Class Activities - Monthly Listing PAST CLASS GATHERINGS MAY - TRIVIA NIGHT WITH SONlight LIFE GROUP - The first annual trivia night was held this month in the Fellowship Hall at Lynwood Baptist Church. Janice Jones worked hard to get the questions for the participants and it sounds like she did a bang up job of stumping everyone. There were sandwiches, chips, dip, salads to be enjoyed by one and all. MARCH - On Friday, March 27 at 6:00 our class is held a lasagna/spaghetti supper for the mission week-end. FEBRUARY - The small group dinners had a Valentine theme AND was held on February 14 - no surprise. From the sounds of things, everyone had a wonderful time getting to know each other a little better. If you would be willing to host/hostesses a small group, 6-8 people including yourself, please let Marliyn or Loretta Templeton know. As a host/hostess you would decide and fix the main course. The others assigned to your group would bring salad, vegetables, dessert, etc., or you pick a restaurant that everyone meets at to eat and visit.
JANUARY - We decided to go ahead with the class chili/soup/sandwich supper on January 31 at the home of Wanda and Wendell Wyatt. We even had drivers to shuttle us right down to the Wyatt's door. When you are ready to go, you will board the "shuttle bus" to go back to your car. We had a good crowd turn out to enjoy the Wyatt's gracious hospitality. Be sure and look at the slideshow under activities photos. December - Dean, from the Shining Light Ministry in Charleston, Missouri was very excited about our participation in their Christmas project and grateful for our generosity in providing shirts for "His Kids." We had almost 100 names ranging from 3 to 16 years given to our class and our class ministry for this Christmas was to purchase two, dress shirts/tops that could be worn to church for each child's name that we selected. On Sunday, December 20th a group from our class rode down to the Shining Light Christmas Party rehearsal. Super Shoppers got together at My Daddy's Cheesecake for breakfast at 9:00 on the 22nd. After breakfast, they hit the stores and we hear that Karen is the savviest shopper amongst us when it comes to bargains and getting the most bang for your buck!
![]() Three lucky kids will get these tops! From Mary Ann: "My prayer is that God will use our gifts to make not only a happier Christmas for a child, but through them, we can show His love to them and that it will make a real difference in their lives. These projects are not for our glory, but to glorify God and to win others for His kingdom."
December 6th - Annual Christmas Gathering at the Templeton's home was the usual success it always is for one and all. This is an annual blessing that Loretta and Bob share with family and friends when they open their home to us for good fellowship and good food. Mark it on your calendar now for December next year. Which date? Mark all Saturdays - that way you will be sure to make it! SEPTEMBER 20 - Fish Fry @ the Morgan's home at 6 pm. The usual process when our class gets together is that everyone brings a dish to share and someone cooks up enough or buys enough of a main meat item to fill us up! Well, this time it was a group effort to fry up catfish to fill our tummies twice over and make us groan. Gene and Marilyn Morgan opened up their home to an overflowing crowd Saturday evening along with Pastor Mark, his wife and daughter. When this happens, it's guaranteed to be a great evening of fellowship along with excellent food. If this class can do one thing to perfection, that is cook! We'll see you at the next gathering in October!!! AUGUST 16 - Soup/Salad/Sandwich Dinner - Ken and Beverly Johnson have invited the class to their home at 2965 Beaver Creek Dr., in Cape. Your care group leader can let you know what to bring at 6 pm that evening. But you know what? You just can't go wrong by bringing either soup, salad or sandwiches to share. Most important is that you come and fellowship with everyone! JULY - SONlight Life Group Extended Family Hot Dog and Hamburger Dinner @ church on July 19th. About 25 family and friends gathered for good food and fellowship at the picnic pavillion at Lynwood. Not only did we have hot dogs and hamburgers that were grilled to perfection, there were delicious side dishes. fruits, veggies and desserts that everyone brought to share too! The piece de resistance was homemade ice cream that Vicki brought - chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. If you weren't into ice cream, then there were delicious cakes, brownies, pies, watermelon and blackberries to nibble on. Don't believe us? See pictures under Activities Photos on the homepage. JUNE MAY - BBQ Dinner - is going to be at Strawberries BBQ Restaurant in Holcomb, MO. The church bus will leave the parking lot at 3 pm, May 17th. Contact the Morgans' if you plan on riding along. This is a great place to eat and everyone comes away full. Reservations are a must anytime of the week. APRIL MARCH |
