 News and Reminders
Traveling Teapot – A teapot is traveling through our chapter! The purpose of the teapot is to get to know each other a little better. So, you may soon get a call. Here is how it works: Glenda Elliott was the first name drawn. She will draw a name from the teapot and make arrangements with that person to meet for tea, coffee or whatever. When they meet, Glenda will hand over the teapot to the person whose name she drew. Then, that person will draw a name, make arrangements to meet with the person whose name she drew, give her the teapot, and etc. Eventually, all of the names will be drawn and each of us will have had a chance to connect with another chapter member. If we like the idea, we’ll start it over again!
Reminders from Queen Pat-in-a-Hat –
The Royal Treasury Proclamation – Assessment to cover charter and ongoing expenses. Please send a check for $20, before January 1, 2008, to Marge Pavlick, 411 Westview Drive, Missoula, MT 59803 by January 1, 2008 to retain your membership in the chapter. Make the check out to Missoula Really, Really Red Tough Old Broads
Royal Request – Now, ladies, we know that red hatting is about taking “recess” from the difficulties of life, and as such our intent is to PLAY together. Even so, some duties must be attended to, so at our September 10 meeting, I asked for your Royal assistance in arranging for events. Please join with one or two (or more) of your chapter sisters in selecting a month for which you will plan a gathering. Just let me know which month you would like … and then you are free to plan any kind of event you wish. I have a list of ideas, if you need some! Then, either send the invitations yourself or let me know and I will do that for you.
Royal Titles Proclamation – Ladies, you know that each and every one of you is a valued member of the Royal Court and, as such, you are Royalty! So, by Royal Proclamation, each of you is hereby encouraged to pick a title and name for yourself. Your Royal title may be anything that you choose, such as Empress, Duchess, Princess, Lady, Countess, Contessa, etc. Our newest Royal is Donna Gaskin who, being of German heritage, has appointed herself Baroness von Lila. (Lila is German for lilac.) The Baroness joins others who have taken a Royal Title: Dame PlumPurple (Jo Daniels), Lady Red Rosie Posie (Rosie Dawkins), Princess Precious Plum (Glenda Elliott), Princess Plum Silly (Pam Shelton) and Duchess Dee Purple (Doreen Shafizadeh). Some of you have selected a name and you are encouraged to add a title: Cheery Cherry (Felicia Goodman), Crafty Lady (Helen Brady), Shady Lady (Carol Johnson) and Shady Lady, Too (Shirley Sweeney). So, be thinking of an appropriate title and name and let me know!
Another Royal Proclamation: As the holidays approach, we red hatters are overwhelmed with requests for assistance, whether it is for fundraising or volunteering for various projects. While each and every one of these requests have merit, the Missoula Queens have Proclaimed that it is not appropriate for our chapters to accept these requests. Many of us already volunteer for a multitude of good causes and we encourage each of you to continue to do that. However, the Red Hat Society was created to help women take “recess” from the various things in life that take their time and energy. Our time together is intended to be “play” time!
Scrapbook - I am looking for a chapter member to assume the duties of our Herstorian, which has been held by Betty St. John. The Herstorian keeps a record of chapter events by keeping a chapter scrapbook. Please let me know if you are willing to be our Herstorian! |
