We only have one chance to make a “first impression.”

Knowing some successful tips will aid us in appearing professional and confident These tips from Dennis R. Tesdell include:

  • Appear neat and dress appropriately;
  • Smile;
  • Shake hands when meeting and parting;
  • Maintain good eye contact;
  • Relax and be yourself;
  • Don’t brag or name-drop;
  • Part with a smile, handshake and sincere, friendly comment or compliment.

These same basic practices will also help us be better Toastmasters when it’s our turn to speak in front of a group.

Taken from “The Top 10 Ways to Make a Good First Impression” by Dennis R. Tesdell, professional personal development and business coach.
