WHAT IS THE PTO?
The DES PTO is a not for profit organization that supports a stable, high-quality, productive and safe educational experience for all DES students, while maintaining an open communication channel among the school administration, staff, students, parents and community. The PTO promotes the welfare of children and youth in the home, school and community and also provides funding and support for Denton Elementary programs and activities.

PTO Committee Responsibilities
Ways and Means
- Oversee the execution of all PTO related functions (fundraisers, events and activities)
Hospitality
- Make everyone that interacts with the PTO feel welcome
- Make sure all staff, students, parents or community partners are shown appreciation when deserving recognition
Membership
- Secure members (both new and previous members)
- Proactively seek membership through various medias (newsletter, web site) as well as at PTO functions
- Run primary membership drive at beginning of school year
- Coordinate with other committees on resources (publicity, thanks, etc) to ensure all members are kept well informed and given acknowledgement. Serve as primary contact with PTO questions, comments or concerns and should relay those to the appropriate party to have addressed
Volunteer Coordinator
- Solicits and secures volunteers from the membership for PTO of school needs
- Keep an organized database that is accessible to other committees and ensure that all members are given the opportunity to help
- Coordinate with other committees on an ongoing basis to ensure that the appropriate volunteers are present when needed
Publicity
- Coordinates marketing, communication and advertising needs of the PTO
- Maintains the PTO Web site and newsletter
- Coordinate with other committees on an ongoing basis to develop materials as needed (flyers, posters, press releases, newsletter/web updates, etc.)
Administration
- Represents the school's administration and relays information/needs to and from the PTO
Teacher Rep
- Represents the school's teachers/staff and relays information/needs to and from the PTO
