing frontier. He was outspoken in his ideas of what a sixgun was meant to be, and imparted much of his wisdom in the pages of this book. He has influenced shooters and gunwriters alike for more than half a century. During the middle '60's the Grizz was a club delegate to few NRA conventions where I met Elmer, and believe me cowboys, in the ten gallon hat (really) and boots, he was every bit as impressive in real life as he was in print. So if any of you cowboys fancy yourself as a student of the sixgun, and have not read this book, you are really missing something great. And for the younger shooters out there who have never heard of Elmer or read any of his writings, let youself in for a real treat and scout up a copy of this great book. A check of the Amazon.com website shows that in 1992 Wolfe Publishing (Handloader Magazine) reprinted this book in a paperback version which is still available for $29.95 ( a real deal). You may also be able to find it a one of the book dealers who frequent most of the gun shows.
******************************************************************************************************* 1/25/00 While we are at it, I might as well tell you a little about another book devoted entirely to the sixgun. This time it is John Taffin's "BIG BORE SIXGUNS" (which I mentioned in my review of his CAS book). This book has lots of photos for you cowboys who just like to look at pictures and don't want to read too much. But if you like to read, there is a wealth of up to date info on the big bores (.357 Mag. and up) there are chapters on cap & ball sixguns, hunting, silhouette shooting, CAS, and just about anything else you can think of when it comes to revolver shooting and the the like. I find myself referring to this book quite often and sometimes it just makes " a good read" on a cold winter's night. I like this book, I really do and it's still in print. I have seen it freqently on the shelves of both Barnes & Noble and Bibelot. If they don't have it on hand, I'm sure they can get you a copy.
