News GOOD NEWS!!! The United States Forest Service has cancelled the effort to turn Palmer into a Jeep Trail!! They do not have the funds for this project. Thank you ALL for all the effort you have put into fighting this project! The letters and phone calls have convinced them that we would not give up Palmer without a fight!! BUT they have tried it before and they will try it again - so PLEASE keep your eyes and ears open so they cannot sneak it past us in the future! Once again - THANK YOU! Since we no longer have to concentrate on politics, let's concentrate on our past!! |

Save Palmer from the United States Forest Service!
We, the undersigned, insist that the US Forest Service abort the proposal to open Jeep/ATV trails regardless of the outcome of the Environmental Impact Statement. The environment, though precious, is not the ONLY resource threatened by this proposal. In the Palmer area alone, Trail of Tears history, a secluded African American cemetery, mining history, the Ozark trail, and every citizen's right to enjoy a QUIET, PEACEFUL day in the forest will be jeopardized. This trail will affect Palmer Church services and dignified burials in the Palmer Cemetery. Rights and privacy of local landowners will be adversely affected. County services should not be used for federal projects. The EIS will be a waste of money. STOP THE PROPOSED JEEP/ATV TRAILS NOW!
