Quote of the Day

"A wise person speaks carfully and with truth, for every word that passes between one's teeth is meant for something." -Arthur Lee Smith (1988)

The Youth of the FUTURE!

"You will be more disappointed by the things you haven't done than by the things you have. So sail away from the harbor and catch all the trade winds in your sails. Dream. Explore. and Discover." -Mark Twain

Too many of us youth today enter middle school and high school with severe handicaps.Drugs and alcohol have poisoned our minds and aborted our ability to concentrate on what is important in life. Such as: school, living a kids life, fulfilling our dreams, etc. We have constantly been told to stay in a childs place and do what children do but without the correct parental guidance how do we know what that is. We have continuously suppressed these feelings and hidden them from the world until it builds up so deeply inside of us that we end up expressing it in the wrong way. Be it drugs, alcohol, gang violence, etc. But under the cover of darkness in thought we as the youth have found ways to express the way we feel through art, poetry, and song and not just through violence.

This site was created for the "soul" purpose of expressing those feelings and letting the world know that we do understand, like Marvin Gaye sings, whats going on, we do have feelings, and a child's place is not always outside in the street playing or stuck in front of a TV. We have found that place in writing, sports, and music and now we have chosen to express these feelings and show the world we are in a child's place, in our minds eye, we just need our adventures in this place to be guided to a higher calling. And now we will begin this journey here with the start of a simple web page until it grows into something much bigger. Maybe a youth movement or a youth save the world crusade. Who knows? We just have to dream, explore, and discover.

"Give me a place to stand...And i will move the world." -Archimedes

My first small award winning poem  Written by Timothy Thompkins Student at Northwestern High School - Baltimore, Maryland

Illusions

Illusions flow through my mind like disturbing memories of dying relatives who feed me disturbing lines. People griping in the middle of the night click-click Sha clack-clack. Police sirens with no break, I fight with sleep to try not to stay awake. The landlord yells at the Robinsons for his rent but they have no heat so they don't give in. I pray to the Lord to forgive me for every sin, but He turns on me like He turned on Jesus at Calvary. Friends push me, do it, do it, but I try to fight the agony of killing again. The dog stares into the headlight with mercy in its eyes and I cry with mercy for the pain that I feel inside. My back up is an angel in heaven pulling me away from the darkness and into the light, and I fight with all my might to walk into the light. My mind is turning and spinning with Illusions and thoughts cause a soul is something that can never be bought. Pick'n, pick'n people, pick'n causing kids to kill, false prophets puttin ideas in your mind that are not real. Young girls raped and little girls missing, and I pray ever so hard and ask the Lord to listen. I feel the pain but after pain comes joy and I live another day to face these Illusions once more.

My Personal Feelings
My birthday is January the 3rd and it is fast approaching. I will be turning 18 hoorraayy! I got to thinking the other day, when i was filling out one of my college applications, what have i done to make the world a better place? This thought was conjured up because one of my essay questions asked for me to write about my contribution to my community and if not make a question of my own. As most people would do i chose my own question. Then i began to think, what have i done to make my community a better place? And i felt as though i did nothing, yet i constantly complain about how if this or that was done how it could be better. My grandmother came up with the idea of starting a website that allowed the youth to speak their minds, since she knew i liked to write poetry and i thought it wasn't such a bad idea. Even though it is kind of late to try and change the world now one should always remember that it is better late than never.

Never let the world tell you that you are no good because God made everyone for a reason you just have to find your destiny and fulfill your dreams.
