![]() WHISKERS AND TAILS PROFILE Whiskers and Tails Profile Page One - Whiskers and Tails Profile After moving back to the town that I grew up in I noticed that not much had changed. There were still pregnant sick or dying feral and stray animals all over the place. I never could deal with that very well and when I was growing up I was always bringing home a dog or a cat or something. I looked up every single humane organization that I could find and got busy contacting them. Hoping that they would be able to come down and help these poor innocent beings. It frustrated me beyond belief when only a few returned my messages and they could not offer help because their facilities were full to over flowing, they did not have the man power or the funds or the interest to be able to do anything. It did not take me long to realize that no help was coming. If anything was going to be done about this situation I had to be the one to do it. I got busy and completed all of the paper work and before long my plans had turned into a fully registered tax exempt non profit organization. I rolled up my sleeves and went to work. Humanely trapping the sickest ones first and than the pregnant ones and than the ones that needed to be altered. By the time one year had passed we had rescued over 450 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. During that year we not only saw but experienced first hand the bigger picture. Abuse, abandonment, cruelty, dumping , neglect, inhumane treatment and more. It was than and there that I decided that we had to do more that just trap neuter return. We had to create a humane entity that would truly make a difference in our community and in the world of animals. We had to end the needless suffering and death of these precious beings.
![]() WHISKERS AND TAILS HISTORY Whiskers and Tails History Page Two- Whiskers and Tails History Whiskers and Tails became a non profit organization in September of 2001. Since than we have rescued or assisted in the rescue or provided aid to over 1000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. I sat down with a spiral bound notebook and started making plans. I created a rescue plan, a humane education plan and of course the plans for animal assistance along with human assistance to round the whole thing off. Our small goals were to slowly introduce humane alternatives, ideas, resources and information as we educated our rural community on the facts about why over population exists, why there is a need for humane organizations and what each and every single person could do to help. As we met each small goal we started to set bigger ones. We developed several humane projects and programs and while we were busy doing that we created a safe haven for the rescued special needs through our animal care network that is made up of caring individuals such as seniors in independent living situations and families that are able to help us to provide some of their medical care. Through these humane activities we have been able to build a solid reputation and a solid foundation.
![]() WHISKERS AND TAILS MISSION Page Three - Whiskers and Tails Mission Our mission is to decrease over population by active rescue, humane education and public speaking. We plan to put an end to the needless suffering and death of these innocent beings. We will provide humane alternatives, ideas, resources and information to anyone that is willing to help an animal. We will also provide various types of assistance to humans that are the families of companion animals. In May of 2009 will be amending our articles of incorporation to include these various forms of assistance to humans that are the families of companion animals. Our organization will be the first to perform these types of humane activities for our community. Our mission is geared to cover the four main points that make up all areas of humane assistance: Decreasing over population. Providing humane resources, alternatives, information and ideas. By offering assistance to companion animal families so that they may get the help that need in order to be able to keep their companion animals. By offering humane education at every opportunity that arises. We will also make sure to perform active rescue and information for every single animal that needs assistance that is involved in inhumane situations. In today’s world there is absolutely no reason to allow abuse and neglect to continue . For our fellow man to turn his or her head when an animals is suffering is senseless. Nine times out of ten when an animal is being abused on the outside a child or a woman is being abused on the inside.
![]() WHAT WE DO Page Four - What we do & Who we serve & Our Board We perform active rescue, we provide a forever home sanctuary to several forever home special needs rescued animals. We create and share humane education materials as well as provide humane resources, ideas and alternatives to people and animals all over the world. We decrease over population as well as promote spay and neuter at ever single opportunity that arises and we also provide assistance for the families of companion animals. That assistance comes in the form of clothing, food, a directory of assistance programs and holiday meals and gifts. We serve our own community as well as the Bates County Missouri area. This population is made up of low to no income families and their animals that live in rural areas where no humane programs exist.

![]() OUR STORY IDEA FOR THE NEWS Our Story Ideas for the news Page Ten - Our Story Ideas for the News Not only is Whiskers and Tails humane projects and programs full of human interest story ideas there is quite a bit more to us than most people are aware of.. We also help people that are in need of food, clothing and other basic needs for life. We work several months out of the year to gather these items and than we deliver them just before Christmas. We are also working on a huge project that once completed will be a historical event in its own right. By building our facility in Bates County Missouri we are breaking ground for the introduction of humane education, the introduction of the connection between domestic violence and animal abuse and this project will mean a dramatic difference in the old myth of the farmer’s mentality about animals. One more thing of great interest is our Children’s literacy and humane education program. Through self published books we are teaching kids to read and teaching them to care about life. Especially the lives of innocent animals.
