Jaycee Creed
WE BELIEVE: That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; That economic justice can best be won by free men through fee enterprise; That government should be of laws rather than of men; That earth's great treasure lies in the human personality; And that service to humanity is the best work of life!

Welcome to the Delano, MN Jaycees Home Page!           We are located about 45 minutes west of Minneapols/St. Paul. Our chapter has been very active in supporting the community. We are always in need of new members to help us in our cause. Our chapter history; The purpose of the Jaycees is to help with community service and also improve members' leadership abilities and promote personal growth. The Delano Jaycees was started in April 1981. It was shortly thereafter; they began a community project of erecting a fence on railroad property after a train killed a local child. This project was recognized in 1984 in Montreal, Canada both nationally and internationally with the New Zealand Award and the Japan Safety Award. (These two awards are both from the international level.) The Delano Jaycees also provide leadership training to its members. Many members have used their leadership skills by getting involved with the community serving on the planning commission, school board, and even the City Council. The Delano Jaycees stay active in the community by running projects, helping the citizens, and donating money back into the city, parks, and schools. Over the years, many of the past and current Delano Jaycees have been honored with the highest indvidual awards from the state level. ( Minnesota Statesman), National level (Ambassadorship), and the international level (Senators). Currently the Delano Jaycees have 20 Minnesota Statesman, 7 Ambassadors, and 3 Senators. President Update! (May 2009)

Outside of the Fourth of July in Delano, I think May is one of the busiest months of the year. Spring fever has arrived and people are gearing up for family events and enjoying the Minnesota summer. Looking back at April, thanks to everyone who took part in the Jaycees booth at the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce's Community Expo April 4. The expo was a success, and Toon's game went off without a hitch - well except for that kid who caught him changing out the ducks!! Thanks to everyone who helped with the booth and attended the expo. Also in April, the Jaycees teamed up with Youth As Resources students to clean up its two-mile stretch of Highway 12. Thanks to everyone who helped out with that project. Looking ahead to May, things don't slow down. The first major event is the spring convention, which is set to take place Friday-Sunday, May 15-17 in Alexandria. People can still register if interested in attending the convention. Feel free to contact me for more details or to sign up. We have decided to change the date of the annual sandbox fill to Saturday, May 30 to avoid conflicts with the Memorial Day weekend. Volunteers are needed yet for this project - contact myself if interested in helping out! Finally, I'd like to invite everyone to an event Sunday, May 31 from 1-4 p.m. at the Tiger Activity Center at the Delano High School. A group of Delano residents have formed "Dream Team II" and has received a $10,000 from the Initiative Foundation to host a community event where people will come together to decide what needs to be done to keep Delano strong and thriving into the future. Bring your ideas for Delano's future to this event! Contact myself for more details on this event or to be a part of it.
