The state MMAP (Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program) website: www.medicare.gov or follow link at bottom of page. The Burnside Center has a Medicare Office to assist seniors with Medicare concerns. Call 517-278-0285 or 800-803-7174 for an appointment or to leave message

The state MICAFE (Michigan's Coordinated Access to Food for the Elderly) website: www.MiCAFEonline.org or follow link at bottom of page or call 1-877-664-2233 to find a site near you. A senior who is age 60 or older on a limited income may be eligible for the Michigan Bridge Card. The Bridge Card is money to buy food. Benefits range from $10 - $140 a month. The average monthly benefit is $60 a month. Call the Burnside Center at 517-279-6565 to make an appointment with a MICAFE Counselor.

The Primary Mission of the Branch County Commission on Aging is to Establish and Provide Services for the Elderly of Branch County by Encouraging, Promoting, and Safeguarding the Rights and Abilities of our Seniors so they may enjoy Maximum Health, Well-being, and Independence.

 
Information  NEW HOURS - Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

The H. & C. Burnside Senior Center, is for all Branch County citizens aged fifty plus. The building is easily accessible for all seniors with its one floor design. The open atrium reflects a warm, welcoming atmosphere where you will be greeted by one of the many volunteers. The greeter is ready to answer questions, direct you to a class or assist you with program information. The north wing (Activity Wing) hosts most of the programs and looks over the newly established garden area. The south wing hold the Grahl Room where lectures and meetings are held. Also the day care for senior respite is located at the end of the wing. The east wing holds the computer lab, clinic, and dining area. Parking is available in both the front and back of the building.

The Center is designed for seniors and they are encouraged to come and spend time visiting, learning, volunteering and just enjoying themselves as they share their day with friends. There is no enrollment fee for the Center.

The building is open 8AM - 4:30PM - Monday, Wednesday and Friday.Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. The building is closed during recognized holiday times.

A Three month calendar of scheduled activities is run in the the Shopper's Guide four times a year. Other marketing events can be found in the Daily Reporter newspaper, on the radio and cable TV, as well as in the reception area at the center.
