Temporary Medicaid during pregnancy (TEMP) is a program administered by the Missouri Department of Social Services to provide early access to prenatal care for pregnant women for a temporary period until they can apply for and begin receiving full Medicaid Coverage. If you are eligible for TEMP, you will receive a temporary Medicaid card. The temporary card will only be good for a short period of time. All prenatal care services must be received from a provider that is enrolled in Medicaid. Before you receive the service, you should ask if your provider in enrolled and if they will accept you as a TEMP patient. Your TEMP card is good from the first day you apply at the Health Department to the last day of the next month. During that time you must go to the Division of Family Services and apply for Full Medicaid Benefits. If you do not apply during that time period for your full Medicaid benefits your coverage will end on the date indicated on your TEMP card.
