TIME TO SIGN UP FOR FALL CLASSES!
So, how’s your spiritual journey? This fall, we have three exciting classes scheduled:
The Alpha Course - Thursdays, starting Sept. 17 (6:30 to 9:15 PM)
Jane Beswick and Rev. Bruce have been working on getting the details together for our fall Alpha Course. It all begins with a Celebration Dinner on Saturday, September 12. All the class members from the spring course, will be inviting their family members and friends to celebrate with them their completion of the Alpha Course, and the guests will get to hear what kind of impact the course had on the participants.
Even if you don’t know anyone who took the course last time, you may come to the dinner to see what the Alpha Course is all about.. You too may sign up for the course. If you’d like to make dinner reservations for that evening, or wish to be added to the roster for the fall course, please see or contact Jane Beswick at 301-934-5344.
DISCIPLE-I Classes Offered - Thursdays, Starting Sept. 24 (7:00 to 9:30 PM)
Tammy Gausman will take the lead on Disciple I, sharing God's word in this wonderful class. The Disciple I course is entitled "Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study" and is 34 weeks. It will run through the spring. It moves through scripture from Genesis to Revelation covering more than 70% of the Bible. It is awesome, intense, and life-changing.
DISCIPLE-II Classes Offered - Thursday, Starting Sept. 24 (7:00 to 9:30 PM)
Bright’s Disciple II Class will be going on at the same time as Disciple I. You have to have completed Disciple I before you can take any of the other Disciple classes. Bright will be available in the Narthex for you to sign up or ask any questions.
“Protestant Denominations” - Five Mondays, starting Sept. 14 (7:30 to 9:00 PM)
Rev. Bruce is already preparing for his first class of the fall, Protestant Denominations. This class can be taken without pre-requisites, but is a follow-up of sorts to the class on World Religions. We will look at the origins of churches such as the Lutheran, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, and others.
You may begin to sign up for this class, by writing "Denominations” on the pad or email me now.

WALK THRU THE BIBLE SEMINAR
It is with much excitement that we announce that we have been able to secure dates for two Walk Thru the Bible Seminars. Walk Thru the Bible is a fascinating journey touching the major themes of the Bible. As each story is retold, hand motions and body movements are involved. Each motion helps us remember the story.
Please go directly to your calendar and write these two dates down. The first will be the Old Testament only, and it will be held in our church on Saturday, January 10, 2010 from 9
AM to 4 PM.
Many of you have perhaps heard of Walk Thru the Bible, or have friends or relatives who have gone through it. It is one of most meaningful and helpful experiences one can have along their
spiritual journey. Here’s how the Old Testament section is laid out:
Session 1 – Genesis: From Creation to Egypt
Session 2 – Exodus to Deuteronomy: From Captivity to the Promised Land
Session 3 – Joshua to 1 Kings 11: From Conquest to a United Kingdom
Session 4 – 1 Kings 12 – Esther/Nehemiah: From Divided Kingdom & Exile to Return
The schedule includes breaks and lunch, but the whole time will be filled with activity, action, memory keys, and songs. Each session is about an hour and fifteen minutes, with a 15 to 20
minute break between the morning sessions, and between the afternoon sessions. A longer break is taken for lunch in the middle. This will be so much fun, that by the time the New Testament day comes along, many more people will want to do it.
Session 1 – 400 Years of Silence: God prepares the world for the coming of Christ
Session 2 – Life of Christ-Part I: From Birth to Transfiguration
Session 3 – Life of Christ-Part II: From Opposition to Resurrection
Session 4 – Acts and the Epistles: From Jerusalem to the Ends of the Earth
The goals of these sessions are laid out in the Walk Thru the Bible material:
1 - Walk through the major people, places, and events of the Old/New Testament
2 - Arrange the major people, places, and events in chronological order
3 - Locate the major geographical movements of the Old/New Testament
4 - Know the key words for the Old/New Testament Books
5 - Tie together the structure of the Old/New Testament Books
6 - Understand some life-changing applications from the Old/New Testament
7 - Rekindle the desire/commitment to read the Bible and pray on a daily basis.
Here are what some people have said about their Walk Thru the Bible experiences:
"I just wanted to express thanks for allowing us to host the Walk-Thru-The-Bible seminars at Dover AFB. In my estimation, they were a great success with even more than we had anticipated in attendance! Keith and Cindy were absolutely phenomenal! Ever since Saturday, I have had MUCH additional positive feedback not only in how effective they proved to be in learning the great story of the Old Testament but all the wonderful LIFE-APPLICATIONS that were taught with it as well! Thank you so much for partnering with us in God’s work at Dover AFB! By His grace and for His glory!"
Chaplain Mike Hendrick
436 Maintenance Group/Communication Squadron Chaplain, Dover AFB
"We can't say enough good things about the New Testament
seminar! Pastor Keith Hammer was stellar! We all greatly enjoyed and benefited from his teaching of the Old Testament the first time that he was with us, but this time he was especially anointed. The seminar was fun, unbelievably informative (all the things we didn't know!) but most of all
it reached into the spiritual realm and showed us Jesus and His
ways. Difficult to verbalize adequately, I know, however it was a rare encounter for what was essentially a lively classroom teaching. An anointed teacher does that. And your program is a worthy vehicle to facilitate that depth of learning. Thank you so very much."
