The mystery shopping concept is rapidly growing. Mystery shoppers are self-employed individuals who are paid to evaluate customer service. Assignment locations (restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, hotels, etc.) and client requirements vary from company to company.
Any adult can become an Mystery Shopper and some teens can complete assignments with adult assistance.
How can you get started? You need to begin applying to mystery shopping companies in order to obtain assignments. One website you may want to search for mystery shopping companies is www.volition.com (see link on left side of this page). They have an extensive list of mystery shopping companies available.
NOTE: SOME COMPANIES WILL ASK YOU FOR MONEY. IT IS NEVER NECESSARY TO PAY ANY MYSTERY SHOPPING COMPANY IN ORDER TO WORK FOR THEM. Legitimate companies train their shoppers for free. This usually only involves reviewing assignment guidelines and sometimes taking/passing a knowledge/skills test.
Mystery Shopping Classes Available
If you're interested in learning more about mystery shopping there are classes being offered throughout much of lower Michigan. Click on the link below to see where classes are currently available. These are one night classes (less than 2 hours) and costs are extremely economical. Participants will receive the following materials in class: details on how to begin applying to companies, what to expect on the application, how to find your assignments, downloading assignment paperwork, how to complete an assignment, and payment/tax information. You will also receive many handy tools to use during your "mystery shopping adventures" in addition to a list of highly recommend companies to work for (not to mention full anytime access to us for help with your mystery shopping questions).

Additionally, you'll receive a list of highly recommend companies to apply to and some handy tools to help you in your "mystery shopping adventures".
JTF has immediate (and fairly simple) banking assignments available in the Greater Lansing area.
WE'RE IMPROVING CUSTOMER SERVICE . . . . . ONE CUSTOMER AT A TIME.
The application, Independent Contractor Agreement, and Ethics & Standards Agreement must all be returned to JTF before you are able to complete an assignment for us.
