Zacchaeus House TRANSITIONAL HOMELESSNESS RECOVERY PROGRAM
Our long-term sheltering program for women with children began in 1997 and provides around-the-clock supportive housing (up to 24 months) for 3 families of homeless women with children.A total of 9 people can stay at one time in the home. In this safe and nurturing communal living environment, families receive the services and programs they need to help them achieve personal and economic stability which ultimately leads to permanent housing.
WHAT IS A TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM?
Transitional housing provides a safe and nurturing communal living environment where participants will receive supportive services assisting them in achieving economic stability and independence.
WHAT TRANSITIONAL HOUSING IS NOT:
RENTAL HOUSING - By enrolling in the program, participants do not enter into a landlord-tenant relationship with Loaves and Fishes.
ELIGIBILITY:
Participants must be:
- A single woman with children
- A single woman with children in foster care (see Family Reunification Program)
- Working, in school, or actively participating in the Work First program
- Sober for at least 30 days
- Willing to make a life change
WHAT DOES TRANSITIONAL HOUSING HAVE TO OFFER?
- A Private, Safe Communal Living Environment
- Free Cable, Phone, and Laundry on site
- Free Personal Needs once per month
- Case Management Services
- Monthly Individual Progress Meetings
- Weekly House Meetings
FAMILY REUNIFICATION PROGRAM
- Program for women with children in Foster Care.
- Participants must receive custody of children within 180 days.
- Compliance with CPS plan is mandatory. If the plan is not
followed, participant will be asked to leave the program.
- A release of information allowing L&F staff to coordinate services with CPS must be signed.

HOW DO I APPLY?
Step 1: If you are interested in the regular Zacchaeus House Program, fill out an Application and complete a Criminal History Background Check Form. If you are applying for the Family Reunification Program, please complete the FRP application , criminal background check form, and the Consent form. Applications and background check forms are also available at Loaves and Fishes. Please call before coming.
Step 2: Have an agency staff member (from an agency of your choice) complete a Letter of Reference Form. Reference letters are also available at Loaves and Fishes. Please call before coming.
Once Loaves and Fishes receives your completed application, criminal background check form, and letter of reference, your application will be processed. If you are found eligible for the program, you will get a letter from Loaves and Fishes about an interview.
