SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16th, 2008

CARVED & WOODBURNED FOLK ANGEL

TEACHER: Debbie Wilson

Workshop fee: $20.00

Last date to register: Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Supplies needed: Participants will need a rotary carving tool, small carving bits (it's helpful to have a chuck that will accept all sizes of carving
bits). You may also want to bring a piece of foam or slip proof mat to rest your project on.

Class fee includes gourds of various colors, reed, cord & glue and Debbie will also bring some small dental burrs that students can use.

SATURDAY, MARCH 15th, 2008

INK PAINTED & WOODBURNED TURTLE BOWL

TEACHER: Larainne Short

Workshop fee: $28.00 Members, $35.00 Non-Members

Last date to register: Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Students will have a choice of one of two patterns of turtles (as shown below) painted in ink and woodburned onto the gourd surface. The bowl
will then be finished with coiled sea grass

Supplies needed: Students will need to bring a bowl gourd, with top cut off using a 5" ring. Gourd design size on Turtle Escape is 4" tall by
4 1/2" wide. Turtle on the Move design size is 3" tall by 5 1/2" wide. Students should also bring wood burner with a small ball tip.

Class fee includes picture, instructions, ink, inking supplies, sea grass and coiling supplies. Larainne will have the pattern packets
for sale for both designs. The sea grass rim can be added to either design.

BARK & REED GOURD BASKET WITH BRAIDED BEAD BORDER

TEACHER: Marianne Barnes

Workshop Fee:With Flat Reed: Members $28.00. Non-Members $35.00. With Cedar Bark: Members $32.00. Non-Members $40.00

Participants will learn how to triple twine with colored reed and weave cedar bark(or flat reed) in the gourd basket.
The rim is a braided border with a unique way of adding beads. This is a fun and easy gourd basket to make.

Level of difficulty: All levels

Class fee includes: Gourd, cut and cleaned with holes drilled; all weaving materials; pattern packet

Supplies needed: Bucket for soaking materials, scissors, spray bottle

Please note: This is a 4 hour class

GOURD/CLAY WORKSHOP - ON GOLDEN POND - A delightful clay turtle on a lily pad, atop a canteen gourd

TEACHER: PEGGY ASH

Workshop Fee: Members: $28.00 Non-Members : $35.00

Teacher will provide: An assortment of colored polymer clay; solid & liquid, cleaned & cut canteen gourds, pearls & an assortment of beads
to choose from. A lesson plan with a picture for future reference and a supplies & sources list as well as a hints & tips page on polymer clay.
Clay tools for class use, texture plates, resist, finish for those that want to have a gloss finish, antiquing for those that wish a flat look,
cyanoacetate glue, pvc glue, fine wire for anchoring beads, hand cleaner, work tiles, pasta machines, ovens, power cords, & baby wipes.

No materials or supplies are needed to be brought by student but, if any workshop participant has old glass or natural beads or pearls that
they would like to incorporate into their piece they are welcome to bring them. Please note that the beads must be able to withstand oven
baking at 275 degrees.

Minimum number of students: 6
Maximum number of students: 14

BASKET BIRDHOUSE WITH GOURD ROOF

TEACHER: Fonda Haddad

A small birdhouse will be woven from basketry reed then attached to a gourd top roof. We will be using round and splint reed as weavers;
creating homes for small birds. The size depends on the variety of gourd roofs available but, generally, they will be 3-5" around
and 6-8" tall.

Supplies needed: A small pail, an old towel, an awl and needle nose pliers.

Class fee includes, gourd pieces, reed, wire etc.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16th, 2008

WAX RESIST-WITH-A-TWIST WALLHANGING

TEACHER: Joy Sutton

Workshop Fee: $25.00

In this Three-in-One class you will make a wall hanging that demonstrates how a simple technique for wax resist can
be done using three different coloring applications which give a variety of effects. You will be shown examples of how
each transfers into an art piece of its own.

Supplies needed : Heat tool [embossing gun], black permanent marker – (Sharpie with fine tip), a controlled temp woodburner with pointed tip,
a small paintbrush for detailing and beads for embellishment (optional).

Class Fee Includes: Cleaned, sanded and pierced gourd pieces, sealer, paper towels, instruction sheets, rubber gloves (optional), candle,
coloring agents (leather dye, Pantone inks, acrylic paints, waterbased ink dye, permanent markers), cotton swabs and wire.

GOURD BASKET

We are going to make the Sweet Little Gourd Basket without the top. Debbie will show how to make the top which can
be made later on your own, if anyone is interested.

Supplies Needed: Students need to bring a water bucket, reed cutters or scissors, clothes pins(2-3),an awl and a
water spray bottle. Also you may want to bring a cover up and a piece of slip proof material to hold the basket
whilst you are working.

Class fee includes all materials to construct basket
