Welcome to the Home Page of the Riverwood Elementary PTA!

The mission of the PTA is three-fold:

To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the school, in the community, and before government agencies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.

To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;

To encourage parent and public involvement in the education of the children in our community.

Parents! Please check the web page often for the latest information on the PTA and our school!!

We are excited to celebrate our teachers and staff during the upcoming Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3rd through 7th. We hope that you will join us in reminding them daily of our great appreciation for the amazing job that they are doing to help our children to grow and learn. We’d like to offer the following suggestions for saying ‘thank you’ each day. If you would like a list of his/her ‘favorite things,’ please see your room mom.

Monday

Summer is coming soon and your teacher may be making plans for a few months of rest and relaxation by the pool, plans to organize her closets, plans to catch up on a hobby, or maybe even plans to travel. Help kick-start those plans by bringing a summer reminder such as a cup, magazine, notepad, ice cream gift card, towel, tote bag, sunscreen or something special for her favorite hobby or travel spot.

Tuesday

Everyone loves a sweet treat! Please bring a sweet token of your thanks. Some ideas for an extra-special way to say ‘thanks’ include:

Kudos ® to You!
You are worth 100 Grand ®!
Thanks for all the laughs and Snickers ®< br> You are Out of this World! (Mars ® or Milky Way ®)
You Deserve a Sweet Escape ® for All You Do!
Thanks for the Mounds ® of Work You Do!
You are M&M!!! (Marvelous and Magnificant)
You are O'FISH'ally Awesome!(Gold Fish ® crackers)
You Deserve an Extra Payday ®!
Thanks for always being willing to do EXTRA ®! (Gum)
You are a JOY! (Almond Joy ®)
You were "mint" to be a teacher!
Snack bag of chips with note "You're all that and a bag of chips!"
Have a poppin' good weekend! (popcorn)

Wednesday

Shower your teacher with flowers! If each child brings a single flower, imagine the beautiful bouquet that each teacher will have to remind them of the seeds of knowledge they are planting in your child. Other ideas include a hanging basket, potted herb, or a bush or flower to plant in their yard.

Thursday

Your child may spend hours a day taking notes from his/her teacher. This is a wonderful opportunity to write a note of thanks from you and your student. Be sure to have your student illustrate the note or write a personal message.

Friday

Since our teachers have a ‘full plate,’ meal planning may not be a priority. Please send your teacher a copy of your favorite family recipe. Your student might enjoy decorating a note card for you to send, or you may decide to type the recipe and allow them to decorate the paper.

Also, please don’t forget your child’s BEP teachers (Art, Counselors, Library, Lightspan, Music, PE and Technology). They also pour their hearts into growing your child’s creativity and stretching his/her imagination.

As well, if you own a business or would be willing to donate an item or service, we are seeking donations for daily raffle gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week. If you are willing and able to donate, please contact Michelle at georgiagirlsatheart@gmail.com or Rachel at (919) 210-3306.
