THE BODACIOUS BABES OF BOWIE (BBB)
We are a play group for women. We encourage our members to take a little time out for themselves occasionally, to play with their friends and participate in activities they find enjoyable. In other words, we offer women one thing: RECESS!
OUR BELIEFS
A strong woman works every day to keep her body in shape...but a woman of strength builds relationships to keep her soul in shape. A stong woman isn't afraid of anything...but a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear. A stong woman won't let anyone get the best of her...but a woman of strength gives the best of her to everyone. A stong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future...a woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be unexpected blessings and capitalizes on them. A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face...but a woman of strength wears grace. A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey...but a woman of strenth has the faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong.
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE one old love she can imagine going back to... and one who reminds her how far she has come... A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .... enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own even if she never wants to or needs to... A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ... something perfect to wear if the employer or date of her dream s wants to see her in an hour... A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ... a youth she's content to leave behind.... A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .... a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to retelling it in her old age.... A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..... a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra... A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .... one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry... A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ... a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family... A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .... eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored... A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .... a feeling of control over her destiny... EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... how to fall in love without losing herself.. EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... HOW TO QUIT A JOB, BREAK UP WITH A LOVER, AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP.... EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNO W ... when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY... EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... that she can't change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents.. EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... that her childhood may not have been perfect...but its over... EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... what she would and wouldn't do for love or more... EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it... EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... whom she can trust, whom she can't, and why she shouldn't take it personally... EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... where to go... be it to her best friend's kitchen table... or a charming inn in the woods... when her soul needs soothing... EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW... what she can and can't accomplish in a day... a month...and a year...

Event Description:
COME join The Red Hatters of MSA at Colonial Beach Virginia for a day of sun and fun.
Bring a dish, bring your swimwear, bring your towel, bring your umbrella, bring a chair, bring a blanket, and a BOWL FULL of CHEER, FUN, and Laughter!
Bring your entire Chapter. Your cost is gas, food, and fun. Arrival time is when ever you get there. We will be there from sun up to sun down, and would love to see you there.

ROAD TRIP
I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn't suit me And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals and say we've no money for butter I shall sit down on the payemant when I'm tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain And pick the flowers in other people's gardens And learn to spit. You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat And eat three pounds of sausages at a go Or only bread and pickle for a week And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes But now we must have clothes that keep us dry And pay our rent and not swear in the street And set a good example for the children. We will have our friends to dinner and read the papers. But maybe I ought to practice a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised When suddenly I am old and start to wear purple.
We meet Once Monthly, First Saturday of each month we'll meet in public and dazzle them with our brilliant style! The end of the month we participate in other RHS chapter events.
The Red Hat Society resulted from the giving for one birthday gift. In November 1997, Sue Ellen Cooper, (Fullerton, California) presented her dear friend, Linda Murhpy, with a red hat and a copy of the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph. The Orginial intent was that Linda hang the hat on a hook next to the framed poem, as a decorative reminder to loosen up as she got older. Other friends of Sue Ellen expressed an interest in receiving the same gift as they reached their 50th birthdays.

We believe silliness is the comdey relief of life, and since we are all in it together, we might as well join red-gloved hands and go for the gusto together. REQUIREMENTS OF THE BBB
Everyone must agree to wear the proper clothing denoting her membership at each event. Red and Purple if she is 50 or over and Pink and Lavender if she is under 50. Those under 50 are known as pink hatters or ladies in waiting. We encourage new members to join us, both Red and Pink Hatters!
