Obituaries of Palmer JEWELL (Nipper) AKERS Jewell Edna Akers of Potosi, Mo., passed away July 27, 1995, in Washington County Memorial Hospital, Potosi, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 5 days. She was born January 22, 1924, at Palmer, Mo., to the late Claude and Lula (Beers) Nipper. Jewell knew the Lord as her savior and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Belgrade. She was a member of the Belgrade Order of the Eastern Star #394, she belonged to the Washington County Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies, and was President of the Antioch Community Center. She was united in marriage to Perry William Yount March 2, 1945, and three sons were born to this union. Mr. Yount passed away June 10, 1966. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Terry Yount; two brothers, Bobby and Linton Nipper; three sisters, Reva Nipper, Marie Nipper and Mildred Dorothy Baldridge. She was united in marriage to Henry Akers on July 1, 1976, at Potosi. Those who remain to mourn her passing from this life are her loving and devoted husband, Henry Akers; two sons, Gary Yount and wife, Dianna of Potosi and Michael Yount and wife, Debbie of Potosi; two step-daughters, Shirley Parks and husband, Harold of Gamaliel, Arkansas, and Bettie Morris and husband, Ed of Belgrade; one brother Wendell Nipper and wife, Bonnie of Potosi; two sisters, Genevieve Yount and husband Earl of Potosi, and Donna Warden and husband, Paul of Potosi; four granchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her. Funeral services were conducted 3 P.M. Saturday, July 29, 1995 at Temple Baptist Church, Belgrade with Rev. Wayne Gibson and Rev. Charles Evans officiating. Interment was in Antioch Cemetery (Quaker) under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
Serving as pallbearers were: Tim Yount, Roger Yount, Marty Yount, Larry Baldridge, Joe Trokey and Dennis Nipper. Honorary Pallbearers were Bruce Nipper and Justin Yount.
Earlen Devol Beers of Belgrade, Missouri departed this life on November 23, 2007 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri, having reached the age of sixty nine years, seven months and two days. He was born on April 21, 1938 at Ishmael, Missouri, a son of the late Don Beers and Opal Gladine (Mason) Beers. On June 30, 1961, he was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Berry at Cadet, Missouri. Mrs. Beers preceded him in death on February 12, 2001. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Maybelle Beers and Bertha Hill. Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his children, Tony Beers of Belgrade, Rodney Beers and wife Michelle of Belgrade, Sheila Moore and husband Marvin of Caledonia, Dawn Lunsford and husband Rodney of Fredericktown; nine grandchildren, Danielle Maxwell, Megan Curtis, Courtney Beers, Jesse Moore, Emma Beers, Logan Beers, Kara Lunsford, Ross Lunsford and Baby Lunsford; brothers, Ivan Beers and wife Betty of DeSoto, Ray Beers and wife Lynn of Potosi; sisters, Lillian Midgett and husband Ellis of DeSoto, Fay King of Gerald, Kay Nicks and husband David of Gerald; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted at 1 PM on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Harvey Buckley officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Marvin Moore, Denise Midgett, Chris Skaggs, Tracy Courtway, Dean Beery, Doug Midgett.
Interment and final prayers were held at Palmer Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi. Frank Beers of Leadwood, Mo., passed away November 12, 1981 in Washington County Memorial Hospital at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 11 days. He was born September 1, 1896 at Courtois, Mo., a son of the late John and Mary Lou (Wilhite) Beers. He was united in marriage to Fannie Gilliam on January 23, 1916 in Washington County and six children were born to this union. One infant daughter preceded him in death as did four brothers and three sisters. Mr. Beers was a retired employe of St. Joseph Lead Company at Leadwood, Mo. Those who remain to mourn his passing are: his loving and devoted wife, Fannie Beers of Leadwood; four daughters: Hazel Syrett of Flat River; Ruth Breakfield of Rt. 2, Potosi; Neoma Hastings of Flat River and Delores Brannam of Festus; one son, Leeman Beers of St. (______), nieces nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 14, at Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Billy Joe Volner and Rev. Edgar Green officiating. Interment was in Palmer Cemetery under the direction of the Britton Bros. (Sparks) Funeral Home of Potosi.
Virginia "Ginny" Beers, of Belgrade, Mo., passed away Monday, February 12, 2001 in Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, Farmington, at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 5 days. She was born October 7, 1944 in Granite City, Illinois to Alice (Gowers) Berry and the late Gorman Berry. "Ginny" as she was known to family and friends, was united in marriage to Earlen Beers on Nune 30, 1961, at Cadet, Mo., and four children were born to this union. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse and Lloyd Berry and two sisters, Teresa and Lisa Berry. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving and devoted husband, Earlen Beers of Belgrade; her mother, Alice Berry of Ironton; two sons and their wives, Tony and Amy Beers and Rodney and Michelle Beers, all of Belgrade; two daughters, Sheila Moore and husband Marvin of Caledonia and Dawn Beers of Belgrade; four brothers and their wives, Jeff and Paulette Berry of Viburnum, Larry and Joyce Berry of Leadwood, Floyd and Lori Berry of Cherryville and Richard and Julie Berry of DeSoto; five sisters and their husbands; Sharon and Hubert White of Neosho, Brenda and Jerry Rusing of Ironton, June and Jim Smith of Belgrade, Debbie and Steve Bossler of Bellville, Illinois and Pamela and Tom Tucker of Ironton; 6 grandchildren, Daniel Maxwell, Jesse Moore, Ashley Steel, Emma Beers, Megan Curtis and Courtney Beers. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2001 at Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Harvey Buckley officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Tracey Courtway, James Kimbrough, Chris Skaggs, Rick Moss, Bryan Boesing and Tim Pryor. Mr. Floyd Lawrence Berry of Davisville, Missouri departed this life Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan having reached the age of forty-six years, four months and one day. He was born on February 28, 1958 at Berryman, Missouri to the late Gorman Lee and Alice Louise (Gowers) Berry. Floyd has been a Davisville resident for the past thirty years and was the father of two boys, Dalton and Dillan. He was currently working in the sawmill as a saw operator. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, June Smith and Virginia Beers. Among those who remain to mourn his passing from this life are his two sons, Dillan and Dalton Berry, both of Davisville; three brothers, Jeffrey Berry and wife Paulette of Boss; Larry Berry and wife Joyce of Leadwood and Richard Berry of Belleville, Illinois; four sisters, Sharon White and husband Hubert of Neosho; Brenda Rushing and husband Gerald of Ironton; Debra Bossler and husband Steve of Belleville, Illinois and Pamela Tucker and husband Tom of Woodland Lake; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many dear friends will also sadly miss him. Bobby Gene Coffman, of Potosi, Missouri departed this life Monday, July 25, 2005 at his residence, having reached the age of 73 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was born February 21, 1932 at Palmer, Missouri, a son of the late Fred and Lula (King) Coffman. On February 8, 1978, he was united in marriage to Patricia Yount at Hillsboro, Missouri and to this union five children were born. Bobby was a loving and devoted husband and father. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Herschel, Herbert and Marvin Coffman and a sister, Gladys Thomas. Among those who remain to mourn his passing from this lfe are his wife, Patricia Coffman; five daughters, Ellen Walls of Potosi, LaDonna Benoist and special friend Dave Helton of St. Clair, Sarah Robison and husband Anthony of Leadington, Janie Bourbon and husband Joey of Bonne Terre, and Rachel Coffman and special friend Kevin Isgriggs of Sullivan; two sisters, Edna Thomas and husband Yuell of Dittmer and Violet Skaggs of Springtown; six grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. William Guy Delashmit, 82, of Palmer died March 2 at the Salem Memorial Hospital. He was born June 10, 1912 in Palmer to the late Walter Franklyn and Mabel Lee Nipper Delashmit. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Delashmit; one daughter, Dollie Delashmit; two brothers: Richard and Clyde Delashmit; one sister, Hazel Delashmit; one grandson, Billy Delashmit. Mr. Delashmit was a self-employed carpenter. He is survived by three sons: Donald Delashmit of Belleview, Lowell and William Delashmit both of Belgrade; three daughters: Amylee (Bea) Hellwig of Potosi, Marian Alexander of St. Clair and Ann Buckley of Potosi; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Gum and Son Funeral Home in Potosi. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Gum and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Neighbors officiating. Burial will be in the Palmer Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Palmer Church.
James Edward Gilliam, Sr. of Potosi, Missouri, was born November 22, 1926 in Palmer, Missouri, a son of the late Ed and Hallie (Coffman) Gilliam. He departed this life Sunday, November 21, 1999 having reached the age of seventy-two years, eleven months and twenty-nine days. James was united in marriage to Dorothy Lauvon Turner in June, 1965 and four children were born to this marriage. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Margaret (Boyster) Gilliam; two sons, James E. Gilliam, Jr. and wife Joan of Potosi and David Lee Gilliam of Potosi; one daughter, Mary Ann Miller and husband Randall of Salem, Missouri; two step-sons, Walter Higginbotham and wife Connie of Potosi and Jeffrey Higginbotham of Worcester, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Jamie and Jared Gilliam and Joseph and Jesse Miller and two step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin Higginbotham; one sister, Sadie M. Hill and husband Leon of Belgrade, Missouri; other relatives and friends. In addition to his first wife, James was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Hallie Marie Gilliam; two brothers, Truman and Johnny Gilliam and three sisters, Velma Jinkerson, Genny Skaggs and Goldie Delashmit. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered for his cheerful optimism and his kind and loving nature. Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 23, 1999, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, with Rev. Bryce Wilson and Rev. Tisha M. Mundy officiating. Burial was in the Palmer Cemetery under the direction of Moore Funeral Home, Potosi.

FIRST OBTUARY OF THOMAS WALTER GILLIAM: "Thomas Walter Gilliam born April 15, 1883 at Palmer, Missouri, departed this life May 1, 1959 at the Bonne Terre Hospital, at the age of 76 years and 15 days. Mr. Gilliam was one of nine children born to the late James and Mary Gilliam. He was united in marriage to Lulu Skaggs May 12, 1904. To this union were born four children, three boys and one girl. Mr. Gilliam was converted and united with the Methodist Church at Palmer, Missouri in 1905, serving there until moving to Belgrade Methodist Church serving there until just recnetly. Then because of ill health and his inability to attend the church of his choice, he attended the Liberty Baptist Church. Those of his family who have preceeded him in death are: Three brothers: John, Edward and Jimmie. Three sisters: Ida, Lou (Mrs. Jack Hawkins), Cecilia (Mrs. Chas. Bowls). Two sons: Winfred having departed this life January 16, 1913 and Harry J. Gillam on April 13, 1945 giving his life in the service of his country. Surviving are his wife Lulu, two children: Lawrence Gillam of Potosi Route 2, and Laura (Mrs Chas. Nicholson) of Belgrade. Also a neice Ruby who is now Mrs. Lionel Gibson of Potosi. Two sisters: Mattie (Mrs. Richard Welker) Palmer, Missouri and Mollie (Mrs. Chas. Beers) of Belgrade, Missouri. Five grand children: Elgene (Mrs. Virgil Allen) of Potosi, Lindell Gilliam of St. Louis, Geraldine (Mrs. Walter Sadler) of Belgrade, Charles Dean Nicholson of St. Louis, and Danny Gilliam of Potosi. Six great-grandchildren. A host of relatives and friends who will miss his cheery hello and smile having a life of love and esteem by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the Liberty Baptists Church May 08, 1959 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Ruel Russell of Herculaneum officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery by Sparks Funeral home of Potosi." SECOND OBITUARY OF THOMAS WALTER GILLIAM: "WELL KNOWN BELGRADE CITIZEN DIES MAY 1--- Walter Gilliam, one of Belgrade's best known citizens died Friday May 1, 1959 in Bonne Terre Hospital. He had suffered a stroke while making a call at Turner's Feed Store, and failed to regain consciousness during his brief illness. Mr. Gilliam was born at Palmer on April 15, 1883 and was 76 years old at the time of his death. His parents were James and Mary Gilliam who spent their entire life in this county. Mr. Gilliam, while in his teens, began learning the trade of blacksmith from the late Mr. Ben Maxwell when Mr. Maxwell also lived at Palmer. He was typical of the 'Village Blacksmith', eulogized in Longfellow's poem and lived up to all the traditions the trade holds. A visit to his shop by young or old was deeply rewarded for the kindness, tales of yesteryear and the fathomless depth of wit shown by the beloved owner of the Village 'Smith Shop'. In 1904 Mr. Gilliam married Lula Skaggs. They were the parents of four children, two boys and two girls. In 1924 they moved to Belgrade spending the remainder of their married life there. Funeral services were held at Liberty Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Ruel Russell of Herculaneum officiating. Burial was in the nearby Cemetery by Sparks Funeral Home of Potosi.
Surviving are his wife, Lula, two children, Lawrence Gilliam of Potosi Rt. 2 and Laura (Mrs. Charles Nicholson) of Belgrade. One son, Harry was killed while serving in Germany in World War II. Winfred, the youngest child died in 1918. A niece, Ruby, who is now Mrs. Lionel Gibson, was reared in the home since the age of five years and was considered as a member of the family. There are also five grandchildren, Mrs. Virgil Allen of Potosi, Lindell Gilliam of St. Charles, Dannie Gilliam of Potosi Rt., Mrs. Walter Sadler, Belgrade and Charles Dean Nicholson of St. Louis and six great grandchildren."
Leo King of Owensville, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Sullivan, Missouri having reached the age of sixty years, six months and twenty-six days. He was born on June 3, 1944 at Potosi, a son to the late Charles Jasper King and Elvia May (Bergner) King. On July 27, 1961 Leo entered the United States Navy. He received his basic training in Illinois and was then transferred to the Miramar Naval Base in San Diego, California. He was an airman apprentice during his service to our country. On August 30, 1963 Leo was honorably discharged at California to the Naval Reserves. On Marcy 14, 1964 Leo was united in marriage to Barbara Fay Beers at Cadet and to this union a son, Michael, and two daughters, Pamela and Janice were born. Until the time of retirement, Leo was the owner and opeartor of K & K Industries. In 1999 he was anointed into the Seventh Day Adventist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leslie and Bessie (Worley) Bergner and his paternal grandparents, Erving L. and Bertie (Palmer) King. Among those who remain to mourn his passing from this life are his loving and devoted wife of over forty years, Barbara King of Owensville; his son, Michael King and wife Donna of Grand Prairie, Texas; his daughters, Pamela Montgomery and husband David of Owensville, and Janice King of Topeka, Kansas; his brothers, Charles King and wife Mildred of Potosi; Richard King and wife Shirley of Grand Prairie, Texas; John King and wife Marion of Dittmer; James King of Farmington; his sistes, Jenny Gargus and husband Chester of Sullivan; Dorothy Bates of Farmington; his two grandchildren, Derek and Mary Ziegler of Topeka, Kansas, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many dear friends will also sadly miss him. Funeral services for Leo were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Pastor Rob Lechner officiating. Honoring Mr. King as pallbearers were: Tony Beers, Jason King, Rick King, Joe Bates, Willard Welker and Derek Ziegler, Interment and final prayers were held at Palmer Cemetery, Potosi Route. Independent Journal, Potosi, MO, Thursday, January 6, 2005 James Edmond Mason of Potosi, Missouri departed this life Saturday, September 4, 2004 at his residence having reached the age of seventy-five years, eleven months and seventeen days. He was born September 17, 1928 at Ishmael, Missouri, a son of the late James Samuel Devoil and Artie Mae (Martin) Mason. James Edmond served our country during the Korean conflict in the Army of the United States. He was honorably discharged on November 12, 1960. On May 31, 1962 James Edmond Mason was united in marriage to Sadie M. Gowers at Cadet, Missouri. They were blessed with one daughter, Mary. Before retirement, Mr. Mason was in the field of maintenance for the Forestry Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse, Carson and Floyd Mason and by four sisters, Gladine Beers, Beulah Chandler, Kitty Lefler and Ruby Jarvis. Among those who remain to mourn his passing from this life are his wife, Sadie Mason of Potosi; daughter Mary Eye and fiance, Kevin Stewart of Potosi; four grandchildren; sister-in-law Charlotte Mason and brother-in-law Damon Jarvis; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many dear friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Wendell Nipper and Rev. Harvey Buckley officiating. Honoring Mr. Mason as pallbearers were: Kevin Stewart, Eric Stricklin, Noel Mason, Chester Mason, Tony Beers and Frank Ancona. Interment and final prayers werer held at the Palmer Cemetery. Mr. Mason received full military honors in recognition of his unselfish service to our Country. All arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.

Rose Pearl Wilson, a resident of Maplewood, MO passed away Monday, April 7, 2003 at the home of her sister in Cedar Hill, MO at the age of 56 years and 25 days. Pearl was born at Palmer, MO, a daughter of Richard and Nettie (Parmer) Quick on March 13, 1947. In 1964 Pearl was married to Samuel Callahan and to this union two children were born: Benjamin Dale and Teresa Ann. In 1971 Pearl married Duncan Gow Wilson of Maplewood, MO.Pearl was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Nettie Quick; three brothers; Junior, Billy and Joseph; one sister Mary; two nephews, David Walls and Timothy Quick and two step-mothers, Goldie Parrot Quick and Rose Crabtree Quick. She is survived by her husband Duncan Wilson of Maplewood; a son Benjamin Dale Callahan and wife Sherry of Cahokia, Illinois; a daughter Teresa and husband Chuck Norris of Mesquite, Texas; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one step great grandchild; a brother, Homer Quick and wife Jessie of Douglasville, Georgia, two sisters; Ruby and husband Rev. M.L. Walls of Medora, Indiana and Edith and husband James Fisher of Cedar Hill, MO. Pearl was born into a Christian home and at the time of her death was a member of Apostolic Faith Pentecostal Church at 4095 Loughborough in St. Louis, MO. She was a former employee of Rubbermaid Corp. at Fenton, MO. Pearl will be missed by nieces and nephews and other family members and a host of friends who will miss her smiling face. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 11, 10 A.M. at the Jay B. Smith Funeral Home, Maplewood Chapel with her brother-in-law, Rev. M.L. Walls of Medora, IN officiating. Her pastor Rev. Howard C. Roy, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, assisted him. Honoring their aunt in music were nieces Faythe Walls Gill of Butner, NC, organist, and Patty Clinton Brady of Jonesboro, AR, vocalist. Serving as pallbearers were: son Benjamin Callahan, son-in-law Chuck Norris, grandsons Benjamin and Derrick Callahan, brother-in-law James Fisher, and nephew Richard Clinton. Interment was at Jefferson Barrack National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

June Marie Smith of Belgrade departed this life Sunday, November 23, 2003 at her residence having reached the age of 55 years, 8 months and 19 days. She was born March 4, 1948 at Alton, Illinois to the late Gorman Lee and Alice Louise (Gowers) Berry. On December 23, 1970 she was united in marriage to James Smith at Alton, Illinois. June was a devoted wife, dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and cousin to her family. She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family and spending time with the grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Loyd and Jesse Berry and three sisters, Virginia Beers, Lisa and Tareasa Berry. Merlin Leon Welker of Potosi, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006 at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, having reached the age of 84 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was born June 30, 1921 at Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late Richard L. and Martha F. (Gillam) Welker. In addition to his parents, Merlin was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. On September 20, 1946 Merlin was united in marriage to Mildred Beers. This September would have made 60 years together. Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife, Mildred Welker of Potosi; a son, Willard Welker and wife Kathy of Potosi; a daughter, Mary Lands and husband Paul of Belgrade; a brother, Steven Welker of Potosi; four grandchildren, Elmer Lands and wife Cricket of Caledonia, Tonja Hargiss and husband Rich of Park Hills, Samuel Lands and wife Amy of Viburnum and Becky Gensler and husband Derek of Potosi; six great grandchildren, Jesse, Felicia and Siera Lands, Austin Gensler, Zachary Hargiss and James Lands; nieces; nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 6, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. John Lands and Rev. Joe Gensler officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Elmer Lands, Samuel Lands, Jesse Lands, Steve Yount, Chris Parks and Derek Gensler. Interment and final prayers were held at Palmer Cemetery, Potosi Route. All arrangements were entrusted to the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.

Steve Welker of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on July 21, 2007 at Potosi Manor Nursing Home, having reached the age of 94 years, 3 months and 15 days. He was born on April 6, 1913 at Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late Richard Welker and Mattie (Gilliam) Welker. He was united in marriage to Flossie Golden White Welker who preceded him in death on March 3, 2003. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Lisa Dawn Welker and Larry Dale Welker; five brothers, Lawrence Welker, George Welker, Jim Welker, Dewey Welker and Merlin Welker; two sisters, Gladys Hedgecorth and Gladys Cruse; a son-in-law, Marvin Yount and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Welker. Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his children, Carl Welker and wife Verna May of Steelville, Dale Welker of Potosi, Max Welker and wife Fern of West Plains and Maebell Yount of Cedar Hill; twenty three grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, MO with Rev. Wendell Nipper and Rev. Amos Griggs officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Carey, Stan Welker, Steve Yount, Paul Yount, Joseph Yount and Willard Welker. Interment and final prayers were held at the Lost Creek Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.

Genevieve Yount, of Potosi, Mo., passed away Friday, January 18, 2002 in the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, Farmington, Mo., at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 29 days. She was born on February 20, 1926 at Palmer, Mo., to the late Claude and Lula (Beers) Nipper. Genevieve was united in marriage to Earl Yount on November 11, 1942 at Courtois, Mo., and three children were born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death and went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2001, after 59 years of marriage. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Baldridge, Jewell Yount Akers, Reva Nipper and infant sister, Marie Nipper; also two brothers, Bobby Nipper and infant brother, Linton Nipper. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her son Roger Young and wife Marilyn of Ballwin; daughters, Sharon Owens and husband Richard of Potosi and Kathy Akers and hsuband Elmer of Potosi; brother Wendell Nipper and wife Bonnie of Potosi; sister, Donna Warden and husband Paul of Potosi; brothers-in-law, Harold Yount and wife Jean of Potosi and Jack Yount and wife Dorothy of High Ridge; sisters-in-law, Edna Whitaker of Bismarck, Wilma Woolsey of Mineral Point, Wanda Coleman of San Antonia, Texas and Alta Crocker and husband Oliver of Potosi Lena Yount of Potosi and Mary Yount of Arnold; granddaughters; Verna Williford and husband Rick, and Sherry Walter and husband Ron; grandsons; Eric Yount, Kyle Yount, Scott Akers and Matt Akers and wife Glenda; one great grandson, Nicholas French; two great granddaughters, Courtney and Leslea Walter; two step-granddaughters, Sue Dalton and Cindy Cross; seven step great grandchildren, Dustin, Justin, Cory, Dewayne, Derick, Minday and Kevin; one step-great-great grandchild Garrett; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Genevieve knew the Lord as her savior and was a member of the Pleasant View Assembly of God Church. She was a housewife and never worked outside the home, but she had a full-time job taking care of her family, whom she loved so much and it was a labor of love for her. She was also known for her wonderful cooking. Genevieve was not an outgoing person, but had a love for those close to her that nothing could match. Her great joy was visiting on the phone with very close friends and family. She had many special friends who helped her pass the time in th e manner, especially her cousin Doris Crocker Lawson, Lois Harmon, Lily Jarvis, Lorraine Wilkerson and Melvina Eckhoff. They helped by being there for her in so many ways. Funeral services were conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, January 21, 2002, at Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Terry Castleberry, Rev. Mike Kohlbaker, Rev. Davey Welker and Rev. Ross Marshall officiating. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Eric Yount, Kyle Yount, Matt Akers, Scott Akers, Nicholas French, Rick Williford and Ron Walter and friend Vern Horn. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Yount, Mike Yount, Ron Richards, Larry Baldridge, Dennis Nipper, Bruce Nipper and Jason Nipper.
