How do people become homeless? People become homeless through many different siuations but here is just one example that is seen often in shelters. A family has a job and stable housing until one day, the family car breaks down. Parents begin to miss work and end up being fired. Because they had third shift jobs that don't pay too well they were probably living from paycheck to paycheck and were not able to save much money. They spend a lot of money fixing the car and now have to start making choices about what to do with the money they have left. Do they leave the kids alone or try to afford day care? Do they buy medicine or food? Rent or clothing? Eventually the family may lose their house or apartment and try living with friends and relatives while they look for jobs. If this family has a fight with the people they are staying with they may suddenly find themselves out on the street with nowhere to go. This family that only months ago had jobs and housing is now homeless. It happens everyday.

records for 1989 show 3,400 people in Grand Rapids living in what Federal guidelines deemed "inadequate housing."

Promotions
If you are associated with a non-profit organization and would like to be promoted through video feel free to contact me. I am not a professional but I understand that non-profits have little funds for things like promotions, even though they are probably the ones who need it most. If you would like to see an example of work I have done simply email me your address and I'll send you a copy of the the video I made to promote shelters in Grand Rapids.
