Welcome to the online home of Newport Boy Scouts Troop #15. On this site, you will find information about pretty much everything about the troop.
On the events calander you will find importnt info about upcoming events such as camp-outs and fundraising events, as well as meetings.
On the Camp-Out information page you will find information about our weekend camp-outs, such as where we go, and when we usually leave.
If you have any questions or comments regarding our troop or this site, please fill out the contact box at the bottom of the page.
Tomahawk 2006
Our ultimate plan for this site, in a nut shell, to make this site the ultimate answer to all your questions about how our troop runs.
Along with all the basic info, such as camp out inforomation, Tomahawk information, meeting information and our troop rules, we will also have a bit of our troop history. Where we are, where we meet, who our charter representative is and so on.
Our original goal for the site was to have as much of our troop history on here as we can. But due to the lack of space, and the fact that we are over 76 years old, that plan has changed.
We still are hoping to put together a booklet or something about our troop. But for that to happen, it is going to take some time.
At this time we would like to ask all current and past members of Troop #15 for some help. We are looking for any pictures or other past troop information that you may have. If you can help, please contact us at the e-mail address below.
We are also looking for help to help us go through our troop records at the council scout office. If you can halp with any of the above, please contact us using the form below, or directly at troop15.bsa@gmail.com. This would be a good project for any current scout in the troop.
Currently we are working on several projects for the troop. They are as follow:
Adding to and updating the website. (constantly updating)
Creating a Troop Guide/Handbook
Creating a cd-rom for the troop.
This will contain a numerous amount of info.. pictures, troop info, troop guide and other misc. BSA info

In the coming weeks, the site will be updated, with current dates and information! Currently we are working on a online photo album for the troop. When we have it up and running, we will link it to the troop site and let everyone know.
If anyone has any pictures from troop events they would like to donate to the troop, or let us borrow to scan them, please, let us know.
One additional feature we are working on for the troop is personalized e-mail address's for all registered members (adults and scouts) of troop 15. More info will be coming soon.

MORE TROOP INFORMATION
This website was created for two main reasons.
1. Have a presence on the web.
1. We created a troop message board. (a place to talk about all of scouting. On many levels: troop, district, council, national and world. Plus more.)
With all the features of the MSN Group, we'd like to ask all members of the troop to stop by, and atleast check it out, and see what you think. And hopefully, sign up to join the group. Itis not much or very big yet, but we hope all members will join the group and post, chat, add pictures, anything and everything.
In the future, and if needed, we may plan scheduled chats in the Group Chat Room, to discuss problems, issues or upcoming events. Please, sign up to join the group.

2. To have a way to inform the members of troop 15 of upcoming events, rules and other information we feel is necessary.
2. A new MSN Group. (A place to communicate to other scouts, to see what events are coming up, dowload important troop documents and see recent event pictures. Plus more!)
The main purpose the MSN Group was created, was to have a place to upload pictures from troop events quicker, and easier than putting them on the troop website.
After setting up the Group site, we found that there is more we can do on there. Every member of the group can upload there own Troop/Scouting Pictures. Every member can post messages on the group message board, and chat with other members of the troop in the group Chat Room.
Also, when members sign up for the group e-mail, members can send messages to all members all at the same time. If a parent has a question about something, can send the message to the group, if another person sees the message and knows the answer, he/she can respond, with out the wait of a Leader to respond.
