Welcome to Project Linus

Project Linus is a national, 100% volunteer organization that provides comfort and security to seriously ill and traumatized children, preemie through age 18) through handmade blankets. Project Linus in Southwest Missouri was established in the spring of 2003 and, to date, has delivered over 6,800 handmade blankets and afghans to the 4-state area. We welcome anyone who can sew, crochet or knit, and anyone who wants to learn how to sew, crochet, knit and has a desire to help children in need.

Our mission also includes providing a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities for the benefit of children.

We invite you to come visit during a sewing day.

Currently, this chapter provides blankets to The Children's Center, Children's Haven, Ozark Center's Family Support for families of autistic children, St. John's Hospital, McCune Brooks Regional Hospital, The Department of Family Services in Jasper, Newton and McDonald Counties, LifeChoices, St. John's Home Health and many others.

Blankets and afghans are also given to other groups and individuals as the needs arise.

We continue to reach out to all children who are in need. We invite you to join us.

Weighted blankets for Autism Spectrum disorders.
One of the most exciting projects that we have had the privilege to work with is Weighted Blankets for children with Autism Related Disorders. These blankets weigh 15 to 18 pounds. These blankets, for some reason, help children sleep at night when they have not slept much or well for months to years. They are a wonderful way to help children. The weight of the blanket helps the child go to sleep and stay asleep all night.
We have made and distributed over 250 weighted blankets to families who are dealing with autism related disorders.
