STATS 
  • Nationally, 8 out of 10 girls who become pregnant at age 17 or younger never complete high school.
  • Teen pregnancies are a special problem because of the increased health risks to the baby and the negative social consequences for both mother and baby.
  • According to national data, during FY 1996--the year for which the most recent data is available-teen childbearing costs taxpayers more than $38 billion. A report from the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy indicated that nationally, $2,831 was spent per teen mother About $4.5 million was spent on Mississippi's teen mothers.
  • Mississippi has one of the highest percentages of births to teens in the nation.

We are a non-profit organization focused on pregnancy prevention and support for our youth. Our methods include:

  • In-school lessons with students regarding abstinence
  • Informational sessions for parents of teens
  • In-school support groups for pregnant & parenting youth
  • Support Groups for Parents of Pregnant & Parenting Youth
  • Regular social events for pregnant & parenting youth
  • Providing in-home visits to pregnant and parenting youth as needed
  • Providing pregnant & parenting youth with necessities
  • Network of resources to all of those in need!
 PROJECT GOALS
    Decrease:
  • Number of Youth Pregnancies
  • Number of Unhealthy Pregnancies & Low-Birth Weight Babies
  • Amount of Ridicule among Fellow Students & Other Aggressors
  • Municipal Costs associated with Pregnant & Parenting Youth
    Increase:
  • Number of Responsible Fathers
  • Awareness & Prevention among Youth & Community
  • Success in School among Pregnant & Parenting Youth
  • Support & Acceptance of Pregnant & Parenting Youth
  • Acceptance for Abstinence
  • Number of Parents who Speak to their Children about Sex
