Venture Crew 513 hosts a annual event that takes companies and volunteer sportsman and puts them together where they share there love and experiences of the great outdoors with our area youth.

It is a day long event, for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Crews. This year we will have a carnival style event where everyone is free to visit each station at any time.
The youth wil be having lunch on their own
They then gather at the end of the day to receive door prizes such as BB guns, Rod/Reel Combos, tackle boxes, hunting blinds, bow and arrow sets, etc.
It is held at Camp Woodfield Presevation, an 800 acre preserve, about 6 miles out of Asheboro, North Carolina on route 64.

It is our goal to educate, through hands on experiences, to teach them how to enjoy the great outdoors in a safe manner,
that can bond together families,
maybe even create traditions that may last for generations.

Some of these youth would not otherwise get to experience hunting and fishing, if it were not for this event.

If you are interested and sharing your knowledge and love of the great outdoors, then contact us below to help run a station for the event.

If your company would like to donate supplies, materials, etc.
Please contact me below so I can have you added to our sponsor area on the sign up flyers for the event.

I want to thank all of the 80 to 100 volunteers, many different organizations and groups
that make it possible for this day to take place for our youth.

It is very important that we all realize that we must continue to have events like this one;
it is our responsibility to educate our youth, they are our future.

Thanks
Mike Baker

Scout Hunt-N-Fish Day has been cancelled for 2014.
As in all areas of scouting evolution is apart of our every day lives. It brings about newness and change. Back in 2006 Yvonne and I had an idea to put together a program to introduce the great outdoors to the youth of our communities. Sportsman and organizations alike volunteered and were willing to spend their time sharing their love of the great outdoors with the youth. This is what has made the event what it has grown to be today. It has been a pleasure working with every one of you. But as I mentioned above, it is time for evolution to take place, for someone else to be the chairman of SHFDay.

With that said Yvonne and I will be stepping down and turning over the event to Ann Jones, Program Director for the Old North State Council Boy Scouts of America. She will become the go to person for the event. Her phone number is 336-378-9166, her email is annjone@bsamail.org. She will be running the event as well as the facebook page and website. We hope to return in 2015.
Yvonne and I will still be involved in the US Sportsman's Alliance Trailblazer Program, for this event as the local field directors.

I want to personally thank you for what you have meant to me, my family, and the youth and families that have attended the event. You have made a difference in their lives.....
As always I thank you for what you do for our youth,
They are our future.
They are our responsibility......

The great outdoors would not live beyond ourselves if we did not share it with the next generation...

Yours truly, Mike and Yvonne Baker
