Twilite Ridge’s THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 21- 5/16/2k12 - 5/23/2k12:

This week's issue: Ignorance is Bliss

America the land of the stupid and of the aggressive, of course I can’t say many other countries are not also to but America and perhaps because it is that I am an American I can see what’s happening it’s blatantly obvious to myself and those who are being informed by something other than Fox news that we are dooming our own very existence by drinking the right wing Kool-Aid.

Lets face it more than half of all Americans are succumbed under the bliss and aggressiveness our society has created by a corporate based America. We live for foot ball, stock car racing, boxing, wrestling etc, anything that is an act of aggression. They like when Fox news attacks the Obama presidency because most feel they owe their allegiance to rightwing wing factions who vow to lock-n- load their minds on the three G’s, guns, gays, god. They fear god, the gays and the perceived loss of their guns, they find satisfaction in bullying others who are not like them. The truth is that not everyone is that fond of owning a gun many people are not heterosexual, they are are gay and some of us are atheist. ( which I am not) It’s because most Americans fear in that what they are doing to others will lose grace with god so they cling to those who hide under the cloak of religion as they do. This mentality is what’s ruining this country and will destroy it.

Ignorance is not just limited to aggression its also linked to being oblivious to the truth by burying one’s life into apps, video games, gambling, hobbies and similar such things so they do not have to face reality and deal with what is the most important thing to do and that is to find out what is the truth and what is best for all of us by taking seriously the political discourse facing America and the world. Limbs being blown off in Afghanistan? Soldiers coming home in boxes? Paul Ryan (R) planning to rid America from the evils of social security, medicare, food stamps and other safety nets? NO! Whats important is American Idol, sports, games, being number one, these are the diversions, as lame as they might be it’s what takes precedence over our own actual well being.

“Drink the Kool Aid from Mitt” He’ll make you feel better after all he is a business man, he’s white ain't he? He truly cares about Americans because thats what he says and its got to be true. He’s not whats wrong with this country we need more tax breaks for the wealthy. We need more money in the military industrial complex, so what if if we spend more money on weapons more than the rest of the world combined? We don’t need better roads and schools and a rebuilding of our infrastructure thats unimportant.

I hope you have the newest I-phone, I hope you get more friends on Facebook. I hope you have the latest video games. I hope you have your NFL tickets. I hope you will vote the Republican ticket this year because all that matters is that you are happy with these things. Why do I wish this ? It’s because America is a ship of fools so busy satisfying their own needs they won’t see our ship crashing into the rocks. It won’t be until it sinks and we drown and people like my self and others can finally quit yelling at the crew and passengers trying to warn them of the danger that is about to beset this nation. I may go down with it all as I beshrew the right wing factions of this world to the final days yet I can only hope that God has mercy on our souls and that light over darkness is our only final request that is granted.

VOL. 1 Week 20- 5/9/2k12 - 5/16/2k12: This week"s issue: Battle of the Ages

I plan to keep this short and very blunt this week in order to avoid wanting to virtually drive to the R.N.C. and strangle the Republican hopeful for the presidential nomination of 2012, Mitt Romney. In a dreadful piece of news heard as of today 5/15/2012 Mitt Romney is in the lead according to a national polling over President Obama.

My issue is not only with Mitt but with the 52% of Americans that support this disgrace of a life form eating away at America. I say he is life form primarily because it is a disgrace to the human race to consider him to be apart of. He is a volture, of the volture capitalism wreaking havoc in this country. His corporation’s antics once outlawed until Reagan came into office in which he changed the rules of the game and made crimes of capitalism legal.

Blain Capital a company run by Romney has for years loaned ailing companies the money they needed to keep going in hard times and then holds them responsible for any debt they incure while in operation. Once the company collapses Mitt and his retinue of minions dismantle, destroy, ransack pensions, and sell off anything of value that is left and then outsources the jobs to China.

Yes this is the guy America wants for their president doesn’t say much for the American people standing behind him. Mitt is a natural born bully, while in prep school he had the reputation of being the prankster and bully to anyone he didn’t like especially one gay fellow in which he followed one day with a gang of other ass holes who attacked him and cut the kid’s hair off with a pair of scissors. Romney not long ago cut off all funding to an assortment of anti-bullying organizations all of which protected G.L.B.T. school children.

Not too long ago this Romney nut case sticks the family dog in a carrier ties it to the roof of the car for a twelve hour road trip on a cold autumn day to Canada. At one point on the road the terrified dog crapped all over the roof of the car so he stopped and hosed down the car and the dog to. He finished their family trip with the dog getting a 60mph wind chill effect soaking wet. Upon arrival he opened the cage and the dog ran away never to be seen again, It was a beautiful Irish Setter but thats not the point no dog deserves this kind of treatment. His psychotic wife said the problem was that the dog had too much greasy food the day before, I guess she should know she picks up enough grease when she runs her hands through her husbands petroleum based hair. Mrs. Romney laughed the whole thing off on a recent TV interview. I guess thats what the Republicans in America love about these parasites who they want to be as our president and first lady of the United States.

To the 52% of Americans behind Mitt all I can say is either you are mis-informed or just as sick as these two are. So go ahead America put him in office and lets finish this country off and all I can say is I hope you 52% suffer the most when this country collapses from the weight of the Mitt and the Republicans.

When they put this nation in ruins it might be a blessing because we will have to rebuild our nation from scratch. With all the corruption along with these oligarchies who are running things maybe we can finally get rid of this scum. It shouldn’t be too hard to find them because one thing we know for sure about American economics today is that scum always floats to the the top.

Twilite Ridge’s

THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 19 - 5/2/2k12 - 5/9/2k12:

This week's issue: What a Waste

I remember as a child every so often The Plain Dealer and The Cleveland Press would work with some charitable organization and conduct paper drives for recycling old newspapers. Back then thats about all there was in regards to household recycling. In the sixties and seventies recycling was virtually non existent except for scrap metals and paper but today we have aluminum and tin cans and plastics #1and #2 grade only at least in my neck of the woods, and recently electronics and appliances.

To look at the way Americans handled waste in the 19th century was horrific. Most landfills were swamps or filthy reeking hell holes in the ground thus the following letter from a minister in New Orleans to the American Public Health Association:

"Thither were brought the dead dogs and cats, the kitchen garbage and the like, and duly dumped. This festering, rotten mess is picked over by ragpickers and wallowed over by pigs, pigs and humans contesting for a living from it, and as the heaps increase, the odors increase also, and the mass lay corrupting under a tropical sun, dispersing the pestilential fumes to where the winds carry them.

Some time in the 1980’s I became a fanatic about waste disposal it really started to bug me just how wasteful we really are and how we think that natural resources made into products for the consumer is perceived as endless.

Living in the country most of my life I always had a burn pile of some sort because I felt that returning materials to ashes at least broke down some complex materials into ash that was now converted into simple organic based chemical ash that could be utilized for my trees and shrubs and the smoke would be controlled by proper wind direction as not to blow to town or my neighbors, the smoke would eventually disperse and be washed down to small parts per billion by rain and eventually be broken down by nature. This is really not an alternative if specific waste operations that are highly efficient and not too far away from home base.

For awhile until 1996 our nation was building highly efficient clean waste to energy plants as an alternative to landfills. One of which is in Rochester Minnesota that is truly a state of the art facility in which I was personally was given a tour of by the Chief of Operations. It was that tour that was so impressive it changed how I dealt with trash since. Many environmentalist consider municipal incinerators that use steam to run power generators are a bad use of our refuse. They have this notion that recycling is all that is needed. Well if you ever had to dig through a garbage can of house hold trash to find a lost bill or what have you, it becomes amazing clear that all trash is not recyclable in reality an average load of U.S. garbage today is 27% recycled, 7.7% is incinerated for energy and 65%is simply thrown into the ground covered and forgotten.

In the landfills methane a primary gas that is 30% worse than co2 emissions in relation to global warming is emitted by the tons. Some larger land fills use the methane to power steam generators for electricity. In rural land fills their is just simply a pipe thrusted into the heap throwing off a blue flame of methane that is generated from rotting food wastes and from both human and animal feces, yet there are thousands of small undisclosed forgotten land fills that have been spewing methane gas for decades.

I’ve developed over the years a distinct dislike for landfills and consider them as cancerous sores on the face of the earth. The long range release of toxins from them lasts thousands of years. Recently a landfill that was dug up found deep within its bowels a still readable newspaper from the 1940’s that was buried for seventy years showed no decomposition had taken place, someday it would but how long does it take?

Of course no one wants to be near a landfill so land is becoming scarce. So the waste to energy incinerators to power our cities in which uninformed environmentalist scream about is the most logical solution. The fact of the matter these plants are equipped with scrubbers on the smoke stacks dissipating the smoke and toxins the latter which is disposed of safely. To me the only downfall is that they are not equipped to handle items like couches, mattress and long pieces of lumber and other demolition debris. So these items should and can be recycled but are often just put into large dumpsters and sent to a landfill.

In general human beings are parasites on the planet devouring its resources and turning the planet into toxic dumps and their is littering is all over the face of the earth. We generate 400 million tons of garbage a year which is around 1.5 tons per person annually just in the U.S. We are devouring all resources at an alarming rate and it won’t be long that a distinct scarcity will show itself in the near future.

One important plan that should be implemented is for the government to put out incentives to encourage more recycling from the garbage stream as it is being processed. Recycling by households is virtually a waste of time for the most part since even the environmentalist will with out thought trash an aluminum can in a park or a sidewalk garbage can just to get it the hell out of their possession. They are just as bad as the trucker who urinates in a plastic pop or water bottle and tosses it onto the shoulder of the road just to save some time on the log book.

Florida has probably the best disposal idea to date due to the lack of land available and a high water table. It is called called laser arc incineration which has been developed that very quickly converts the garbage to ash, the heat also is used to generate electricity. It is to my knowledge the most efficient disposal I ever heard about but few exist.

The landfill issue is a no win situation all landfills will eventually contaminate ground and surface waters. All current existing landfills should become superfund sites and the trash operators like Waste Management should do their fair share in the clean up process. Waste Management presents itself as a green company yet it is anything but. Try and call to ask any question about their operations and you’ll get the ultimate run around of evasion. Waste Management has the most landfills around the country and is operated in a mob like manner forcing cities to work within their parameters. They control the waste disposal industry and what will be the future decisions regarding environmental concerns. I worked with these guys for awhile and know their methods of controlling and shutting out competition.

We should be going for the elimination of all landfill operations and focus on resource reclamation and energy that can be derived from non recyclable burnables. As far as home owners and the general public becoming good stewards and taking the time to recycle will never become a reality. The American people are lazy and thoughtless and will never, even when this planet takes its last dying breath ever take recycling seriously it is a lost cause but still should be a important aspect of waste recovery regardless. A pig is a pig and humans are pigs. I don’t care how optimistic some people are in seeing this as a readily solvable problem. The situation of irresponsible waste disposal will continue to grow out of control at an alarming rate.

Not believing that myself and other earth conscious people will ever change this problem, only strong government regulations with the help of the E.P.A. can start the long reversal process that has been an out right disaster for the last two hundred years. The one thing that I have and a few others who are extreme waste managers of their home and/or business operations is that at some point when this hell bound train eventually crashes were the ones who can look back and proudly know that we had changed our ways in dealing with waste. Our respect for the earth has become deeply imbedded in our souls allowing us to be free of guilt and not to be charged with the destruction and poisoning of our planet. The meek and the caretakers shall inherit the earth and some of us who are well prepared will watch with sorrow the billions who are to perish when this planet decides to eliminate the human parasitic vermin who poisoned this planet with no regard for the very life that has been given to us so generously.

All this earth ever expected from us was to be good stewards of the land and admire its awe and beauty. This was not done by the masses so we will all watch in horror as a planet that is filled with waste and human beings whose priority in life is hatred of others who were not like them along with an uncontrollable thirst to kill . All I can say to the masses when the day comes is “good riddance”.......

* A special thanks to Elizabeth Royte author of Garbage Land on The Secret Trail of Trash. Who took the time to properly address this wretched problem. I believe that this book should be read at least once by every consumer of goods on the planet who generates their unsurmountable share of waste. and then perhaps enlightenment and action can take place.

TWILITE RIDGE'S

THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 18 - 4/25/2k12 - 5/2/2k12: This week's issue: Letter To The Graduating Class of 3012 - Part 3

Perhaps the most important thought on your minds this day is your college pursuits, though many of you may have other pursuits, education is a necessary requirement throughout your life, for you will never stop learning about subjects of matter and life itself.

It is my hope by now that education will be free to everyone and subsidized by the wealth of our nation, but I don’t think this will be the case. These days college education is very precarious, unless your rich, if not you will soon be the victim of the student loan trap. In my time of writing this, job prospects upon college graduation are very dim and virtually non-existent for high school grads. College grads the debt will be high and relentless, as the feds and the banks will pursue you to the ends of the earth to get back with interest every dime they ever loaned you. Many of us will likely carry our debt to our graves and is forever unforgivable.

Currently there is no bright future for students because we have very well likely reached our maximum levels of economic growth world wide. The only thing really growing is the population and the accompanying demand for more job availability and natural resources. One of the reasons we got on this fast track train to hell is we continue our lust for greed and continue to exploit the last deposits of natural resources that remain. While were at the the same time rapidly deteriorating the health of the planet as a direct result of these pursuits. The faster we do this just speeds up our inevitable demise of what greed and excessive demand does in destroying life on the planet.

Today, the universities demand more money every semester for anything you will need or be required to have. While any class you enroll in goes up in price, the cost of living continues to rise on top of one’s financial night mare that will continually haunt you with stress and a sense of early defeat well before you ever find that first job.

Americans want to think growth and new jobs are just around the corner but they are not, as the oligarchies just continue to drain any substance of money that remains. It all is getting sucked up into their sticky grasps. The vast population lives under the illusion that a multi-state lottery win will take care of their financial woes and as a result they spend relentlessly buying lottery tickets to further add to the vast space between the bottom rungs of the population and that of the few on the top of the money ladder.

The jobs that surface are usually service orientated low paying jobs such as fast food and building and grounds maintnence. The government today shows positive job growth but it is all illusion to spur on spending from the middle class. They don’t want us to look at the fact that less than 2/3rds of American employable have actual jobs of which most of these being highly unstable and vulnerable as they slowly await the inevitable fact that these jobs also will soon vanish in some way, most likely by the bloddy axe of the greedy CEO’s.

It won’t be long when until a cataclysmic event wakes everyone up from their fantasy dream world of life as they slowly start losing hopes for any possible success once taken for granted suddenly vanishes. This will however be an opportunity for those who chose the alternative lifestyles that were once perceived as unorthodox educational pursuits.

My recommendation for graduating students of the time I’m writing this is to seek skills and talents that will be necessary as a new world transforms into an underground economy. It will be a new world where specific skills and talents will be needed in a new societal existence based on barter and the required skills of survival. The world will be trying to reel out of its failed lifestyle and struggle to eek out of it a new way for humans to survive and most importantly live in harmony with the planet. This the real existence for today and it should be what will be in place for 3012 especially if there is to be any real viable future for human existence.

In conclusion of this letter to the class of 3012 the elements in these writings pertain also to the class of 2012 and the successive ones that follow.

Don’t follow the steps of those who gone before you because most of them are the ones now paying for the roads and infrastructure to keep the rich wealthy as they outsource jobs overseas and siphon the worlds economies into their Swiss bank accounts. My final words to you are that this world is both magical and at the same time harsh. Choose to be magical and the harshness will slowly loose its massive grip on the souls of this Earth and with it, the darkness will turn to light up a new pathway into a more loving, thriving, and peaceful world.

Twilite Ridge’s THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 17 - 4/18/2k12 - 4/25/2k12: This weeks issue: Letter To The Graduating Class of 3012 - Part 2

Welcome back, we left off last week on the history of oil, probably the greatest resource on the planet. The United States was the pioneer in discovering its multiple uses. In the 1930,s we were exporting millions of barrels of oil all over the industrialized world. We were drilling for oil everywhere in this nation, but it only took around 35 years when we reached peak oil, and eventually had to start to import oil because non producing oil wells were drying up at a rapid rate.

Currently the big oil companies and the wall street speculators inflate oil prices here and damage the economy. Gasoline is our number one export and is used to drive up prices artificially here in the U.S. The most important product of oil is gasoline and auto makers and big oil have left us with vehicles that our very inefficient on mileage. So we burnt up at this time most of the accessible oil, leaving you with little or nothing.

Plastics another derivative from oil is a waste also most of it going into cheap non recyclable plastic items from China and elsewhere. Mc Donalds a giant fast food chain throws a cheap heavy plastic laden toy that is usually in a land fill within a week or two. To sum it up it we wasted and burnt most of the precious petroleum and its by products.

I’m sure by now you are still dealing with the aftermath of environmental disasters. We were good at creating them and half ass at cleaning them up. Essentially the Republicans who want to destroy the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in order for business to profit by not having to oblige to pollution standards. The country environmentally is in a “ full tilt boogie” to the destruction of a healthy livable environment.

For example waste disposal of sewage is that of the 1890 or further back in time. Currently most of our major cities have terrible sewer systems that are literally falling apart. one tenth of an inch of rain in St. Louis sends millions of raw sewage into the Mississippi River. In short when you add up all the farm chemicals, road salt, and other towns with archaic sewer systems have turned all but the furthest northern start of the river into a huge sewage system. New Orleans who is at the outlet into the Gulf of Mexico. Has the worst drinking water in the country since they get there municipal water supply from this river. In the gulf there is a 75 mile dead zone where the Mississippi ends into the gulf.

Since we are on the topic of waste. Solid waste disposal is just like the Roman days where it is just dumped into a pit ands covered with dirt and eventually spews million of tons of methane further increasing global heating. A few towns have turned waste into energy by incineration at high temps thus breaking the waste into basic organic compounds, with scrubbers filtering the soot, smoke and ash this is wisest waste disposal of solid waste we have. Recycling cuts down a little on the waste but it is a very small percentage because Americans don’t want to make the effort to properly recycle their items. In short there is garbage everywhere especially in desolate back woods and deserts and state and national parks where illegal littering and dumping is rampant. In addition toxic chemical spills and oil disasters are common place and we are literally turning the resources of the planet into crap and only a few leftist environmentalists really care about whats happening with little in the way of support from government agencies.

Speaking of government agencies there is one we could do without and that is the D.E.A. (Drug Enforcement Agency). This one big pile of corruption and waste of money and throws millions in Prisons which are often privatized by the Republicans and their cronies who profit from the head count. The war on drugs was started with President Nixon a Republican started this up with a fully expanded force and it was put into action. They are currently losing the drug war, a lot of us would like to see a stop put to this and instead get drugs regulated as we do alcohol and cigarettes. In reality the only ones who are responsible for all this incarceration and murder is the D.E.A. and the drug cartels who profit greatly due to the illegality of drugs. Marijuana is close to being deregulated as it should because it is far less dangerous than alcohol. I personally just want to see a fight against meth labs and its sellers for it is pure poison. As far as the drug war I believe in treatment centers and education not prisons. One primary concern of Republicans is war money they love it for they are willing to go to war anytime anyplace and if there isn’t agitation in the world they’ll start it. About 50% of every tax dollar goes to the military industrial complex, we have about 100,000 nuclear war heads and hundreds of military bases all over the world. If this was all let loose in a Third World War we will have literally incinerated the word to molten radioactive ball floating in the vastness of the universe. Russia has about 110,000 warheads also so the world is in the hands of two really screwed up countries. If one thinks about this too much it will make you crazy with fear, so the world ignores it.

When it comes down to the monetarial system, It has been growing worse over a period of the last thirty years when the age of “Reaganomics” was born. The tax rates on the wealthy dropped significantly to either no taxes at all on major corporations to millionaires paying a lower tax rate than the middle class ($40,000 to $80,000 per year) bracket. What happened over the past thirty years is that most of our money went to the top and little to nothing is left at the bottom rungs. Much of that big money is held in Swiss bank accounts that do nothing to help America. It is so corrupt now that we pay actually pay subsidies to the oil companies while they are making multibillions every year in pure profit. I sense a class war to start reving up or a major financial collapse due to the excessive greed of these people.

Much of the money problems or should I say crisis can be blamed the most on Goldman Sachs and international banking corruption nightmare, along with the big seven banks in the United States which includes Wells Fargo, and Bank of America all who slowly took over the banking market in the last 30 years with the George W. Bush years being the most significant in creating a wide scale banking monopoly. this is unbridled capitalism and an extreme free market place.

In Part 3 next week we will look at the impact of 7 billion people on the planet and the lack of sustainability that can’t handle the masses. In another words why some of us in 2012 see a very on on the horizon.

THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 16 - 4/11/2k12 - 4/18/2k12:

This weeks issue: Letter To The Graduating Class of 3012 - Part 1

It is with a heavy heart that I write this to you all, on behalf of myself and others who shared similar goals, we have failed you. At this time we have lost the battle to pass on to you a planet that was once healthy and vibrant

About 360 years ago from around the time I am writing this a war began here in America and elsewhere around the world. It was a war against this planet of which by the way I hope you may still have some environmental safe havens left of which to survive in.

This war was started by the lust, greed and power sought by the Caucasians as they came into America committing horrendous crimes against the native Indian population that have lived in harmony with the planet for thousand of years. I don’t know if it is a genetic inborn trait of the invading races from Europe and elsewhere who felt their wants, greed and heathen lusts which made them to believe they were right full owners of the new world, but it did begin over 3 and a half centuries ago based on my research.

There were little in the way of the chemical and industrial threats in the beginning. It simply started with over harvesting of forests, pairies and animals. The dying of animal and plant species already started in the beginning of the war against the planet beautiful birds, plant and animals never recorded before were destroyed as their sensitive environments fell victim to the axe and gun powder.

The richness of creation was of no concern except to maybe possibly a few whites who were the first naturalists and of course the Indian native populations. To this day Americans still celebrate with such holidays as Columbus day where an illusion exists that he discovered America, The fact is the true discovers were early man thousands of years ago who settled here from the northern reaches and crossed from Asia over by way of what is known as Alaska.

Another holiday the 4th of July that in many ways was the claim by a few white man who deemed America as theirs by slowly yet almost to the point of extinction destroyed the native populations by conquering land from coast to coast by defying Englands agreements with the Indians providing them large areas of land in which they could live without being hassled by whites.

As towns grew so did the pollution and destruction of never to be seen again natural wonders that only a few have ever seen. It grew even faster when America found itself at the beginning of the industrial revolution, this time was the first years of which the Earth’s atmosphere started to grow hotter as industrial chimneys blackened the sky.

I have no idea of just how warm the planet is now on your day of graduation, except that it scares the living hell out of me because of how hot the planet has gotten in the last 130 years. I can tell you that in 20ll and in 2012 We have really begun to see the results of our actions. In spite of all this, your country is doing little to nothing to stop it let alone the massive pollution of water and land.

One of the primary reasons that little has been done is that as I write this, is the country is controlled by many corporate oligarchies who have bought the conservatives in our democratic political structure (if you can call it that anymore) and have completely taken over America. They virtually control everything and anything they want which is all of it. In another words corporate communism is well rooted here and around the world.

I don’t know what people are like on this day of your graduation but I can tell you that today Americans are not focused on any real change. Their priorities are sports, television, video games and downloading what is called apps for their enjoyment. This not to say they don’t get violent when it comes to their political ideals even though they know little about the realities and corruption of the American political system which is basically unbridled capitalism on steroids.

Your country today has become the laughing stock of other nations who seem to know the political insanity of the G.O.P. candidates short for the Grand Ole Party of which I hope no longer exists on this day of your graduation.

As I mentioned earlier the leftists and environmentalist have been defeated and now more and more people realize that we are the losers of the now 360th year of war against the planet. I can’t imagine their is much left out there for you. I’m sorry but many of us tried to talk sense intoAmericans but big money interests, over development, Superbowls and World Series type events are their priorities along with their self focused personal agendas.

I don’t know how much you have learned from your days of schooling but here at the K-12 type schools most high schoolers can’t find and identify states and capitals on a map, and they are completely lost when asked to name and point to a country on a world map. The Republicans are the only ones who benefit from this because they can educate people through the corporate controlled media and public funded charter schools in an effort to destroy the public school system.

A good example of this and also sort of a funny story that in the presidential election of 2008 Sarah Palin a very poorly educated woman especially on the topic of politics was a favorite candidate for the vice presidency of the U.S. by the Republicans, fortunately there was just barely enough Americans who were frighten by the possibility of her becoming president at some other time down the road.

Sarah Palin a half term governor for Alaska. Her mass appeal was that she talked stupid with a lot of slang and was what I call simply a racist red neck of which of what most of Americans are. The funny part of this after she lost the election so Fox News the largest and most extreme conservative news service hired her as a political commentator for their network which was then and now the most viewed news agency in the country. She is still in disbelief that global warming exists.

Speaking of weather I can’t imagine what kind of weather disasters have occurred already from global heating so far in your budding lives. There is much more to say but for now I’ll close for there is not to much of this world I can stand writing about without getting a stress related headache.

Next week in Part 2, I will try to explain to why the earth’s petroleum is virtually non existent for you. I’ll give you a hint.....we burnt most of it.

Twilite Ridge’s THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 16 - 4/4/2k12 - 4/11/2k12:

This weeks issue: Wild, Wild, West

Since about 1980 and most historians would have to agree that with the birth of Reaganomics in the 80’s. The greediest and most stupid of American mentality has come into being as the mainstay of American social dynamics. Yes, America has always been the home of the greedy, violent, and self centeredness but for the last 40 years we have seen this grow tenfold.

Our country with its unbridled gun laws and the sports consciousness of having to win and to be the toughest to prove yourself of being worthy of recognition has taken us back to the 1880s. The only thing that has matured in the last 50 years is technology and much of it detrimental to a safe existence in this world and keeps us always on the brink of disaster.

The cold war never really ended as America hangs on to its 10,000 nuclear weapons and Russia clings to its 10,000 to 15,000, about 95% of the world stockpile of nuclear weapons and the construction of nuclear power plants which is absolutely insane. The wild, wild west is still with us and Americans don’t give any of this a second thought after all we have I-Pads and thousands of apps to distract us from what we perceive as negative aspects of living in America. Another real enemy which is seldom considered being evil is the military industrial complex that continues to make record profits with its ability to find excuses for some war which helps create blood money for the Republicans and their crony capitalism friends.

Americans don’t care as long as there is going to be a Super bowl, World Series, oh and can’t forget the Final Four. Gasoline $5.00-$6.00 a gallon or higher too bad you just have to accept being ripped off from Big Oil and the Wall Street speculators. At least its a good coversation starter when your pumping gas along with some other sucker who won’t stand up because he believes America should be run by big business and the Republicans.

Health Care supplied by the government, no way, social security and other safety nets such as food stamps, medicare and welfare for the poor sick and elderly, too bad we just can’t have that. Americans believe in social Darwinism. (even though they don’t know what the term means)The number of people who are like this continue to grow because they vote by remembering who’s name they last saw on a political sign along the highway or what they heard on Fox news which is the number one news service in America. The other reality is Republicans can easily out spend the Democrats in the election process.

Who cares if we can shoot anybody because we feel threatened in the most minimal of confrontations. Nobody really cares that in Texas you can be shot and killed just by being on someone else's property. America loves their guns and many are trigger happy. A hate full bigoted Tea Partier brandishing side arms who spits at black Senators thats okay behavior for Americans, but don’t let the occupy movement folks camp in a park thats the real danger for America. Those socialist commies are trouble for the them good ole “Don’t Tread On Me” American flag waving Tea Party neo cons.

Nobody cares when these right wing nut jobs show no respect for our president after all to them Obama is just some damn * “nigger” running their country. Oh and did you know he’s also a radical Muslim who is not from this country and he’s going to take everybody’s gun away from them while at the same time creating death squads for his health care plan?

This is the reality of American conservatives believing in the oligarchies of this country even though they don’t know what an oligarchie is, mean while the rest of America sits by and looks the otherway afterall they just might miss American Idol if they were to get politically active. Its just not their problem and its up to a corrupt Senators and Representatives to deal with the political issues.

So there you have it the wild, wild west alive and well in America. Oh yeah I almost forgot were also the home of the brave exspecially when an elderly woman or young child is being frisked at an airport or when when someone is casually struting around packing “heat.”

In regards to the use of negative terminolgy......

* To me this is the worst and most hatefull word a white person can say. I don’t even like blacks calling blacks this word. I despise its use but in the context to point out the language these right wing biggots use openly and casually in public to express their racial hatred of blacks I felt it was necessary as a dose of a reality check for the leftists who seem to live in a daydream world of their idealism by ignoring reality.

Twilite Ridge’s THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 15 - 3/28/2k12 - 4/4/2k12:

This weeks issue: Roller Coaster Madness

Political insanity is what it is, that’s whats going on. Last week I was at the bottom of the hill thinking how glad I was the ride was over when an epiphany bounces into the political game only to make one climb aboard and go for another ride. This week it seemed like everyone wanted to talk left wing politics and all of it was positive. This never happens unless I initiate the discusion. I tried to walk away from it all last week and it came back like a friendly old ghost.

There really however is nothing worthwhile to discuss, we had a conservative Supreme court stalling around on the health care bill for no real reason other than to pacify the Republicans and we had the Republicans vote to make sure the billionaires at the oil companies got their tax subsidies continued. Little in political news when you have the oligarchies in America and abroad running everything.

Oil is still sky rocketing of course, this is what happens in a country of which is run like the wild west with a southern style Baptist's mentality. Its no surprise that why at least half of all Americans want and vote for it to stay that way. This is what happens when the masses are improperly informed and fed propaganda from the right wingers. The only ones that do well with Americans being stupid and educated poorly while also being kept from realizing the truth is the right wing architects serving the multiple oligarchies who have no rules nor want any to play by. Welcome to the world and America as it is in the year 2012.

Its all one big charade and a complex one at that. If an epic catastrophe is to happen to the world in 2012 its probably the best year a wise person could possibly pick since the existence of humanity began.

Another thing I’ve noticed this week is that people are realizing and giving thought to the summer travel season because it seems more like May this year, though many of us including myself won’t be going anywhere at gas over $5.00 a gallon. Theres no place I have to see that bad at those prices, unless Obama declares an economic state of emergency and uses his powers to takes control over the current energy policies and rein in the prices like he can and should do now before we get to that price point.

In spite of the grimness in the political world one person this week has seemed to have done what I thought was impossible and that was to create a revitalization in my spirit to such a degree people noticed and commented that I’m smiling for a change. Its not the love as in a relationship or anything like that, its a love that one feels when someone helps you regain your self esteem in a very powerful and positive way. Thats what made this week very special in my life. The crazy thing about it all this, that the person has no idea that they did anything for me at all, but I think a nicely written card of thanks sent from me via the postal service with a a specially selected colorful stamp should help resolve that issue.

Have a good rest of the week.......Madison

Twilite Ridge’s THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 14 - 3/21/2k12 - 3/28/2k12: This weeks issue: REACHED MY LIMIT

This week was absolutely horrid, from the bigoted gun slinger in the Trevon Martin murder in Florida and to all these Republicans and their terrible plans they want to inflict on to the middle class. I dread this 2012 presidential campaign that if after its all done I find we have a Republican President in the White House. and a conservative senate along with a Republican house of representatives. I’m going to revolt some how, some way.

It will show just how many stupid people we have in this red neck nation. Here in Minnesota I feel like I’m already drowning in the land of 10,000 lakes of stupidity. The legislation that comes out of a strong Republican presence in St.Paul is destructive to everyone except for the wealthy.

Simply put, It is hard to watch them destroy my state and our nation. Washington and all the states need to clean up all their legislation and legislators and its only going to happen with some sort of a revolt.

I’m at the point I’m ready for a revolt and sweep out this garbage. Democrats and Republicans alike, that are being controlled by special money interest. We need public financing of campaigns and end all this who can out spend the other nonsense. The media would fight like hell over that issue.

It has to be a fast clean sweep and new laws administered quickly. They’re is so many people in such dire need they can’t wait they, need help and action immediately. The Chronicles of the International Liberation on the would be a good place to start.

We kick over the table and the monoply game that sits on it and call it “game over” and we start a new game that makes the game fairer and laws in place to avoid all the money from going to the top again. It just doesn’t work for us to continue this anti people anti social form of governing.

We need a movement that gets the military on our side or there is going to blood on the streets of America sometime soon if we follow this path were stuck on.

I’m going to put an end to all my political articles and walk away as of this week. I will not vote any more until change is coming down the road. I wash My hands of this nation and government and if I was invited to live in a Scandanavian country permanently I would do it in a heartbeat. I will continue with updating the chronicles of the International Liberation Organization and stand by them all, with no compromise.

So farewell to any of who read The Woodland Diary strictly for political debate. I resign myself to writing on other topics an leave the political arguments to the pundits. This country will crash and soon, so don’t say I didn’t tell you before hand. I will no longer get involved with the political process unless I know a revolution is imminent.......Madison Mirindas

by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 13 - 3/14/2k12 - 3/21/2k12: This weeks issue: Walmart

“Attention all Walmart shoppers for your shopping entertainment we would like to present to you this evening ....The sidewalk sale”

A little pause of silence and the show begins: associate 1- “Hey what should we do with these 500 boxes of dishes sitting on those pallets.

associate 2- “How the hell should I know, just throw them to me and I’ll stack them in front of this emergency exit doorway” associate 1- “Yeah what the hell nobody uses that door any way here catch I’ll throw them to you”

associate 2- “okay lets do this” sound effects of crashing glass

“ ahhg just call me ole butter fingers toss another box here” crash! give me another box please” CRASH! I’m nut stoppimg until these are stacked the walmart way”....crash

associate 1- “ damn what the hell are we going to with these smashed boxes of busted up dishes?”

associate 1- “Hey lets put them in an unlocked car behind the front seats.”,p> associate 2- “good thinking, but wait, hey isn’t that Sam Walton’s pick up truck over there?”

associate 1. “Oh this is too easy.”

That was a taped recording made by a few disgruntled Walmart associates that included myself who made a fictious recording and placed it on the store’s p.a. system. Shoppers were stunned as they stopped in their tracks with their carts listening to this seriously thinking it was real.

About a dozen of these tapes were sneaked in and placed at different store phones over a period of six months while assistant managers tried but never could find the portable tape recorder.

The year was 1988 at a newly opened Walmart in Cassville Missouri. I started their in the spring of that year and worked the garden center, much excited to have a job that seemingly appeared to have opportunity for advancement.

It only took about two weeks in and I reached my boiling point. I discovered there was a lot of things about the so called crap they joyingly referred to as the Walmart way. It was a perfect example that of just a wrong style of capitalistic evils for a business such as Walmart, none of it good.

One night an assistant manager came by with a project . The task involved stacking about 75 grills while climbing up to a fairly good height on a shaky ladder placing them in stacks against high wall in the garden center. About a half hour of grueling lifting and climbing on the job , another assistant manager came by and yelled at me telling me the grills were suppose to go outside.

It was then that moment the Walmart underground was born. I told him “thats just fine with me” and threw down a bbq grill at his feet, startled by my outburst of anger he left while a gang of stock boys heard the crashing of the grills from the other side of the store. They all came over to watch and laugh, they were also in impressed with my rebellious reaction.

We sooned formed a gang within the store. One of our group who was pretty agressive, one night slammed an assistant manager into wall in the front entrance with a row of shopping carts and told him that he was to leave all of us alone or he would tear his f-----g head off . This young man was one “bad ass moto scooter” and as a result the assitant manager the next day got him a .10 cent an hour raise and never bothered us again. It was this event which then led to to the complete take over of the garden center that formed our own unique employee lounge.

We all hated Walmart for its lies about raises and fast track of opportunity, along with other misconceptions, and lack of respect to the employee by the managers. This went on for months and dastardly deeds were the name of the game. Such as having races with the Murray riding mowers that always involved some sort of crash.

On one lazy day a gentleman came in to pick his TV that he had in lay away. A stock man with a little bit of a short temper who had to carry it down from a high set of stairs had asked the rest of our gang who were lazing around the store’s employee lounge if some one would help him carry it down Instead of helping him we just sat there shouting epithets at him. The stockman walked over to the stairs and threw the TV down the steps walked down put the TV in its slightly damaged box put it in a shopping cart and rolled it to the customer. A good laugh was had by all except for the customer who was back the next morning with the TV in a shopping cart almost pushing at the locked front door like a bull ready to bust the pen. He waited over a half hour and eventually the smiling store manager opened the main door for another usual day business; that quickly went sour. Oh yeah, I could write many pages on my Walmart days but I’m saving the rest for a chapter in a book called “No MoreYellow Onions.”

Anyway here’s what I knew about Walmart at the time:

Walmart shut down almost all the small proprietorships that made downtown Cassville the heart beat of the town.

Walmart bankrupted many of their smaller suppliers by ordering massive quanities of product then dragging out the pay day for these suppliers many who borrowed money to stock up on the materials needed for production. In the mean time Walmart used their profits from the backs of these folks so they could rapidly take over retail in America by quickly building and placing Walmarts in just about every town.

Most employees were working 39-3/4 hour weeks just 15 minutes away from a 40 hour week that would of given us much needed benefits. 24 years later heres where Walmart stands in the world:

The CEO of Walmart makes in one hour the life time earnings of a walmart associate, Their CEO makes 35,000,000 annually not including bonuses. Most employees are living below federal government guidlines of the poverty level.

Most of their products are from China and Asia which many of which were originally from American manufacturing jobs.,p> If you can picture, every night like a giant vacuum cleaner Walmart sucks up what was once earlier localized money is now depleted from “your town” U.S.A. with little to nothing to remain circulating around keeping small to mid size towns financially healthy.

My personal opinion about Walmart has only grown worse over the past 24 years and there is only about $10.00 that I spend at Walmart every month for a specialized health product unique to Walmart; thats all I’m willing to spend because local economies mean more to me than buying cheap plastic crap from a store that I feel mistreats it’s associates with a lot of hard work for little pay.

Besides Walmart attracts some really strange looking shoppers these days that you don’t usually see anyplace else around so they creep me out a little.

But seriously we all should all cut back on what we spend at Walmart to help our local town retailers stay in business and most importantly make that effort to buy American, yes it may be higher priced but thats because of the quality made by industrious Americans earning a decent

wage. Heres my version of the Walmart way to their success : climb, scratch, cheat, and step on anyone to get to the top and sell a lot of cheap plastic crap to the masses of Americans who don’t realize that every dollar spent there hurts your fellow American. In another words Walmart can go screw themselves.

Twilite Ridge’s,/b> THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 12 - 3/7/2k12 - 3/14/2k12: This weeks issue: CHE When one thinks of Time magazines top 100 most influential people of the 20Th century, Earnesto Che Guevara or simply known as “CHE” (which means brother) seldom is talked about here in the states. Che was a unique child and was well educated, his home growing up contained over 3,000 books. He later became a highly regarded physcian and scholar. In his book The Motorcycle Diaries, he wrote of traveling throughout South America as an eye witness to the suffering, starvation and lack of education to the common people. Through out his travels there and abroad, this would become the core foundation of his fight for equality.

He worked physically side by side with all types of workers helping them improve their conditions and assisting them getting better health care and education the best he could. He knew the Impearilistic west disliked him for their only interest was profit from power and commerce by multinational companies around the world that had no regard for the welfare of the nations in which they operated.

He saught the help of the Soviet Union to fight U.S. imperialism but had many differences with Soviet leadership and their idea of government, Che knew the only way to get countries to provide more for the needs of their people was through all out revolution. This was a man who did not thrive on revolt but saw it as the only viable means in which to bring equality and fairness to the people.

This qoute by Che really says it all: "These events teaches us two things. First t he bestiality of imperialism, that is not bound to a particular border or a particular country. Beasts where the Hitler troops, as the North-Americans are beasts today, or the Belgian elite forces in Congo, or the French mercenary troops in Algiers. Because it is in the nature of imperialism that it makes beasts out of men, that changes them into bloodthirsty predators, willing to slit throats and murder. . . . "Those who think imperialism is reconcilable with peace and democracy, or those who have confidence in the international institutions are mistaken, according Che.

Che had travelled all over the world and had served hand in hand with other revolutionaries from many countries he taught them the art of guerilla warfare of which he wrote a book on. His primary goal was to help people out of suffering and put them back in control of their countries. Che had become world renown and later spoke at he United Nations of where he was almost ambushed and killed by the CIA. who knew he would always be a threat to U.S. imperialism.

In 1959 Che met Castro in Mexico; the two were both disgusted with the Batista government backed by the U.S. They went to Cuba to start a revolution. Batista was a cruel, incompetent and greedy leader. Eisenhower himself later also became dissatisfied with the way Batista handled the military and the citizens of Cuba, Eisenhower called for a vote for new leadership in Cuba. The Cubans were so frustrated with the way things were being handled 80% of voters avoided the polls. On July 26th, 1956 Castro, Che and 80 men and women arrived in Cuba where they were swiftly slaughtered by Batista’s troops. The few remaining which included Castro and Che began their guerilla warfare tactics and raided the ammo garrisons of Batista’s army.

The revolutionaries slowly gained territory and redistributed Batista’s holdings back to the people. For about three years they slowly were able to fight off Batista’s troops even with US contribution of military support against them. Prisoners of Castro and Che’s army were treated kindly and with respect and asked of Batista’s troops to join them in their cause.

On January 9th, 1959 Castro, Che and his army marched into the streets of Havanna declaring a victory. Almost immediately Castro cut rent rates by 50% for low wage earners. The telephone company was nationalized and land owned by Batista and the Castro’s were both divided amongst the peasants. Separate facilities ranging from beaches, toilets, cemetaries, to hotels were no longer separated between blacks and whites.

At this point some say this is where Che became a ruthless executioner in charge of a Cuban Prison, Batista fled the country leaving the remnant of his administration in Havana where they were imprisoned at the La Cabana fortress prison and were executed. Che knew this was the only humane way it could be done because if he didn’t angry mobs of Cuban citizens would of taken over the act and done it their way probably with no remains left to be buried. This was not a stain on his history but a logical humane act of justice considering the circumstances at the time.

Knowing that trade relations with the U.S. were inconceivable, Castro and Che saught for trade and support from the Soviet Union that were needed to prevent a future attack by U.S. military to reclaim their colony and the reinstatement of an imperialist puppet government as was Batista’s. In 1965 Che left Cuba to bring revolution to other South American countries appalled by the living conditions in Bolivia he set up a gorilla task force in the mountains of Bolivia. It was now that the C.I.A. became really concerned about The U.S. losing its control and power in South America so after only two years of fighting, the C.I.A. set up a green beret special ops group to assist Bolivian soldiers in a death squad attack on Che and his gorillas. On October 9th, 1967 Che was captured and two days later executed slowly with eight gun shots and one to the head, his executer taking Che’s Rolex watch as a souvenir. The death of Che Guevera shocked many South Americans and Cubans who mourned his death for many days then and still today. What I find interesting about this situation is that while this was all going on I was attending grade school and being brainwashed by the system about what a great government we have. In a way we do, well maybe, but the main truth is our government is corrupt and power hungry and does a lot behind the backs of its citizens who think it can do no wrong.

As the internet grows and information and documentation about our country sticking its nose where it is and had been with no justifiable reason other than greed and control we become more aware of the real truth. I truly am disappointed in my government. I feel like I have been lied to and misguided and now myself and millions of other Americans are being financially destroyed by greedy out of control capitalist who are winning the capitalistic money game. It’s like the monopoly game with its ultimate “dead end” result, except there is an imperialism twist that enables the rich and powerful ultimately to take it all from around the world even if it means blood will run down from the blades of their swords for it is considered as a necessary part of their never ending greed and power.

Inspite of what American historians may say or think about Che. He was a man who cared about the poor and suffering and what they had to endure. With a strong idealogy he saught to make needed change where ever he went.

In conclusion all I can say is take off your red, white and blue shades and you can then clearly see that this man was a hero and magnificent leader in the 20th century his spirit lives stronger amongst us today even more so than the past. Che’s beliefs is what all nations and the transnational corporations need to understand and respect if we all are to grow and prosper in today’s world.

THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas VOL. 1 Week 11 - 2/29/2k12 - 3/7/2k12: This weeks issue: Oil Speculators and gasoline exports and how they’ll will put your wallet and gas tank on empty.

It is with a depressed state of mind that I write this issue. For the past 21 days oil speculators and the trans national oil corporations have taken gas upward every day with out any end in sight. Republicans wanting a crashed economy to get Obama out and along with the war mongers agitating the Middle East to cut up oil distribution we are screwed.

What is so frustrating is that no Republican will absolutely not stop it and it appears Obama won’t either, at least not at this time. Obama is at a tipping point on this and I’m afraid its in the wrong direction costing him a second term. Obama has mentioned that if oil prices go up to European prices (which is 10 dollars a gallon) this will make Americans junk their gas guzzlers and the auto industry will be forced into manufacturing more efficient vehicles.

The insanity behind this thinking is off the charts. America’s number one export is gasoline. If we were to stop exporting our fuel and get the speculators out of the market gas would be less than $2.00 a gallon. The president does have the power to stop oil exports and reign in the speculators. He plans some restriction on the speculators around October 2012. As far as the reality of banning exports of oil we might of well have a Republican in the presidency because neither one will likely upset the proverbial apple cart.

Obama failing at this point will give the Republicans the all the fuel they need to take him down. Americans in which one out of seven are facing major debt problems and along without action from Obama will put this nation further down the track of having the elite ruling America.

The only thing that we all can do at this time is urge Democratic senators and the president to change our oil policies which also includes ending the subsidizing of the oil corporations with your tax dollars. The Republicans will go out of their minds with these changes and fight us with every thing they got but we can beat this with Americans bombarding Obama to act now.

So get off your defeatist ass and take action tell everyone you know about this matter and have them call, e-mail, facebook their Democratic senators and most of all jam up the whitehouse phone lines and tell them what you think about his current policies:

President Obama- ph: 202 456- 1414 Facebook Obama, bombard his facebook page with multiple postings the worst that can happen is facebook may not allow you to be able to post for 15 days, big deal.

Joseph Biden vice president has the same phone number as Obama. Lets all drive them nuts with protesting phone calls, e-mails, facebook, twitter and also help the post office out by also sending letters:

THE WOODLAND DIARY by Madison Mirindas ; VOL. 1 Week 10 - 2/22/2k12 - 2/28/2k12: This weeks issue: HOW THE GOP AND BIG OIL WILL BRING DOWN AMERICA AND THE WORLD TO THEIR KNEES IN THE NEXT THREE MONTHS.

Better wake up America because you won’t smell the gas fumes from your gas tanks anymore because I guarantee by June, your engine will be the only thing sucking what little fumes you’ll have left in your empty gas tanks when a harsh realization sets in.

It is so easy to see this coming down the pike its unbelievable, so unglue your heads from your I-phones, and Republicans quit breathing gas fumes or whatever you do while basking your in your insane ideology of your greedy right wing dream world. The worlds economy will crash and crash hard by mid June and the only person people will blame is Obama, not the Republicans and their cronies in big oil.

Lets simply add up this pre-planned formula for a global economic disaster and war:

We now have going on a major crisis with Syria, Israel, and Iran, and we all know what happens to oil prices even if theres just a minor argument going on out there in the Middle East. This isn’t going to be just another minor border dispute because its not being planned to turn out that way.

The United State’s biggest export is gasoline and thats because it keep prices high in the United States, instead it is sold reasonably priced elsewhere around the world. This is why Obama was against the Keystone pipeline proposed to go across the United States because the pipeline would have raised gas prices even higher in the U.S. plus at a horrendous environmental risk.

We now as of February 20th, 2012 have John Boehner Republican Speaker of the House already telling uninformed Americans already that if oil goes up to $200.00-$250.00 a barrel or more we can it blame it all on Obama’s economic policies.

In order for the make believe magic potion of this formula to work is we must have the “THE OBAMA INGREDIENT” he will take the fall out for this as president. Democrats today either can’t see this coming or they don’t care because they are conservative democrats who vote with the GOP on many issues already. The Republicans know an economic crash is needed for them to win in November. So they are busy now setting the stage to over inflate oil through a perceived yet at the same time actual shortage due to holding back on inventories. Remember what their mantra is, “OBAMA MUST GO AT ALL COSTS.

Mid-June 2012 will work because they can back up the oil flow easily for five months or more without a storage problem. After the election and a Santorum or Romney gets elected then the Republicans will slightly lower oil prices and say: “As your president and along with the GOP look how we stabilized your cost of gasoline and Obama couldn’t.”

There maybe a lucky chance that this gasoline shortage will blow up in their “Republican” faces before November and the world is shocked into a sense of reality and everybody finally wakes up. I would say; don’t bet on it, the average thick headed American brain out there doesn’t know what enlightenment means; what a government for the people is about; nor do they really care! About 80% of Americans are so out of touch and don’t understand Washington D.C. and how the worlds economic political machine works, they become the perfect little minions to have the GOP pull them by their narrow minded Fox News ears right towards the right wing side of the voting booth. (“by the way, Rupert Murdoch your an ass”)

The powerful will get what they want, and thats control over the world’s economies. They know how to make a crisis work in their favor just like they did in 9/11; and they’ll get those Middle Easterners to dance like puppets to the tune of “Let’s Party Like It’s World War Three.”

So what can we expect in the next three months?______ The United States with the help of the C.I.A. will get us militarily involved with Syria and Iran and of course piss off a lot off of people in the Middle East who will probably shut or slow down oil production, meanwhile The military industrial complex will “jump to the sky” never to pass up on a chance for an increase demand of military weapons and supplies. “Blood money flows easily into over sized pockets.”

A shortage of oil will drastically and unfairly raise not only costs of fuel but imports also. Overseas shipping costs will rise and the cost of goods will soar thus setting us back into a depression, if were lucky to survive it all; expect a rapid increase in the “pass it down to the consumer economics” that will spur up inflation, mean while the dollar drifts downward to all time lows.

The stock market boys and the money hungry speculators will chomp away at what little America has left; meanwhile Americans and their IRA’s, along with the rest of the crashed market will go down the toilet. The exception will be for about 7or 8 major banks; many CE.O.’s; big oil; the trans-nationals and other 1% fat cats they will rise to the top of the new economic cesspool. How you ask? Because they have all the money in which they can float their way to the top, just like scum it always floats on top.

A special note to my fellowMinnesotans; tourism state wide and especially the North Shore will be stressed financially and companies like Polymet will pretend to come to the rescue of The Arrowhead Region. Polymet’s poor economic protection plan to meet environmental standards along with the other unsafe methods of operation will most likely be overlooked and both Democratic Minnesota senators and its GOP members will welcome them for a few hundred short lived jobs because that makes themselves look good to their constituents as they are then looked upon (falsely) as real job creators.

Other destructive trans-nationals will do the same elsewhere around the country, and thats to destroy the environment for a quick profit of what little remains of our natural resources. What Can We Do,/b>:

Revolt, stand up, spread the word to as many as you can by whatever way you can to explain what the Republican party and big oil are staging.

In November 2012 VOTE for Progressive Democrats and Independents so we can get most every Republican and Tea Partier out of power. Prepare as you would in any national emergency or crisis stock up with all the necessities you can get your hands on, and just maybe the 1% and the war mongers will hire some of the unemployed poor to *put some bleachers out in the sun so the “rowin gamblers” can watch and admire “their” Third World War...... *( Special Thanks to Bob Dylan for my little interpretation of his Highway 61 Revisited lyrics.)

Well, thats it people spread the word and do something about it any way you can; talk, text, write, twitter, e-mail,” use facebook, letters to the editor just do it instead of sitting back and watching as your country and the world around you crumbles under the grievous weight of the greedy, powerful, right wing supremacy of the ultra rich.

THE WOODLAND DIARY Week 9 - 2/15/2k12 - 2/22/2k12: This weeks issue: More Right Wing Madness”

The most notable physician of the 20Th. Century, Dr. Edgar Cayenne, once said, “The Planet Earth is the insane asylum of the universe.” I tend to agree with him wholeheartedly. What made me write about this topic this week is because of a very true story about a Republican candidate for the presidency.

This is not about the usual rhetoric of the self centered Republican ideology about why we should turn every government agency to the private marketplace, we all know what happened to Fannie May and Freddie Mac when they were tossed into the free market of unbridled capitalism. Thats a Newt Gingrich story, and no it isn’t about Mitt Romney’s fleecing of American companies putting everyone caught in his web of financial loss especially to workers and stockholders while Romney is making hundreds of millions of dollars in management fees from his Bain Capital. This is about Rick Santorum and some strange rituals from which he will have likely scarred his children (or at least me) for the rest of their lives.

This a story about how a Republican candidate for the presidency of the United States; Rick Santorum decided to go into some morbid adornment of his wife's 20 week old fetus miscarriage. This story just really creeps me out; On the day of the miscarriage holding on to a fetus about the size of a dollar bill, Santorum decides it would be a good idea to tell the doctors he’s taking the dead fetus (that lived for only about two hours in the hospital) home with him. I would like to think that if the doctors knew what he was planning to do a psychologist certainly would intervened.

Instead of a funeral or some sort of perhaps illegal but respectable burial in the back yard. Mr. Santorum brings the fetus home to his one and a half year old and to his 4 and 6 year old children to see their deceased brother 20 week old Gabriel of which he had them to hug, kiss, upon while singing lullabies to the lifeless fetus, meanwhile Santorum is busy taking pictures. Later that evening Santorum and his wife slept with the dead fetus.

The irony of this story is that he currently and had always demanded for all woman to carry their children to birth even if it results in the death of the mother. Of course this did not apply to the situation with him and his wife. They were the exceptional ones who could have a dying fetus removed from the mother to save her life.

This is typical self centered Republican ideology which is; Hooray for me and to the rest, “Piss on you.” You see these kind of people and their ideology is all that matters. This why they want your social security your medicare, and anything the government might be able to help you with. Because Republicans are not only greedy its always about them and only them with nothing towards the common good of all.

Just so you know, I’m for the pill or whatever contraceptive a woman uses to prevent pregnancy. I really hate abortion it sickens me and especially if its used for the sole purpose of birth control, but I’m not against a women's right to abort a baby for incest, rape or a threat exists to the health of the mother’s life if she is to go to full term. There is no reason why a healthy woman who does not want a baby can at least go to full term and make life happier for a childless couple on an adoption waiting list.

This story was not for the sole purpose of playing politics in an election year, its about some real sick, self centered, greedy and “Bad Moto Scooters” who want to lead the most powerful nation on the planet into a living hell. What I would have liked to write about is for it to have been about is who is going to best lead the nation, and yes the world, into peace restored prosperity to the middle class and poor for what is the best for the common good of every living person and the environment on the earth. This Presidential election like no other before demands to be about what the world needs and how we’re going to sustain ourselves in a world threatened by the antics of the ruling class and global warming. I think President Obama with the help of congress and the American people can make it happen.

I want a president and congress who believe that government is for serving its people not themselves... After all, isn’t that the real basis, purpose and need for any form of government?

THE WOODLAND DIARY

Week 8 - 2/8/2k12 - 2/15/2k12: THE LEFT and THE RIGHT divided into 2 = Revolution

I sense there will be physical violent protest attacks this fall if either the Democratic party wins or if ends it ends up a Republicans wins. You Independent voters don’t really figure into this because either they have the ideology of both sides imbedded in to their philosophy or perhaps are just too uninformed. Except for people like Independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

To the alternative party voters, remember this time around your candidate will not make it as usual so make your vote count in what is to be the most important election of our times. We know it will be Obama or whatever Republican kicks and scratches his way through to the top of the heap with just enough of the super pac money.

I personally prefer the democrats because they lean ever so slightly to the left except for senators such as Amy Kloubuchar and Al Franken who act more like republicans than true democrats, mean while the rest of the conservative democrats in Minnesota and Washington basically do nothing. On the right we have the Tea Partier which is nothing but a branch off of the Republican tree the species known as rightwing neo conservatism. On the Democratic side we most certainly have some very conservative democrats that are at the conservative wing branches of the democratic party.

The only hope for people on the left is President Obama yes he did a few things that favored some of the right wingers demands meanwhile steaming some on the progressive left. The right in their despise of him they couldn’t see it. So it was a wasted effort towards getting support of the right, no matter the candidate The Republicans will not improve this nation they will take us back in the dark ages where tyranny rules buy dismantling the government. It will be George W. Bush and his retinue, all over once-again. Wars will bring us back again to the looting of the American taxpayer for the military industrial complex while Big Oil and their tax breaks will still reign in as King.

The 99% Wall Streeters will likely run into problems created by the extreme wing of the right wingers in the party who will throw a royal fit if Obama wins. This country has to unite and come together by the leftist not being afraid of speaking their points, and the right wing to stop trying to control and weigh us down with their ideology an ideology that wishes to make it hard for the government to provide some vey basic services for all of us.

What we have in America is a big monopoly game that has to stop. All our money has been driven to the top and the average wage earner gets nothing but a pink slip for their hard work. We need to start a new game called “Limits of Power” Monopoly in which the wealthy aristocrats are not controlling the vast majority of the money. We need our government to be serving its people instead of a government that unfairly attacks the poor and middle class of their money and needs. What we have now is a government that serves itself because thats what we have in the house of representatives and much of the senate.

The Right has always served itself well beyond their needs and brainwashes the multitudes of them with the Fox News political hacks. C’mon already this is Rupert Murdoch’s baby it’s all smoke and mirrors. We have in America an in step political audience that has been fed the pablum of the aristocrats. If you wish to see a far left outlook on government go to the International Liberation Organization and read what are its list of Articles and agenda. For what the left is about go to http://www.orgsites.com/mn/internationalliberationorganization/ or International Liberation Organization on facebook If you agree with most of whats there you are probably well to the left. If not the statements listed below are most likely to be the most common right wing political agenda of 2012.

Get Obama out no matter what it takes and make sure the House Of Representatives will not work with him towards job creation.

Privatize Social Security, Medicare, the Postal Service, and many more government organizations.

Keep the tax code the same or allow more money for the wealthy by lowering their taxes even further. A right winger hates the fact that someone else is getting help from the government.

Little or no concern over the environment. Just as long as hunting and fishing aren’t hindered to severely. Industry that destroys our natural habitats, exploitation of resources are acceptable.

No respect the E.P.A. Even though it was created by a Republican, Richard Nixon.

Loosen the restrictions placed on polluters and not hold them liable for environmental damages because they either sold out or are out of business.

Many on the right tend to be a racist and or a bigot.

Unlimited Free market place with little or no government involvement.

You support the 52% of your tax dollar going towards building up the military industrial complex

International affairs controlled by the U.S. military using war as an opportunity to get rich at the expense of American tax dollars and its soldiers losing their lives. Supporting the growth of the military complex.

Believe that crony capitalism is an acceptable practice.

To be self centered and focused on “whats in it for me” lacking a sense of national unity in the care and concerns of others.

You don’t have any issues with Big Oil with its tax breaks and its hedge funders in the marketplace.

You don’t want the G.L.B.T community to have the same rights as others.

The three G voter (Guns Gays and God.) Simpily put a one or two issue voter.

Believes that the free market place will sort everything out. (just like Herbert Hoover said during the great depression era.

Believe that building more prisons are necessary and drug users be given stiffer sentences.

The selling out of our National Forests and moving that land into the hands of investment developers.

Believing in Fox News political view points and other news agencies controlled by right wing ownership.

Rush Limbaugh is a true voice you believe in.

Make it harder for the elderly and minorities to vote by imposing voter ID laws.

Believe in the use of electronic voting machines which are extremely susceptible to fraud and manipulation.

Unlimited Super Pac funding for candidates instead of just limiting it to a public financing by tax dollars set by the U.S. Government for a balanced opportunity for all. In another words you don’t have a problem with manipulation of government officials by the giant corporate interests.

The raising of localized property taxes because you feel that schools and other civil improvements don’t need State and Federal tax dollars.

Don’t care if corporations profit from and don’t pay taxes in the U.S because they relocate their corporate offices to places like the Cayman Islands.

Don’t mind if someone or group buys out a corporation, outsources the jobs and then often liquidate its assets for a “behind the scenes” profit. Do not believe in federally funded health care.

Keep on subsidizing big oil and give them plenty of tax breaks.

This basically sums up the right wing agenda. Its a free country for now, so make your choice

Stand on either side of the fenc and make your voice heard, but only if you honestly believe that you are on the side that you think best serves America’s best interests.

The Woodland Diary Vol.1 week 7: 2/1/2k12 - 2/8/k12 @Twilite Ridge on Facebook or www.orgsites.com/mn/twiliteridge/

2012 Predictions - This is the year that Nostradamus, the Mayans and many other civilizations thousands of miles apart have predicted probably not since the birth of Jesus Christ as the most significant year of the past 5,000 years. It marks the end of an earthly cycle that occurs every 5,000 years where the planet on its winter’s solstice rises at the center of the milky way galaxy where exists a black hole.

If you’ve seen the movie 2012 you seen most likely the worst case scenario of what some think will happen, which is a wipeout of the planet as we know it. Due to the vastness of the universe and great distances stars are located in comparison to planet earth we would have likely of likely been destroyed decades ago. The Mayan 5,000 year calendar which is extremely accurate shows this to be the end of this cycle and the beginning of a new astrological cycle based on astronomy. Just as days and years go in cycles as years there truly exists the 5,000 year cycle.

What I think what is happening since I do believe the planets and sun effect life on earth in ways we yet to fully understand, is that we will undergo a change of which higher consciousness will permeate itself as being an awakening for millions. Their will be those who will resist the change and cling on to old ideals that are fading away. We can see this today in which the “right wing thinking class of people centered on power, money and greed no matter the cost and hurt it causes to others, refuse to let go of that what is ruining the hopes of mankind’s survival. This has been going on for a couple of thousand years and is at or near peak of its negative energy.

Perhaps what I see as example is the vial 2012 campaigning going on. All around the world we are falling into disgrace as a nation, just as we did during the Bush era. What Obama achieved rather well was to have other nations respect and like us again. This is now falling apart since the Republicans started campaigning. The reason Helsinki gave Obama a Nobel Peace Award was he stabilized much tension and criticism beseeched upon us from the rest of the world. Today as I write this, the circus of Republican candidates with their blatant absurdities such as Herman Cain and his 999 antics has fueled news commentators from around the world to point and laugh at us. This is not just tabloids but major news media. They scoff about us because of the unbelievable antics of these right wingers.

So what does this and 2012 predictions have in common? Its simple, what we can expect is that most of the desperate right wing ruling class going for total control of Washington D.C. and with their transnational corporations dominating international economics are going to realize that Newt Gingrich who is known as one of the most corrupt politicians around, and Mitt Romney with his disapproved Mormon ideals of religion along with a reputation of taking over corporations, out sourcing the jobs and then dismantling the businesses for profit. which by the way is how he earned his wealth. Once this fact becomes rooted in it will not sit well with reasonable thinking Americans.

There does exist the possibility in the end the Republicans and Tea Partiers may end up gasping in joy as one of the two possibly wins the seat in the oval office. How could it happen? It’s not that hard really, when you look the strategies of powerful right wing of the not to recent past. These people can easily win by giving the notion that president Obama’s economic policies have failed. If the economy in 2012 for the U.S. takes a sudden down turn he’s finished because about 80 percent of Americans are not that informed about the real world of politics and will likely vote him out of office as a failure while the rest are just glad to no longer have a black man as their president this alone is the basis of many Americans disliking Obama.

I think by the summer of 2012 its a possible realization that when we learn that Obama is leading in the polls. Republicans desperate for power will deliberately crash the economy. “Big oil” who is closely aligned with the Republican party and the Pentagon. Its relations with the military industrial complex along with the help of the “hedge fund vultures” can drive up oil prices so high that not only do we as a nation fall into the dumpster so will the rest of the world’s economies. This in turn could put the world into total chaos. Thus some of Nostradamus’s predictions coming to the surface as wars break out over resources.

This could go to the point of no return while a Republican president tries to pull back the reigns after he wins the election and then fails to stop the economic downward spiral. If there can be only one possibility of the world ending as we know it this would, in my eyes may be the most likely scenario, along with some unexpected major natural disasters along the way. Its possible some sort of world government creation of the rich and powerful to put together a new world order could form while struggling against its newly incarnate anarchists.

If you think that the members of the powerful Republican party and the Pentagon would never do such a thing, just look back at the days of 9-11 and the invasion of Iraq. Starting with Dick Cheney’s interests in Haliburton which deals with the construction of oil facilities which they made millions if not billions of dollars from. His partners in crime were former president George Bush who along with former secretary of defense Donald Rumsfeld a former C.E.O by the way could not account for over 2 trillion dollars missing in the Pentagon budget in an interview the day before 9-11. Its sort of interesting that how on 9-11 an air strike by way of a jet plane crashing into the Pentagon that just so happened to hit the area where the financial records were stored killing 50 pentagon employees. In Baghdad pallets of bundled cash to the tune of a couple billion dollars or more were flown in and handed out without record keeping of any sort to supposed independent contractors who were to rebuild Iraq after the invasion.

The sad realization is most Americans glued to electronic games, I pods, I pads have no interest into what happened during the Bush era from a stolen election to Iraq, they really don’t care, but if you bring up the idea to them that America’s poor are getting welfare and food stamps and God forbid that a very small percentage of the lower class maybe getting it fraudulently to help feed their families, oh the rage flairs in their eyes. Their fists pound the bar at the fact somebody got some financial help from the government in which they by state and/or federal guidelines weren’t supposed to get. I can tell you thats a grain of sand off the Middle Eastern deserts compared to the well over 2.2 trillion dollars un accounted in 8 years of a Republican administration.,p> In getting back to 2012, it is my hope that none of the 2012 predictions I mentioned never happen and that people by the end of 2012 will wave this week’s entry of the Woodland Diary in my face. I realize that with this I will lose a portion of if not all of any right wing audience I may have because they prefer to be un interested about it all. I don’t hate the right wingers I just don’t understand their way of thinking in that most of them have values of which are self centered while some are just the “Three G voters” (guns, gays and god”) a.k.a. one issue voters for the Republican party. The ones that I truly dislike is the party’s members who are racists and bigots and the anti gay of the three “G’s,” the rest just simply frustrate me.

So we will see what the proverbial year of 2012 will bring us, just don’t be a a part of the30 percent thats the margin of people who no longer participate in the voting process. This proportion hasn’t changed since the first draft of the constitution was presented. As one writer put it these are the broken hearted who feel their voice is no longer significant and have no representation in the policies of a democratic form of government. I hope that the real significance of 2012 will be of those who see the light of realization and strive for higher consciousness and put that new found energy towards the good of all and the planet,

Letter to the Ruling Class

"You control our world. You've poisoned the air we breathe, contaminated the water we drink, and copyrighted the food we eat. We fight in your wars, die for your causes, and and sacrifice our freedoms to protect you. You've liquidated our savings, destroyed our middle class, and used our tax dollars to bailout your unending greed. We are slaves to your corporations, zombies to your airwaves, servants to your decadence. You've stolen our elections, assassinated our leaders, and abolished our basic rights as human beings. You own our property, shipped away our jobs, and shredded our unions You've profited off of disaster, destabilized our currencies, and raised our cost of living. You've monopolized our freedom, stripped away our education and have almost extinguished our flame. We are hit...we are bleeding...but we ain't got time to bleed. We will bring the giants to their knees and you will witness our revolution!"

The Woodland Diary vol.1-week 6-1/25/2k12 - 2/1/2k12

Sometimes we all need a break from the political arena, environmental problems and world dilemmas and go somewhere fun so this week its:Highway 61 Revisited.

Having been born in the younger stages of the Baby Boomer generation I can vaguely recall when Bob Dylan’s “ Highway 61 Revisited” album came-out in 1965. I remember the siren sound used in the song and a small portion of the lyrics. To be honest at that age the song was probably #38 on my personal top 40 of the ever growing upswell of “rock-n-radical” music crackling from the speaker of my red-n-white plastic portable AM transistor radio.

It was not until I turned 16 and the big deep stereo sound of FM stations merged from the “Velvet Underground” in Cleveland, Ohio ‘circa’1969. I was in my teens and just entering high school and was drawn like an electric magnet to the guitar strings of the radical music movement merging from everywhere in the country except for the South where Elvis was still king. It was then when I heard Highway 61 Revisited sung by rock-n-roll blues guitar player and singer Johnny Winter, the song and especially the lyrics would forever be deeply imbedded in my wild radical head and became the greatest song and favorite song I ever heard to this very day. Bob Dylan once said himself that this was likely his best song he had ever written. These are the lyrics that would end up like a mantra so strongly influencing my life into what it is today:

Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"

Abe says, "Man, you must be,p putting' me on"

God say, "No." Abe say, "What ?"

God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but

The next time you see me comin' you better run"

Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done ?"

God says. "Out on Highway 61".

Well Georgia Sam he had a bloody nose

Welfare Department they wouldn't give him no clothes

He asked poor Howard where can I go

Howard said there's only one place I know

Sam said tell me quick man I got to run

Ol' Howard just pointed with his gun

And said that way down on Highway 61.

Well Mack the finger said to Louie the King

I got forty red white and blue shoe strings

And a thousand telephones that will not ring

Do you know where I can get ride of these things

And Louie the King said let me think for a minute son

And he said yes I think it can be easily done

Just take everything down to Highway 61.

Now the fifth daughter on the twelfth night

Told the first father that things weren't right

My complexion she said is much too white

He said come here and step into the light he says hmmm you're right

Let me tell second mother this has been done

But the second mother was with the seventh son

And they were both out on Highway 61.

Now the rowin' gambler he was very bored

He was tryin' to create a third world war

He found a promoter who nearly fell off the floor

He said I never engaged in this kind of thing before

But yes I think it can be very easily done

We'll just put some bleachers out in the sun

And have it out on Highway 61.

These great Dylan lyrics played by my favorite musician (Johnny Winter) put the notion in my head that it was time to leave the dirty steel town of Cleveland, Ohio and hit the open road. Soon after I spent much of my last two years of high school sitting in study hall with my face buried into road maps of the United States. The AAA.Road Atlas would become my favorite book and was always at my side to follow my dreams. It and along with my mother motivated me to get through high school and with it all ended up finishing up all my classes by the close of first semester in the twelfth grade.

Highway 61 from the Canadian border to New Orleans dissecting the heartland prompted my first goal, and that was to own a service station and restaurant a hundred or so miles north of “The Big Easy”. Dreams as fluid as they are don’t always get followed as well as we plan. Instead shortly after graduation I headed west to Arizona, not finding what I was looking for there it was north to Alaska. In not quite having the funds to get through Canada I lived for a while on a commune on the western side of the Puget Sound, then eventually back to Arizona and set up a nursery landscape business with my parents and my older brother who still live there to this day, yet it was not fulfilling my dreams.

In 1984 it was Route 66 that became my temporary love affair with a highway and along with a trip back east to visit old friends thinking that maybe being back in home town was where I was to be. On the way there as I drove into the heartland where I got drawn in to the central region of the country enough where I made quick of my visit to Cleveland and couldn’t wait to get back that feeling I had when I was in the central states.

I moved and wandered and moved in this region for nine years and eventually after 20 years from the time I first fell in love with the song “Highway 61 Revisited” I was finally driving the infamous U.S. 61 into its northern reaches of America not much unlike my southern predecessors who were artists musicians and dreamers who have been following this highway since the first segment of its pavement was born. I finally became apart of what Bob Dylan and earlier song writers before him wrote about the notorious 61, pursuing dreams, goals, spirituality, love, success, and personal freedom.

There are well over 85,000 hits on Google when one types in “Highway 61 Revisited” just by itself let alone just U.S.61. Who would ever think that a Jewish boy from the iron ore mining town of Hibbing, Minnesota who wrote a song about a highway he travelled south on to follow his dreams would become so epic. There really is power in our words because much of what one finds on the Google search is peoples interpretations of the song’s lyrics. I now only live minutes away from Minnesota’s southern stretch of U.S.61 and have for the past 19 years. It wasn’t until the last 12 years I discovered the beauty and wonderment of the Northern leg of the highway now known as Minnesota 61 ‘alias’ North Shore Drive. It has been by far the most beautiful area of the lower 48 states I ever travelled through thus prompting me into finishing my goal since life as a teenager to live along this highway. It was a lifetime of wandering the country stemming from a song in which I will finally find myself living on its winding route into the Northern Boreal forests and Lake Superior shoreline of Minnesota. For when I get there I’ll no longer wander but hopefully and finally live out the rest of my life’s aspirations. There are really only two legendary highways that America’s dreamers followed; U.S.61 and U.S. 66. These highways are filled with stories, dreams and sometimes tragedy. Television shows, countless books, stories, songs, several movies and a few legends that have come out from these concrete pathways along a nation who is filled with those who are not content being hometown folk. These people were and still are always faced with the struggle of being a newcomer most of the time never really being accepted by those in their new locale yet for the dreamer its not a deterrent to consider before they make their trek.

If one was to say which highway of the two has the most merit to take the number one spot in “most legendary highway” title. Judges would have to give it to U.S 61 even though route 66 has the most notoriety of the two, even with a 1960s television series on its side, it lacks of contrast in a “type of people category” that travelled its routes. With route 66 running from Chicago to L.A. had a mixed bag of white people pounding its highway, there was really no hardcore prejudices against them along the way and in their final destination out west. On the other hand a Southern black “blues” musician with little money to travel with did not only had to deal with the prejudices and hatred of the “slave longing” white Southerners they had the task of adapting to the North where in spite of any personal freedoms being denied to them when they reached their destination, there was still plenty of Northern and Southern European ethnics that felt the arrival of southern blacks would lower their quality of life thus stemming in the expression: “there goes the neighborhood”!

The Northern whites who headed south faced problems to, because they would be considered on their arrival south as a: “a damn Yankee” but eventually would be somewhat accepted because they often brought with them much wanted dollars and sometimes jobs. In short you can say both Northern whites and Southern blacks enriched the areas upon their destinations; the blacks brought the richness of their talents and heritage and the whites helped build up the South with their ingenuity and their money making capabilities.

From the earliest wagon trains in this country, to the rail road era up to the jet planes of today, America’s Highways have the most richness and color in our travel history and U.S. 61 goes to the number one position in my eyes; thanks to a great songwriter from the Iron Range, a long white haired guitarist and singer, and my mother who I still have with me today who always encourages me to follow my dreams.

The Woodland Diary Vol.1 week 5 : 1/18/2k12-1/25/2k12

It is refreshing and invigorating to see a somewhat winter weather pattern return to Minnesota. It’s days like this a visit to the local convenience store one hears the grumbling comments from folks who someday will migrate to the southern states permanently. It really takes a different breed of people to live in this state. I welcome this weather it seems to take the effects of global warming out of one’s thoughts of which is a worrisome concern of mine.

It is hard to believe about 16 years ago while living in Northwest Minnesota I struggled to keep the house I was living in above 32 degrees F. The house of whose only source of heat at the time was a wood burning furnace in the basement always kept one busy to keep warm . It was a very cold winter in 1996 so by February I had easily depleted my winter wood supply. One evening while heading home from work from Red Lake Falls I can feel the temperature start to really drop in my little 4 cylinder Toyota. The heater couldn't keep the windshield free of ice as I drove the lonely, dark back roads peering through a small clearing of the ice at the bottom of the windshield.

Upon arriving home I hurried to the basement and began throwing in what little wood that was left. It was -40 F. below outside according to the indoor/outdoor thermometer and still plummeting, by 11:00 pm it read a -64 F. this was not factoring in the wind chill that was blowing a harsh 40-50 mph across the open flat plains of the area. The inside temperature rose to about 30 and the wood burner glowed a bright orange from the raging fiery hell within its bowels. In desperation after the last piece of birch was thrown in, I stayed in the basement and without time for thought began taking an axe to the furniture in the basement. It was an old h ouse that fortunately had a lot of burnable items by 3:00 am I was dragging the upstairs furniture to the basement and began chopping up enough items to keep the house from turning into a deep freezer.

After a couple of hours of a restless sleep I woke up to the news from the Fargo TV station that Embarrass, Minnesota set the lowest temperature ever recorded in the state -65 F. I knew that my boss would not consider the conditions a good enough excuse to miss work so after almost getting frostbite in the short distance to my parked car in the driveway I proceeded to try and start the vehicle which by the way had no plug in. It was beyond dead it already passed to the after life. In my frustration I slammed my fist against the frozen vinyl dashboard which shattered like a rock thrown into a window pane.

Having no phone service I could not call work and it was fat too cold to walk to the neighbors house 1/4 mile down the road. I spent the day scrounging up old barn wood and managed to hurriedly cut a few downed trees in the woods across the road. It was getting tiring and found myself perhaps in the midst of the loneliest time of my life. Fortunately a good soul came to check in on me and to my rescue loaned me a vehicle to get to work and to pick up some much needed groceries. later a couple of friends delivered some wood to the house, however at this point I had now missed two days of work.

Upon my arrival at the office I was greeted by my boss who sternly stood over me as he had me pack my things from my desk. After packing my items in the car it was off to Thief River Falls to file for unemployment. There were no rebuttals from the company about qualifying and I spent that remaining winter collecting unemployment insurance and fire wood waiting for the arrival of spring so I can gather some of my snow buried possessions and try and leave the forsaken territory that had been so cruel, yet in many ways helped me also see the importance of what it means to get help from the kind and caring.

In an area of primarily farming there was little work available for someone who never driven a tractor so when the grass was visible I packed up and moved to Rochester, Minnesota for work and stayed ever since.

In spite of the experience my plans and desire to move further North up into the Arrowhead has not been deterred. When I saw several years ago for the first time the beauty of the North Shore and Cook county I knew I found home. The cold winters are not a concern and never give me a second thought about my plan The only thing that challenging is having the finances available for a winter worthy home. Truthfully the only concern I would have is running into a situation of having to deal with people who do not care about what problem you may have and what you are going through.

In conclusion I have come to learn that there are kind and caring people out there who can make the worst winter or any other bad situation bearable. This makes the beneficiary of that kindness to do something that is passed on to others who are in need also.

As for my uncaring old boss who discharged me from my job, he was fired 3 months after he terminated me. Truly in a spiritual and mystical way I learned we all are interrelated and the laws of karma always surface at some point in time in a way that always comes true and fills are souls with either the good or the bad in life’s situations.

The Woodland Diary: vol.1 week 4 - 1/11/2k12-1/18/2k12

This winter more than ever before I’ve become increasingly depressed in observing what is happening to our planet. This extremely mild winter with its dry winds and lack of moisture to me is a very likely indicator that we may now have crossed a threshold of irreparable damage done to this planet from the shear irresponsibility of poor land stewardship and massive annihilation of natural resources.

The severe weather of 2011 from storms, raging wildfires, and tornadoes has seemed to help speed up our own demise. Countless millions of trees that were devastated in the U.S. alone along with ever increasing deforestation here and around the world is creating a massive build up of carbon dioxide. When we add the millions of tons of methane from rotting landfills, grazing/confinement meat production, and methane released from the thawing bogs in our northern tier of North America all of which is 36 times more damaging than carbon dioxide in regards to global warming, we are most definitely on a run away train about to run out of track.

The fact is deforestation is the biggest cause for dangerous climate change. It is estimated that this year approximately 5.0 giga tons of carbon dioxide will NOT be sequestered from the atmosphere much unlike before in prior years. This is the equivalency of emissions from 900 million vehicles. The remaining Forest bio-mass that contains more carbon dioxide than is found in the atmosphere, by releasing this through burning, well you know what is happening.

In Cook County Minnesota there is much debate about using biomass as an energy source. If it becomes a reality one has to wonder if this is a move in the right direction. In my own opinion properly fitted waste to energy facilities fitted with quality scrubbers in the smoke stacks is a far better idea, but this another topic that can be discussed in the upcoming weeks. The real issue here is that 2012 I believe will be the wake up year for everyone to feel and realize the impact from global deforestation.

Often we tend to blame developing countries cutting down rain forests as the sole culprits, well we are just as much to blame, Here in Minnesota due to rising corn and soy bean futures it is now common to find thousands of piles of bulldozed trees across the state. From what was once marginal farmland, federal conservation Reserve Program (CRP) lands, and beautiful wooded areas all that by the way provided critical habitat for most of the migratory birds that fly over Lake Superior and other regions of the upper Mid West are being destroyed at an alarming rate. This particular problem is really just based on greed; Farmers trying to squeeze every penny per square inch they can get.

In the forested areas of this state and elsewhere for that matter people think the damage caused from clear cutting our forests can be simply resolved by planting something like white pine as a third or fourth growth substitute stand of trees. These areas that are washed out from erosion are in now what is known as a mineral/nutrient depleted soil. Proper reforestation begins with introducing the right assortment of flora and specific trees that will adapt to this harshened condition well before we can claim ecological victory in the battle for a fully restored forest. This should be practiced by our U.S. Forestry as a sound environmental practice but its not. Simply planting a tree seems like a good start but making sure its soil requirements are met is a prerequisite for a healthy regeneration of our forests and this requires a carefully staged plan.

So forget about your mercury laden cfl’s saving the planet and some other “happy” over rated “green” ideas that are marketed to us by the trans-national corporations by simulating the idea we are really making an impact in helping our global crisis. If you really want to stop this planet from drying up into a barren cinder in space the answer is to start working on major reforestation and not tomorrow but today. We need to put this issue in the front seat of our legislators and do it globally. Instead of the U.S. striving to be the worlds military leader and sinking billions in a military industrial complex we should instead be striving to be the world’s environmental leader. In the fight to protect the planet from man related destruction we haven’t even budged, most likely because the powers at hand strongly resist a change that could possibly eat into their excessive profits.

When I feel defeated by the destructive greed of those who live in a neo-rightwing consciousness who think God or nature will take whatever problems we have made and make them magically disappear, my thoughts often go back to a book I discovered sometime in the mid 1970’s, titled the “The Man Who Planted Hope and Grew Happiness” It’s basically the reverse process of man made environmental destruction and greed. I hope after you finish reading this you will visit a condensed but detailed presentation of this book. You can find this pleasant read at : http://ww.forestfloor.co.nz/ff/the_man_who_planted_hope.htm

In the meantime my friends lets keep striving and fighting for what is good for our environment and maybe someday we will see the bounty of our actions and deeds.

Well take care and stop back next week

The Woodland Diary Vol.1 Week 3 - 1/4/2k11-1/11/12

It was just a day or two ago I received my first of many yet to arrive gardening catalogs. The grandiose photos from a particularly large national Midwest nursery always gives me a chuckle in seeing the picture of a 100’ Tulip tree contrasting so much from the 6-8” sapling that arrives dormant and bare root at one’s home.

It made me think about the grand plan designed for the Community Connection project in Grand Marais, Minnesota. Looking at the colorful plan in The Cook County Herald and in having have worked with a world renown landscape architect for many years I have come to appreciate the idea of a vision becoming reality and what it takes to make it happen. I’ve been pushing a wheel barrow since I was about 10 years old, I’ve carried boulders, raked, and shoveled a lot of land around the country and been on many projects that I hope made this earth a more beautiful place in which to live.

From paper to the ground is a challenge. The one thing I learned over the years is to work as best as you can without altering the natural surroundings as much as possible. It is important to have an eye for the natural grade of the land, in doing so you will eliminate many hours to days sometimes months of meaningless labor that gets destroyed from mother nature perhaps in one freak storm that unveils the faulty design you once were so satisfied as seeing as completed.

The key to any plan is knowing that a master plan is always subject to change. When a project begins there are detours and obstacles that unveil themselves as it moves along. Some of these could result in a total revision of an area that was never for seen by the designer in the planning stages of the project.

This particular project that involves 31 acres of drainage could easily have its limits tested to the max from one major storm that dumps record rainfall in perhaps just a couple of hours. I have seen housing tracts that started with a given estimate of cost and at some point a drainage or other issue resulted in a total change of layout to accommodate Mother Nature’s whims and tantrums or from some other un for seen manmade related problem. A master plan is often a just a rough idea that needs to be refined as the project develops.

My advice to my most favorite town in the world is don’t rush into this plan seek out from the community and gather other's ideas, advice and perspectives for this project. Though I’m a few years out from moving up to Cook County I do feel a need to (by way of electronic media) to at least make a few suggestions on something that is going to be so vital to Grand Marais and its beautiful environment. I think all those involved in this project are wise in not jumping the gun and running with what I’ve seen on the proposed plan.

Personally I see this project as a people project not a just a major contractor subletting the various aspects involved in the plan. Grand Marais just overflows with creative people and energy and with the right planning this could be a prized gem to the city and to the many people that come to visit. Its important to see the overall picture; does it fit with natural surroundings? or does it look like some out of place “metropolitan" type landscape that turns to be a maintenance nightmare filled with flaws?

Though I’m not yet a current resident of the area I feel a need to talk about this because the whole purpose of the Twilite Ridge Organization is to assist and support and help with the beautification of public areas through honest realistic evaluations and contributions. This project should not be dominated by someone whose primary goal is in making a profit to just benefit themselves and a few others working under them who care only to make financial gain from a rushed and perhaps unrealistic plan.

THE WOODLAND DIARY vol.1 week 2- 12/28/2k11-1/4/2k12

As this final week of 2011 winds down rather quietly I can’t but help to look at this past year and realize just what a wild ride its been. We broke so many records for snow, tornados, floods, and fires that 2011 is going to be known as the possibly the most destructive year since record keeping began, It was all blamed on a weather pattern known as La Nina which is still solidly locked in place over the Pacific ocean.

2012 will most likely be known as the year all hell broke loose also and possibly out do 2011 as there seems to be no long range predictions that La Nina is going away quietly. I think saying La Nina is to blame for all our weather woes is just a easy way of trying to explain the cause of our extreme weather with out ever getting to the root of the problem. Human impact on this planet is something many don’t want to accept as a reality. Ignorance is bliss, as some reader of a Sunday paper simply tosses their paper in the trash barrel along a city street, “such an inconvenience to make an effort to recycle”. If your looking for an icon to wrap up all that is wrong with human existence I’d choose a graphic of someone throwing a newspaper in the trash, just to keep it simple.

Now I’m not going to sit here and list all the anti-environmental issues that I personally believe are probably the cause for the birth of a La Nina weather pattern, however I’m a firm believer in individual responsibility to our planet of which few of us ever bother to consider. This is why we have a real problem in spite of being in an era of this planet’s overall condition that by the way, seemed to be going fairly smooth since the last ice age 11,000 years ago. Sure there are factors that are born of natural causes beyond our control, yet we are born from nature thus we have an impact also.

We have created a problem on this planet and the problem is us. We have never been taught how to live harmoniously in the natural world we were only taught from our elders how to take from this planet to satisfy ones own needs, greed, and wants. The human race is certainly the most self-centered creatures to walk this earth, People think this planet should produce and supply with open arms all that we desire with out consequence, well it doesn’t work that way folks and now we are starting to reap what we have sown.

So if a natural disaster wreaks havoc in your life go ahead and blame La Nina if you wish but don’t forget to take some time to look in the mirror and ask yourself “what have I done in my life to keep this planet healthy?” Chances are the mass majority of you will answer this question with the words of; “not enough, if anything at all.” So before 2012 likely unfolds its wrath upon us, perhaps today will be the day you make sure you are recycling the best as you can, not dumping herbicides and chemicals on your lawn , pouring poisons down the drain, etc. but most important of all make sure you’ll take a stand in protecting what precious little is left of the natural beauty of our earth and in case you forget, remind yourself this place is home for all life on this earth. THE WOODLAND DIARY: vol 1 week 1 - 12/21/2k11-12/27/2k12

(Week one of the re-launch of The Wood Land Diary )

This the first issue of the New Woodland Diary first written in Eureka Springs Arkansas in the mid 1980’s. From what started as a simple naturalist column about flora and fauna. It slowly evolved into multi spectrum of politics, environmentalism and a controversial view upon world wide issues. Welcome aboard it will be a fun and an educational tour of facts, theory and controversy......Madison Mirindas

Today I was thinking just about how worthless our two Minnesota senators are . Would I trade them for Republicans , Tea Partiers, and what other screwed up political party thats outs there?, Doesn't matter the fact is there is basically nothing out there for you unless your rich.

What our Senators and Republicans want for Minnesota is hydrogen sulfur strip mining for minimal copper deposits along the entire Eastern half of Minnesota all the way down to Iowa. The copper is to be exported to China to have more and more electronics floating around the world....and "well great" you say. Well actually not so great, you see we are about to screw up what is most precious to Minnesotans and that is its natural beauty and only few of us really seem to care let alone be aware of is about happen unless it is put to a halt. Is this is all our Senators have for us ....exploitation of what little remains of the natural world?

To Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar, I can't believe I actually was happy at one time when you two got elected." Now I see only one thing, a few hundred jobs to look good, to make you look good to your constituents that you are job maker without thought about how this will poison and destroy our environment and tourism. So please when you run for re-election please don't give us any crap about how you are a friend of the sportsman or the environmentalist.

To any of you who may be in doubt read the facts and not the salesman brochure companies like Polymet hand to us. If you plan on responding to me in defense of these trans-national corporations save your carpal tunnel syndrome for some one else. I'm not interested and the longer you get to know me you know that there is no pitch I can't see through. I was in sales for too many years and at too many places and besides I'm not your average buyer.

You see I have an issue with America becoming a bigger third world nation than it has already become and thats another entry for another day. "Just remember this, every abandoned hydrogen sulfide strip mining site has or will become an EPA superfund site before the toxic dust ever even finishes clearing as the last mining truck rumbles out of town for for one last time for the decade or two they may exist . You see at one point when they just about finished scrounging out some of the final deposits they will have made plans and had already sold out to a straw horse company that has no liability agreement nor the adequate funds to clean up all the toxic elements left behind percolating through the environment then they neatly fold up its doors files bankruptcy and leaves you with a orange murky colored river with the reeking odor of dead fish floating on its way to Lake Superior that you thought were going to be there for your dinner at the campfire.

Well enough about the atrocities of the trans-national corporations they will find their own demise as the rest of the world eventually wakes up from its dreamland self centered slumber. Speaking of slumber it nears that time so before I close for this week hopefully I will visit with you again next week on a different perhaps lighter topic. In the meantime I leave you with the words from a very wise 19th century Cree Indian:

"ONLY WHEN THE LAST TREE HAS DIED &THE LAST RIVER HAS BEEN POISONED & THE LAST FISH HAS BEEN CAUGHT WILL WE REALIZE THAT WE CAN NOT EAT MONEY"........
