Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to help people in need by building decent affordable homes thereby improving communities and strengthening families one home at a`time.

WHAT WE DO

Elizabeth City Habitat for Humanity builds houses in partnership with people in need for housing, ability to repay a non-profit mortgage and willingness to partner with Elizabeth City Habitat giving many hours toward the construction of their home. Mortgage payments contribute to a fund for Habitat for Humanity which in turn provides the money to build additional houses. Because of Habitat's no profit loans and because the houses are principally built with volunteer labor, mortgage payments are affordable for low-income partners.

AS A VOLUNTEER

Board members and others serve on committees that include Family Nurture, Family Selection, Fund Raising, Grant Writing and Solicitation, Publicity, Site Selection, and Volunteer Coordination.

AS A CONTRIBUTOR

Funds to build Habitat houses come from individuals, churches, civic organizations, corporations and foundations. Individual contributions are tax deductible, and regardless of the amount - they are always appreciated!

Volunteers are special!! You may have special skills or not but volunteering will bring many rewards. You may even learn a new skill in the process.

SOMETHING NEW!! DO YOU E-BAY? IF SO YOU CAN JOIN OUR MAJOR EFFORT THIS NEW YEAR--Habitat for Humanity recently received a generous donation from Wells Fargo of three foreclosed properties which will provide three deserving families with decent housing who otherwise will be living in very difficult circumstances. Along with this gift the following stipulations will need to be made: (1) Purchase the three adjoining lots at the fair market value (2) Provide infrastructure (sewer and water connections) for all six lots, which requires expensive sewer connections due to the lay of the land (3) Complete additional work on homes (molding,interior, steps, appliances and clean-up) (4)Select 3 deserving families who are willing to partner with us in paying a no-interest mortgage and providing "sweat equity" or work hours on their home and future homes to gain the hours needed to qualify and (5) RAISE APPROXIMATELY $75,000 to complete the requirements.CHECK OUT E-BAY AS YOU SHOP.
