Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte Metro Chapter of the Florida A&M University (FAMU) National Alumni Association will hold it's annual golf tournament on Monday, October 13, 2008 (Columbus Day) at the Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe, North Carolina. One of the chapter’s main goals is to support Charlotte Metro high school students who are interested in attending college and more specifically Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. Through scholarships, this organization opens the door of opportunity for students to achieve their dreams.This tournament is the major fundraiser used to fund scholarships that to date have totaled over $21,000. The tournament has an onsite registration time of 7:00 AM with tee time of 8:00 AM. There will be a shotgun start and the format is Two Person,Captains Choice. Female players are encouraged to participate as there will be Ladies flight of 10 players. Fundraising Project for 2008-2009~ We are now selling tickets for the Southpark Evening of Giving event held this fall. Like last year, the chapter will be selling tickets to this event that allows ticket holders the opportunity to shop after hours at Southpark Mall. Participating stores offer special incentives and discounts and there is usually live entertaiment and food tasting. Please be ready to purchase or sell a few tickets to this worthwhile event that supports both our chapter and the Simon Corporation Foundation. >Community Service Project The chapter will be working in conjunction with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Parks and Recreation Department to build a playground without barriers during the weekend of October 3-5. Volunteers are needed.
We will also be hosting a voter registration drive on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept 30, October 2nd, October 6th, October 9th at the main transportation center located on W. Trade Street in front of Bobcats Arena. We will meet at 5:45. Please come out if you are available.

The National Alumni Association is in the middle of the 2008 membership drive! The cost, which includes your local, regional and national dues is for individuals is $70 and $110 for couples. Please remember, your dues help us keep this chapter afloat and continue to do the great work of supporting our Alma Mater and sending new Rattlers to the Hill each year.
