The state MMAP (Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program) website: www.medicare.gov or follow link at bottom of page. The Burnside Center has a Medicare Office to assist seniors with Medicare concerns. Call 517-278-0285 or 800-803-7174 for an appointment or to leave message

The state MICAFE (Michigan's Coordinated Access to Food for the Elderly) website: www.MiCAFEonline.org or follow link at bottom of page or call 1-877-664-2233 to find a site near you. A senior who is age 60 or older on a limited income may be eligible for the Michigan Bridge Card. The Bridge Card is money to buy food. Benefits range from $10 - $140 a month. The average monthly benefit is $60 a month. Call the Burnside Center at 517-279-6565 to make an appointment with a MICAFE Counselor.

Card Games - Euchre, Bridge, Pinochle, Cribbage, Hand and Foot Canasta, Train Dominos, and Bingo. Any senior is welcome to come and take part.

Pool Players - men and women with all levels of playing skills are welcome to join in the fun. A weekly tournament and a monthly tournament are held.

Computer - Beginning classes are started every four-months with an instructor. The class is an easy way to learn you way around the computer world. Members taking the class are encouraged to participate in the Computer Club meetings held weekly. This is an interactive participation group that learns from each other new ideas and techniques.

Art & Paint Classes - Beginning art and the more advanced art methods are taught in the special classes.

Ceramic Classes with students working on their own projects under the direction of the instructor is very rewarding.

Cooking Classes - Classes are presented in various areas. Learning to cook for diabetic needs, low fat, cooking for one are offered. Also classes in ethnic dishes, cooking with chocolate, and holiday cooking are available.

Woodshop - is a fully equipped shop for making large and smaller items. An instructor is available if assistance is needed.

Wood Carvers - meet weekly to share their talents and create new items.

Stained Glass class meets weekly and participants are able to work on projects at their leisure other times during the week. Trips are taken by the class to purchase materials necessary for their projects.

Trips - Both day and overnight trips are designed for senior interest and enjoyment. Walking is limited and luggage is handled so seniors do not have to worry about carring suitcases, etc.

Lecture Series - Monthly health topics - Community Health Center of Branch County --- Special Topics - Finance, Nutrition, Safety, and more topics of interests.

Volunteering - Volunteers are always welcome and play a very important role helping at the center in many areas. Assisting with the reception desk, dining room, gift shop, office, and teaching a class is a great opportunity to join friends and contribute your time in a meaningful way.

Boards - Seniors are encouraged to serve on the Board of Directors, Advisory Board or the Area Agency on Aging III-C Advisory Board though the senior center.

Good Time Band - if you like music you are encouraged to join this group of seniors that play very unique instruments. Their enjoyment is quickly passed on to the audience for a wonderful performance.

Dances - Special Theme dances are held monthly with live music.
