    What is Youth As Resources?                      

    Youth As Resources was developed by the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties and West Central Initiative to encourage youth leadership. This program recognizes the ability for youth to be a powerful resource. Youth As Resources offers grants from $50 to $1,000 for youth projects located in Douglas County that are initiated and led by youth ages 5-21.

    What issues does YAR care about?
    YAR grant projects must meet a community need in Douglas County:

    • Increase Youth Activities
    • Decrease Racism and Bias
    • Promote Healthy Choices
    • Encourage Successful Youth
    • Increase Self Sufficiency
    • Strengthen Families
      What types of projects are funded?
    The projects granted by YAR cover a wide range of issues and ages. Past YAR funded projects have included:

    • Senior Citizen Dance
    • 30 Hour Famine
    • Take A Kid Fishing
    • Blankets For Babies of Teen Moms
    • 1st Grade Literacy Project
    • Buckle Up Project
    • Abstinence Retreat
     
    Funding Guidelines
    A YAR funded project must meet all of the following criteria:
    • Youth-led, youth-initiated with youth defined as 5-21 years old
    • Fit into at least one YAR project priority area
    • Detailed budget stating how dollars will be use
    • Documentation of fiscal sponsor(a not for profit, tax-exempt organization that will manage the funding for the project)
    • Project must meet an identified Douglas County community need
    • Project must be held in Douglas County
    • YAR funding request will be at least $50 and not exceed $1000
    • Projects will promote individual or community growth
    • YAR will not fund salaries
    • YAR will be recognized
