Project Night Night is a non-profit organization who donates over 25,000 Night Night Packages each year. These are given free of charge, to homeless children and children in domestic abusive shelters who need childhood essentials to feel secure, cozy, ready to learn, and significant. Every child who receives one of their Night Night Packages leaves the shelter owning a book which encourages reading and family bonding, a security blanket which can be cuddled, and a stuffed animal which can become a cherished friend all nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag. They have one objective – to deliver their Night Night Packages to every homeless child in the country who needs one. These Night Night Totes stay in our community. This was started by WSMW 98.7 Simon DJ Carmen Brown. They are collecting new unwrap toys for the toy rooms at Brenner’s Children Hospital. This is her story: My son Tyson had a reaction that affected his immune system and had to stay in Brenner's Children Hospital for a short while. Tyson was hooked up to all kinds of machines and when he finally got to walk around, I pulled him in the 'little red wagon' up and down the halls as long as we could! The little red wagons and the Toy room amazed me and made me realize how this gives a child a chance to be a kid while in the hospital. While I was there, I saw kids that were in and out many times or had been in the hospital for a while. Luckily we did not have to stay there that long, but because of seeing this first hand I started 'Operation Tyson's Toys' to fill the rooms with more toys. I thought this would be a great way to celebrate Tyson’s 2nd Birthday and start the path of giving back in his life. He is doing GREAT today, this happened back in March 2010.
