CAPE GIRARDEAU
![]() Happy Thanksgiving
SCOTT CITY NOW HAS A PRESENCE ON THIS WEBSITE!
Be sure to look under the "Scott City - Calendar of Events" link to the left of this page to see what is happening at the Scott City Nutrition Center! They are always planning a fun-filled time there too. Pictures of the Chili Supper fundraiser are posted under their Calendar of Events page. Thank you for your support of this cause. CAPE GIRARDEAU INCREASING AWARENESS OF THE RISKS OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE - Our Risk Calculator Screening is November 18 from 10 am to 12:00 noon - The American Heart Association, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program, is working to increase awareness of the risks associated with high blood pressure. Our newest risk calculator is designed to do just that. The American Heart Association’s High Blood Pressure Risk Calculator not only allows input of each individual user’s personal measures, but shows a very visual representation of that patient’s personalized risk for chronic disease, including heart disease and stroke, based on his or her individual factors. The tool then goes on (in part 2) to show how the patient can modify and reduce these risks by making lifestyle changes. VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED IN THE KITCHEN - The Kitchen uses at least 3 volunteers everyday we are open to help cup up salads and desserts that go out on the meal routes and help serve during lunchtime. John Coleman has volunteered in the kitchen twice a week for many years and has decided to retire for awhile, and we have no one to help out on Tuesdays. Please search your heart and your calendar and see if you can find time to help OR if you know of someone that might volunteer in your church kitchen that help us out as well. We will call them, we just need names to call. Please help us look for kitchen volunteers as soon as possible. THANKSGIVING IS THE TIME FOR GIVING THANKS - During this very special Thanksgiving season, we pause to thank our very special volunteers. Each and every volunteer gives of themselves over and over again with a smile and cheerful attitude and for that we are so thankful. Our volunteers are the best and we truly could not keep the Center operating without YOU! Thank You! The Center is always in need of your Time, Talents and Resources. Please remember the Center when making your final arrangements. ![]() Louise Louise Wallace is eager to put your name on the buck-a-month board. What is it, you ask? The buck-a-month club is a way to support the Senior Center with building expenses. Although there is no longer a mortgage on the building, there are still plenty of expenses. Roof leaks, heating and air conditioner repairs, and the list goes on and on. Just like at your own home, a building this size requires constant repairs. For only $1 each month or $12 per year, you can have your name posted on the Wall of Fame on the North wall of the dining room. Your name will appear with bright shiny stars after it for each month you have paid. Please see Louis Wallace today to join. I think the best part about this club is there are no meetings to attend and no offices to hold. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ![]() Don't sit in the dumps..Move It! Every morning, at 10 am, we put out coffee along with danish and some other treat to tempt your taste buds. Why not come on out to the Center and spend some quiet time with friends and a good cup of coffee tomorrow? There is usually a card game or two going on or you can quietly put together jig saw puzzles with others. The computers are always available for your use and we have a number of current magazines for quiet reading while sitting in our comfy sofa's. Bessie's Boutique is a fun second hand store to browse through. Check out our Calendar of Events to see what is scheduled on a day to day basis. There's surely something that you can participate in or contribute to with your talents. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

JUST A NOTE!!
MEMORIALS TO CENTER HONORS THE DECEASED
When memorial gifts are given to the Center, it provides income which ensures the Center will be here for years to come. When the total gift received in the name of one person reaches $50, their name will be placed on the Memorial Plaque in the hallway. Our memorial donation envelopes are located on top of the antique replica radio beside the office door. For further information, contact administrative personnel at the Center. We can further direct you in having a bequest made to the Senior Center. |
WE NEED YOUR HELP!! HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE SENIOR CENTER ON A DAILY BASIS??? Each and every day, all of us have the opportunity to support the Center in so many different ways. The list is nearly unlimited, but let me try to name a few: As you can see, there are plenty of things we all can do to help our Center.
GIFT CERTIFICATES MAKE GREAT GIFTS When your children or grandchildren ask what they can buy you for birthdays, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day or "Just Because", why not request a gift certificate for your meals here at the Senior Center? We have them available for any amount, and no time expiration. They may be purchased in the office during regular business hours. These are good for home-delivered meals as well as in-house congregate meals.
