The Tuscola County, Michigan Project Linus chapter was established in March 2008 by Lisa Beckrow. She first heard about Project Linus from an article written in Parent's Magazine naming Project Linus National Headquarters as one of the 10 Children's Charities That Deserve Your Support. Lisa's daughter was in and out of the hospital as a baby. Her daughter didn't receive a blanket but she knows how much it would have helped to get through the long days of feeling helpless while her baby suffered. Luckily, her daughter is outgrowing her lung problems and is a healthy six year old. Lisa knew it was her calling to become a Chapter Coordinator. All blankets donated to our chapter will go to children in Tuscola County. Visit our Project Linus National Website, click the link to the left for additional information about Project Linus including the history of our organization, local chapter listings, and patterns for quilts and afghans. Photo: The photo changes often. However, the photo you see will be of families involved with the Give a Day Get a Day Disney volunteering opportunity. We would like to send a warm welcome to our newest recipient location, The Lighthouse Neurological Rehabilitation Center in Caro, Michigan. They received their first delivery January 29th, 2010. A grand total of 60 blankets were delivered to them. Thank you for welcoming Project Linus to be a part of your facility and for the generous monetary donation to cover shipping blankets to Haiti! It is a pleasure getting to know your staff and working with all of you!
| Project Linus is a non-profit organization with a two-fold mission.
First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers”. Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children. Project Linus is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and is eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions. Please consult your tax advisor to determine the tax deductibility of your gift.

NEWS FOR DISNEY VOLUNTEERS Blankets must be delivered on the day you signed up to volunteer or before. If you can not deliver the blankets on the day or prior to your volunteer date then please sign into the Hands on Network and change your date to the day you plan to deliver. Please see the delivery days & times to the right or see the calendar to the left. We have received a tremendous response from the Disney Give a Day Get a Day promotion. We have already received several deliveries of fleece blankets. We have roughly 750+ people officially signed up. More after that and more signing up every day. I want to personally thank everyone who has been so nice and are working so hard to be a part of Tuscola County Project Linus. It is a wonderful thing Disney did this year. See our "Disney Give a Day Get a Day" page to see volunteers making their blankets at home. |

Blanket Specifications
WHOLE CLOTH QUILTS: Generally 48" in length, by the width of fabric (usually 42" or 44").
AFGHANS: Vary in size depending on the preferences of the blanketeer making it. On average, they are at least 36" square.
FLEECE BLANKETS: Made from a single layer of heavy fleece. We cut the fabric to length to match the width of the fabric. Fleece generally comes 50" to 60" wide, so the blankets are generally 50" x 50" or 60" x 60".
