![]() Project Linus is a volunteer non-profit organization with a two-fold mission. FIRST: It is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers" SECOND: It is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities for the benenfit of children. Project Linus began in December 1995 after Karen Loucks was inspired to make blankets for a local children's cancer center. Since then it has expanded to include children who are traumatized in many ways. Over 350 chapters of PL exist nation wide and more than 2.5 million blankets have been donated to children. We are proud to be a part of this wonderful organization.
| About Kansas City Project Linus:
Kansas City Project Linus, serving Cass county, MO and Johnson and Wyandotte Counties in KS, was formally a part of The Greater Kansas City chapter of Project Linus. On March 9, 2009 the larger chapter was divided up into two smaller chapters. We are looking forward to serving these counties. Patty Gregory is the chapter coordinator. She served as chapter coordinator for 8 years for The Greater Kansas City chapter. After a year off she is now back at the coordinator for this chapter. Kathy Chrisman is the chapter assistant. Patty and Kathy will be happy to help in anyway they can. Our chapter and the Joplin MO chapter will host a mini conference in Kansas City Sept 10th and 11th 2010! This is huge! Carol and Mary will be coming from the National office. Sept 10th will be for Coordinators and their spouses from all the surronding states and then on Sept 11th we will have an expo/thank you for all our volunteers as well as coordinators. Mark your calendars now for Sept 2010 because this will be huge and awesome...you won't want to miss it.
