The start of a whole new year for all of us here

at Whiskers and Tails finds us hard at work.

We will be quite busy getting grants completed and

making media inquiries to get the message out that

we are looking for a donated piece of land with

pre- exisiting buildings on it.

There are tons of projects to get done and of course

we have already started collecting donations for our

Hope for the Holidays Project 2012.

We are also planning our fundraising activities for the year.

We were nominated for the Walmart 12 Days of Giving.

Whiskers and Tails Announces the launch of our biggest and last campaign

“Pets People & Places“

A multi project capital renovation building and general operating campaign.

Set to begin November 25th, 2011 and end November 25th, 2012.

Our goal is $4 million dollars and all proceeds will go towards

the renovation of our current facility and the building of our

new facility as well as our daily general operating costs.

Project Description (s)

Pets –

Every single day across the state of Missouri dogs and

cats are abused abandoned dumped tortured given up to over

crowded shelters where they have no chance to be adopted. They

are given away to total strangers in free to good home ads as

if they were nothing more than curb side trash. They are

starved to death and they are killed inhumanely. Our area needs

a place where people can turn for their humane issues that will

provide help with food safe adoptions and education. Our goal

with this part of the project is to decrease over population

and increase owner retention.

People –

Missouri’s unemployment rate has hit a staggering number and

yet nothing seems to be getting done about it. Programs exist

that allow us to keep our homes if we make our payments but

what happens when we cannot pay? Our programs can help low to

no income companion animal families and individuals to get jobs

and get back on their feet.

Places –

two projects in one and without a doubt the key elements to

this entire campaign.

Our board members own two one hundred year old homes that are

located in an older downtown business district. These homes are

commercially zoned and at present are being used to store our

current donated items as well as past donations that are

allocated for use when our new facility is built. It is our

belief that these properties could be put to good use by

renovating them and creating our states first ever Minority Co-op.

The second element of this part of the project is to build

Missouri’s first and only All inclusive human/animal assistance

facility. Starting from the grass roots for this project we

will need everything from land to building materials.

What we are working on right now

We are currently completing several grant applications in the

hopes of gaining the funding that is needed to complete

Some new and innovative programs for our community.

A mobile unit that will allow low to no income companion

animal families and individuals to have the resources and

the tools that they need to get back to work.

We are also working on a huge trap/neuter project that will

bring aid assistance and rescue to several abandoned cats and

who were left behind in abandoned and foreclosed homes.

Two fundraisers are planned for each of these projects

each two weeks ahead of time so that you can mark your

calendars.

We are also working on gaining more physical support.

Volunteers are needed in so many projects that we

decided to make a categorized list of each opportunity.
