Robotics – Engineers are needed to help the build team build the bots. Volunteers are also needed for: web site, animation, computer programming, business stuff and fundraising. Anyone with any kind of desire to help would be great.

Classroom Projects - More information coming soon...

Junior Mock Interview – Volunteers are needed to ‘interview’ students. As a Junior Mock Interviewer, you would simply sit on a panel that asks realistic interview questions to HFA students. No preparation is required - time is built in to review resumes and generate questions. Mock Interviews give students their first taste of a high-pressure interview situation, as they prepare to enter their Practicum internships their Senior year.

Adult Partners (Internship; SMP) – Volunteers are needed to supervise seniors during their practicum, a supervised work-based learning experience in which students are placed with an Adult Partner who holds a position in a career path the student is interested in following. In order to fulfill the Senior Practicum requirements, students must complete 75 hours of fieldwork over a 10-week period including, a minimum of 30 hours of direct contact with their Adult Partner. Work schedules are determined by the Adult Partner and student.

MME Testing - responsibilities include providing and serving breakfast to the Juniors each morning the Michigan Merit Exam is administered. A budget is provided. Test dates vary; however, the MME is typically taken in April.

Picture Day - Volunteers are needed in the Museum and Village Campuses to assist in keeping order as students wait in line and calling the students up to have their pictures taken.

Dance Chaperones – Dance Chaperones monitor the school dances. There are two dances each academic year, the Harvest Dance held in late September or early October and a Valentine’s Day Dance held in February around Valentine’s Day. The dances are held in A Taste of History, located inside Greenfield Village. You are asked to arrive a few minutes before the dance begins and stay until the dance is over.

Field Trip Chaperones - Volunteers are needed to accompany Academy students the on various fieldtrips throughout the year. Date, time and grade level vary.

International Food Festival - More information coming soon...

Food/Drink Donations - The Parent Organization sells drinks and snacks at specific events (school play, talent show, to raise funds. Types of snacks typically sold are: chips (individual bags), cookies (homemade or store bought), candy, granola bars, water, juice and pop. Donations can be dropped off on the morning or afternoon of the event day.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – In early May, the Parent Organization sponsors a luncheon for the Academy teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. Volunteers are needed to order, pick-up, and deliver food to the campuses, purchase other necessary supplies and greet the teachers as they come in for lunch. A budget is provided. Because the teacher’s lunch breaks are short, the luncheon is served in both the Museum and Village campuses.

Concessions – Volunteers are needed to sell donated snacks and drinks during school events. Events may include, but are not limited to; school play, talent show and choral concerts.

Career Day Presenters – During Career Day, volunteers give a presentation to students about their career.

Clerical – Volunteers help fold, stuff and label envelopes for the various Academy mailings. Mailings may include, but are not limited to, monthly newsletter, specific class information, registration packets, freshmen orientation packets, etc.

Field Day Volunteers - During Spirit Week, usually the end of September of beginning of October, HFA students participate in Field Day Activities. Volunteers are needed to keep the students and the activities on schedule.
