The Whiteman Officers' Spouses' Club is a non-profit organization whose mission is to organize and sponsor educational, charitable, and social activities. The goal is to provide information of interest to the members and to foster the ideals of charity and fellowship.

The charity of the month is Whiteman Holiday Food Baskets. We will be collecting items at the social on Thursday. The food baskets are made for airmen that have a hard time making the purchases for Thanksgiving themselves. They need non-perishable holiday food donations as well as monetary donations to purchase the perishables the week of Thanksgiving. They were not specific as to what non-perishable products they needed, but anything you would use to make something for Thanksgiving would be greatly appreciated. Some ideas would be canned green beans, french fried onions, cream of mushroom soup, canned pumpkin, cranberry sauce, and gravy mix. Any items you can think of will be put to good use!
The Thrift Shop will be open on Oct 14th - I erroneously reported it to be closed in the Legacy.

Menu: Hamburger/ Cheeseburger/ Hot dog Basket (basket includes string Fries) a variety of soda, tea and water. Dessert: Homemade Milkshakes - Chocolate, Strawberry or Vanilla
RSVP to Glenda Alexander by noon October 5th at 660.687.7668 or via email at alexander.glenda@gmail.com. When you RSVP please let her how many you are RSVPing for, if you would like a hamburger, cheese burger or hotdog and which flavor of milkshake you prefer.
*There will be squadrons with tables set up to sell items (shirts, mugs, glasses etc.). These are great ideas for holiday gifts! So, if you are interested in purchasing some of those much needed items for family members, tables will be open for business starting at 6p.m. and ending promptly at 7p.m.

Everyone loves local cookbooks, and this one is on SALE! The OSC has created a great one with 200 recipes from our members. It will become a great keepsake to remember your time at Whiteman. A steal at $10.00, contact Dionna Templin or (660)747-0015 to get your copy.
The fundraiser's proceeds will not only assist the WOSC but a majority of the money raised will benefit our charitable works in and around our local area, to include the military community!
As many of us know, there are many functions to attend throughout the year that require formal attire for our spouses. Functions such as ALS graduation, quarterly and yearly awards, induction ceremonies and of course the Air Force Ball. We encourage our young troops and their spouses to attend but fail to realize that many of them are unable due to costs of tickets and formal attire.
The Cinderella Project was started in 2006 (Seymour Johnson AFB) collecting formal gowns for spouses who were unable to afford one. These gowns were made available to any spouse who needed one, free of charge. They simply walked in, pick one out, and took it home with them. It was theirs to keep, or if they chose, they could have it cleaned and brought back for someone else.
Let's start the Cinderella Project here at Whiteman AFB and start collecting formal evening gowns for our spouses. Let's give them the opportunity to attend the many military functions they otherwise couldn’t due to costs of tickets and formal attire/dress. It is a wonderful project, the smiles, tears of happiness and endless thank you’s tell a story in itself.
If you have any formal gowns, shoes, accessories that you would like to donate to a wonderful project it would be greatly appreciated.
