Hillsboro Mothers’ Club

Hillsboro Mothers’ Club

January 2011

Happy New Year from the Hillsboro Mothers’ Club! We are excited to report the opportunities we have had during the fall semester to support the students in our school district. Mothers’ Club used fundraiser money to donate $50 in treats to the Safe Halloween program, $300 to help purchase anchors for the Elementary School climbing wall and $523 to help purchase "drunk goggles" for the DARE program. We organized Canned Food Drives at the Primary, Elementary and Intermediate schools. All canned foods were donated to the Hillsboro Food Pantry. A big thank you to all students and families who made donations. Mothers’ Club had the privilege of helping to organize the Intermediate School book fair. Nearly $3000 was profited during the book fair to be spent on books & library supplies. In December, the Mothers’ Club Santa Shop provided students the opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts for family and friends at the Primary Craft Bazaar. Santa Shop is not a fundraiser but an opportunity for students to buy gifts at a reasonable price. Mothers’ Club also organized the Santa visit in the Primary building by purchasing candy canes to be given to all the students and by providing a Santa & Mrs Claus. This year, Mr & Mrs Going donated their time as Santa & Mrs Claus and did a wonderful job! Finally, with the generous help of our community, the Mothers’ Club profited close to $10,000 during our annual fundraising event. The profits from this fundraiser will be divided among all the schools in our district.

Each school year, the Hillsboro Mothers’ Club uses fundraiser money to award scholarships to students who plan to attend Jefferson College in the summer or fall following High School graduation. Applications for this scholarship are available in the High School guidance counselor office and are due no later than May 2, 2011.

The Hillsboro Mothers’ Club is working hard to support the students in our school district!
