Welcome to the Evening Star Quilters website...

Founded in 1991, the Evening Star Quilters of Davison, Michigan strive to promote and preserve the art of quilting, patchwork, applique, and related fiber arts.

We sponsor educational activities to encourage the sharing of information and to maintain communications with the support of area quilting organizations.

We like to demonstrate the cultural and historical values of the art of quilting to the community, and to engage in charitable efforts.

About Us...

The Evening Star Quilters have approximately 150 members who pay yearly dues of $30.00, with seniors paying $25.00 a year, and new members are always welcome.

The Evening Star Quilters encourages visits from guests and invites them to take part in two regular meetings free of charge before becoming a member. In the event that a speaker is scheduled during the time of a visit, applicable presentation fees would apply in order to participate. If further attendance is desired thereafter, individuals are welcome to join the guild as a member.

Our meetings are traditionally held on the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Davison-Richfield Senior Center on 10135 Lapeer Road in Davison, with doors opening at 6:00 p.m.

We have a wonderful hospitality group and are a fun, friendly group of individuals who enjoy participating in the following events:
  • 50/50 Drawings
  • Birthday Club Fat Quarters
  • Blotto
  • Charm Squares
  • Monthly Newsletters
  • Monthly Show-N-Tell
  • Quilting Library
  • SafeHouse Charity Donations
  • Workshops and Lectures by Professional Quilt Instructors

Lecture: Nacho Grandma's Quilts
Presented by Raymond K. Houston

Please join the Evening Star Quilters on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 6:30 p.m., as we welcome Raymond K. Houston of Nacho Grandma's Quilts.

Admission for the lecture is $5 per person for non-guild members.

You may have seen Raymond on Simply Quilts, but you may not know, “You can call me Raymond K. Houston. You can call me a middle-aged African-American man with a passion for quilting. You cannot call me grandma. Yet, people make that comparison when I tell them I quilt. I often hear “You Quilt? My grandma quilts.”

The Evening Star Quilters will also be having a half-day class with Raymond Houston prior to his evening program on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. called “Symmetry Play”. Pre-registration is required, and the cost for the class is $25.

For a registration form and/or additional details, please see the flyer located on the “Guild Happenings & Challenges” page of our website.

  Consignment Booth

The Evening Star Quilters will have their very own consignment booth at our upcoming quilt show in July. Members can take advantage of this opportunity to make some fast cash and to help their guild out at the same time.

Beautiful hand made items will be shown off and displayed, with the member getting 90% of the profit and the guild getting 10% of the profit for sold items. Items must be new and hand made, but are not limited to just quilting items. Clothing, pillowcases, wall hangings, crocheted or knitted items, dolls, embroidery, and beaded items are just a sampling of what could be submitted.

We know there is a lot of talent out there, so don’t be shy!

For additional details and a Consignment Booth Form, please consult the “Links Section” on the left hand side of this page.

It’s a Block Party!!!

New Home Sewing Center of Mount Morris is hosting “block parties” during the first and second week of each month to work on charity quilts.

The first week has get-togethers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and the second week has get-togethers on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the activities, which begin around 10:00 a.m. and could involve block preparation, quilt-top construction, binding, etc. Otherwise, feel free to bring your own charity quilt projects to work on.

If you have any questions or would like additional details, please contact Sharon Baxendale of New Home Sewing Center at (810) 686-4600.
  Signing In for Guild Meetings...

The next time you visit the Davison-Richfield Senior Center for a guild meeting, you will notice a new and exciting way of signing in.

MySeniorCenter™, which uses a scan-card and scanning mechanism, is a graphically driven and friendly technology solution that eliminates sign-in sheets. This resource will help our friends at the Davison-Richfield Senior Center minimize data entry and automate the sign in process.

If you have not already taken advantage of this wonderful new way of signing in, please call or stop by the Davison-Richfield Senior Center today. They are available Monday thru Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at 10135 Lapeer Road in Davison and their telephone number is (810) 658-1566.
