Julie Barnhill Brings Wit and Wisdom to Sandhills
Called the "Erma Bombeck of the 21st century," Julie Barnhill is the refreshingly relevant voice of authentic living for women across the globe. And in March of 2010, she's bringing her message to Moore County! Armed with a razor-sharp acerbic wit, Julie dedicates herself to proclaiming the sublime, sentimental, and sometimes subversive truths of life, home, and family. Coupled with a disarmingly charming self-deprecating sense of humor, she unapologetically sets herself apart as mothering expert, author, international speaker, and popular media guest. Once a guest expert on The Oprah Show, Julie inspires and challenges audiences to action, tackling subjects from the sublime (learning to embrace one’s cellulite) to the serious and provocative (motherhood, anger, and abuse). There are two chances to hear Julie: the evening of Friday, March 5 and the morning of Saturday, March 6. Tickets we be available in January 2010. Be sure to check back for updates!
Sandhills MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) offers a break from all of that through fellowship with other women who have landed on Planet Mom. Together, the mothers of Sandhills MOPS are navigating this strange land with inspiring speakers, friendship, crafts, and a hot brunch!
Sandhills MOPS kicked off the fall semester in September with 58 mothers of preschoolers and 8 mentor moms. We are thrilled to begin a new year but deeply regret that the MOPPETS program (childcare during the meetings) is filled to capacity.
If you would like a slot on the waiting list for Sandhills MOPS, please download registration forms by clicking on the "Join Us!" link to the left. Please note there are two forms: one for you and one for your child. Complete both forms, and return them to the mailing address below. We will keep your information on our waiting list in the event a slot opens up.
Openings are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
What is MOPS?
Being a mother of a preschooler is a wonderful, magical, and incredibly rewarding time. But it's also busy, exhausting, and -let's be honest- a little crazy! We all need a break once in a while to relax, recharge, and refresh ourselves.
MOPS is the place to meet new friends and develop deep, meaningful relationships while engaging your brain in adult conversation on stimulating topics. Past speakers have addressed topics as varied as home decor and organization to teaching children reading skills and facing discipline challenges. And you get all this while your children are being lovingly cared for in our parallel program, MOPPETS.

Sandhills MOPS is chartered by MOPS International, a group for Mothers of PreSchoolers. MOPS exists to meet the needs of mothers in the North Carolina Sandhills area. We are mothers from different backgrounds who all share a common desire to be the very best moms we can be.
