Welcome...
to the website for the Howell/Livingston County, Michigan chapter of Project Linus.

I want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to the community and, especially, the Motor City Viper Owners chapter of the Viper Club of America and the fabulous people at Monarch Quilts for all they have done for this chapter of Project Linus. The generosity I have witnessed is something to behold.

We are always in need of blankets for older children - approx. size of 40"x60". Suggested blanket sizes can be found below.

Anyone wanting to drop off completed blankets or supplies for making blankets can contact me below or drop them off at Monarch Quilts (see address below) during their normal business hours. If you're looking for a great quilting group to join online check out www.quiltingaroundtheworld.com.

Dates for Upcoming Blanket Making Days

Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Monarch Quilts

Blanket sizes (all are approximate suggestions):

Preemie - 24" to 30" square
Newborn - 36" to 45" square
Toddler - 36" x 45" to 45" square
Elementary - 40" x 50"
Preteen - 40" x 60" to 50" x 60"
Teen - 45" x 72" to 60" x 72"

A few blanket-making guidelines to consider:
*Blankets can be quilted, knitted, crocheted, patchwork, tied, embroidered or no-sew fringed fleece. As long as it is handmade and washable we can most likely use it for a child in need.
*Remove selvage edges from fleece fabric.
*Fringe on fleece blankets should be tied with an overhand/tassel knot.
*Please do not add embellishments such as buttons, tassels or sequins to the blankets. These could be chewed off and cause choking.
*Blankets with strong odors of smoke, chemicals or pets cannot be used.
*Please check blankets carefully to remove ALL straight pins before donation.
