![]() The Missouri Pilots Association is a non-profit organization operating for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes. Founded in 1953, it operates under section 501(c)3 of the IRS code. MPA's goals are to improve aviation safety, provide educational opportunities, promote a positive image for GA, and to protect and preserve the rights of pilots and owners of aircraft. We promote aviation safety through publications, visual presentations, meetings and seminars. Some of these activities are presented in collaboration with other aviation organizations and with the FAA. The MPA has a total of 14 chapters in the 7 districts in the state that represent about 1,500 members. The Bolivar Chapter was founded in November, 1997. The chapter was formed approximately one year after the opening of the new airport in Bolivar (M17). It has been growing steadily ever since. In the Summer of 1998 the chapter elected to adopt the nickname of the "Liberator" chapter. The town of Bolivar was named after the South American Liberator Simon Bolivar. The High School teams also bear the name of the "Liberators". The Bolivar Chapter has 62 members. The monthly meetings are normally held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at "The Plane Cafe" located at the Bolivar Municipal Airport. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
