  THIS IS THE OFFICAL PARENT ORGANIZATION OF HENRY FORD ACADEMY. Henry Ford Academy has an active parent organization which meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in the Performance Room, Hamp (museum) Campus.

The objective of this organization is to support the Academy in ways that increase student achievement, support the Academy goals, improve the Academy's physical plant and support student activities through fundraising.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
  • Work Permits and Transcripts Students needing a work permit or a copy or their transcript over the summer break are to email Mr. Enright renright@hfa.spfs.k12.mi.us. Requests will be processed every Monday.
  • Community Service Opportunities for Students: YWCA SUMMER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

    Refugee Summer Learning Academy (Across from Oakland Mall).

    • **Volunteers will be working with refugee families from war torn countries such as Iraq.
    • Students will be working with kids doing various activities including sports, nutrition, computers, scrapbooking, skits, teambuilding, and day camp stuff such as horse back riding, hayrides. This program is to help refugee kids adjust to American culture, while celebrating their own culture.
    • Program runs from 9:30am-3:30pm Monday-Friday at Lutheran Social Services near Oakland Mall.
    • 2 sessions: July 13th-July 17th and July 20-August 14th.
    • If you can only volunteer certain days and weeks, please indicate this on your application.
    • All applicants must submit to a Criminal Backgroup Check (just have to fill out form attached to application).


    Downtown Detroit Summer Fitness Camp (Grand River Ave and Warren, Detroit, MI) at CROCKETT.

    • **Will take all volunteers, but also in need of people passionate about soccer and other sports to help out with the program- again- will take all volunteers, but if this fits a description of you, please make sure to indicate on your application as they are looking for people to be a coach for the kids and people who want to increase their coaching skills!!!
    • Volunteer will be acting as mentors for younger students. This is a fitness camp, so kids will be doing different sporting activities throughout the camp. YWCA is going to be having high school and college coaches coming in to work with the kids.
    • Program runs from 7am-4:30pm with activities running from 9am-3:30pm. Starting June 16th and runs for 6 weeks.
    • Need volunteers who love to have fun, willing to be a mentor and learn leadership skills!!!!! Must have good attitude.
    • If you can only volunteer certain days and weeks, please indicate this on your application.
    • All applicants must submit to a Criminal Backgroup Check (just have to fill out form attached to application).

    YWCA- Redford (Grand River and Beech Daly, Detriot, MI- near Dearborn).

    • ***Need volunteers to work with kids, but also looking for a volunteer to work the front desk from 3pm-6pm daily (may be possible monetary compensation).
    • Volunteer will be acting as mentors for younger students. Need volunteers that are willing to work with their inventors club, global explorers club, go green and fitness program. Day campers will be traveling up to Camp Cavell during the 1st week of July (after July 4th weekend).
    • Program runs from 7am-4:30pm with activities running from 9am-3:30pm. Starting mid June.
    • Need volunteers who love to have fun, willing to be a mentor and learn leadership skills!!!!! Must have good attitude.
    • If you can only volunteer certain days and weeks, please indicate this on your application.
    • All applicants must submit to a Criminal Backgroup Check (just have to fill out form attached to application).

    Plymouth Education Center (Warren and Dequindre in Detroit, MI- off of 375).

    • Program runs from 7am-4:30pm with activities running from 9am-3:30pm. Starting mid June.
    • Need volunteers who love to have fun, willing to be a mentor and learn leadership skills!!!!! Must have good attitude.
    • If you can only volunteer certain days and weeks, please indicate this on your application.
