The Basics:

Project Linus is a national, non-profit organization that donates new, handmade, washable blankets to children (preemie-18) in need of comfort.

Currently, our chapter donates to ten places on a regular basis: Project Night Night of Novi, The Oakland County Department of Social Services, Birthright of Macomb County, Abigayle Place in Sterling Heights, Problem Pregnancy Center in Southfield, Detroit's Children's Hospital, Rochester's Crittenton Hospital, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Madison Heights, Perspectives of Troy, and HAVEN in Pontiac. We also give to other groups and individuals as the need arises and our stock allows.

Blanket Requirements:

We gratefully accept quilts, afghans, flannel, fleece, and more. We donate to both boys and girls, and want their blankets to be cheerful, attractive, durable, and comforting. (Ask: would you proudly give it to your own loved one?)

Because of hospital tubing, crocheted and knitted blankets are best if they have a tight weave.

If you are going to work with fleece, please be sure to trim off the selvages first.

Blankets for our chapter can be almost any size, from 28" square to 65 x 88". A very common and useful size is 45" square.

If your fabric design is for a distinct age group, please try to make the blanket the appropriate size. For example, a blanket with rattles or duckies on it should be small, while a blanket with cosmetics or deerhunters on it should be large.

Blankets suitable for older boys are usually in short supply - so when in doubt, please make one of those!

Blankets should be soft. Please do not attach any buttons or other choking hazards. Please do not include any religious or holiday motifs.

ALL BLANKETS MUST BE HANDMADE, WASHABLE, AND NEW.

 How To Donate:

Anytime you finish a blanket, you can drop it off at Faith@Work in Troy, or make alternate arrangements by calling or emailing me.

Faith@Work is in the Infinity Square Plaza, on the NW corner of John R and Wattles. Look for the blue and white cross sign. Please notify a staff member of your delivery, so it can be logged in.

Faith@Work's NEW hours are:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10 AM - 7 PM.
Monday, Friday and Saturday 10 AM - 5 PM.
Closed Sunday.

.

After I receive the blanket(s), a Project Linus tag gets attached and it is delivered to a child in need. There are no quotas or deadlines.
