What Happens to Your Donated Blanket? After you donate a blanket to Project Linus there are several things that happen before the blanket is given to a child. First, we will double check to ensure that there are no pins left in the fabric, no seams that have come undone, no embellishments that might come off, etc. If need be, we will wash the blanket. After we are confident that the blanket is safe for a child, we sew on a Project Linus label. This label has an image of Linus with his blanket (can’t reproduce it here for copyright reasons) and says “Made especially for you by Project Linus”.
Finally, we attach a tag that on one side has a poem written by a PL coordinator in Michigan (read the poem below) and on the other side the first name and last initial of the blanketeer. It is now ready to go to a child!
I can sit here in my room at night
When you hold this blanket in your arms
So dry your tears and smile a smile
