Providing Horse Adventures for Children with Cancer... A child lives in a world of wonder, awe and innocence. Happiness and hardship come in measured doses. A diagnosis of cancer can take that child's world and turn it upside down. The family's focus is now turned to chemotherapy, medications, spinal taps, bone marrow aspirations, and the uncertain outcome - all part of the 'everyday life' for children and their families dealing with cancer.
Horses for Hope is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to a simple mission. For families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer, Horses for Hope provides both instructional and fun horse oriented events that encourage personal growth and enhance self-esteem. The riding activities provide special time away from home and the hospital for the kids and their families.
Even more importantly, the events encourage families to share their stories with others. We realize that children afflicted with cancer have a lot of attention focused on them because of their illness. It is our goal to provide a magical day for the ill child, and a special memory for brothers, sisters, parents and special family members.
Horses for Hope began 8 years ago with a one-day event - 'Chemo Kid Day' - a fun filled day for children with cancer and their families. This special event still continues, welcoming families from all over the state of Michigan.
Horses for Hope provides access to a variety of additional adventures to do on horseback:

- Stable Management Classes
Horses for Hope's activates and operations are supported solely through charitable donations, fundraisers and the kindness of our many volunteers, with all of the funds remaining in the Genesee County area.
