The first president of Kiwanis International was George F. Hixson of Rochester, New York. He served in 1916 and 1917 and is the only International President to serve for two terms. The Hixson Fellowship of the Kiwanis International Foundation is named in his honor; Hixson Medals are presented to donors who have contributed at least $1,000 to the foundation's special Hixson Endowment Fund.

Marshfield (MO) High School Key Club
KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL is the largest high school service organization in the world, targeting young people from age 15-19. Dedicated to involving students in community service, the organization has a total membership of 232,316 in 4,882 clubs located in 20 nations. Ozark Empire Kiwanis sponsors two Key Clubs. The Hillcrest High School club was chartered in 1960 and the Marshfield (Missouri) Key Club was chartered in 2001.
In the Spring of 2001 Jim Jones, a new faculty member at Marshfield High School contacted Ozark Empire Kiwanis club with the idea of sponsoring a new Key Club. Mr. Jones had been the faculty advisor of a Key Club in the past and was anxious to start one at MHS. Since there is no Kiwanis Club in Marshfield he was directed to the Kiwanis clubs in nearby Springfield. Ozark Empire Kiwanis members voted unanimously to sponsor the new club and on September 24, 2001 the new club held it's charter ceremony and installation of officers. There are more than 200 Key Clubs in the Missouri-Arkansas District. The Marshfield Key Club quickly earned recognition within the Missouri-Arkansas District and continues to be one of the most respected Key Clubs in the District.
