Mask Articles MASK ARTICLE - FALL 05 Greetings brothers, Another year has come and gone and it is time to say goodbye to a few of our graduating brothers. Mohammed Elsayed, Ahmed Said, Kyusik Kim and Nabil Moussa will be greatly missed as they were all outstanding brothers in the undergraduate chapter. They now move onto the graduate chapter where they will continue to help advance Kappa Psi. We wish them the best of luck with all their future endeavors. With the departure of our graduating brothers, four new brothers have been initiated into Mu Omicron Pi, helping to fill the void. In the spring and summer semester, Timothy Neimic and Larry Mwicharo completed their pledging process over a nine-week period. Throughout the pledging process, it is customary for the pledges to improve one area of the fraternity house as a pledge project before becoming accepted into the fraternity. Tim and Larry’s project included tiling and painting the basement. In the fall semester, Mike Vasovski, Keivan Rheward, and Brad Laporte completed their pledging process over a seven-week period in which they converted a room on the third floor of the house into an office for all matters pertaining to the undergraduate business of Mu Omicron Pi. During the Winter Semester, our annual office elections were held, and we are proud to announce Johnny Khoury as Regent of Mu Omicron Pi. As a fraternity, we believe it is important to give back to your community. Therefore throughout the school year, the brothers contributed much of their time volunteering for various causes. In the fall semester, during the holiday season just before thanksgiving and Christmas, we volunteered at a local church in Detroit distributing food to the less fortunate for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Fraternity also adopted a family from Detroit for which we bought the toys for the children as well as food for a Christmas meal. During the winter semester, many of the brothers volunteered at a health clinic in Detroit where people from the community could ask us questions about their health conditions or their medication therapy. In order to keep touch with the graduate brothers and the graduate chapter, our undergrad chapter organized a number of get-togethers at the house. In the winter semester, we threw a superbowl party where we encouraged the graduates to come and meet some of the newly acquired brothers and just hang out and catch up on old times. Also at the end of the current school year, we had a celebration for our graduating brothers, wishing them success in the future. To conclude, the rest of summer will be a very busy and profitable period for Mu Omicron Pi since it is fundraising season. Our CPR instructors, Johnny Khoury and Phil Klimkewicz, will be teaching the students of the Wayne State University Pharmacy school CPR courses. In addition, we will be conducting our yearly sales of sphygmomanometers and stethoscopes to the incoming pharmacy class. We hope to see and hear from many of you soon, and all are welcome to our beautiful home in Detroit and please visit our website at www.orgsites.com/mi/kappapsi Fraternally, Mu Omicron Pi |
