Dr. Varde is currently the Associate Dean at the University of Michigan Dearborn. His areas of teaching interests include Internal Combustion Engines and Combustion Processes, with research interests in propulsion and engine systems, combustion, fuels and thermodynamics. Dr. Varde received his bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Poona(India), Masters degree from the University of Bombay(India), and his Ph.D in Mechanical and Aero Sciences from the University of Rochester (New York).

Dr. Shamim is currently an Associate Professor and Graduate Committee Chair at the University of Michigan Dearborn. His areas of research include engine pollution control, interation of radiation and transient fluctuations in diffusion and partially premixed flames, and the development of a burn model for diesel combustion. Dr. Shamim received his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology(Pakistan), a M.A.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Windsor(Canada), a M.S.E. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, and his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
