Board Meeting

January 28, 2012

Lincoln, NE

 

The meeting was held with15 members in attendance.  Karen Niedfelt and Sandy Kendall attended for CNLP.

 

NLPA membership is as follows:

               CNLP     15 members, one student, three honorary, for a total of 19

               LLPA  48 members, two students, for a total of 50

               OLPA 45 members, two students, one honorary for a total of 48

               LPAWN 10 members with two new members

 

TOTAL MEMBERSHIP 127; the goal was to reach 130 members.

 

 

The Annual Convention will be May 4, 5 and 6 in Scottsbluff.  The theme is “American Legal Idol”.  The incentives for the Ways and Means will be electronic equipment such as a TV or Kindle.  The MC will be a radio personality.  Friday will be at Robidoux RV Park in Gering; Saturday at the Community College and Sunday at Kerry’s office.  Jody will check to see if some arrangements can be made for lodging.

 

Friday night will be the talent show and they would like for each chapter to participate.

 

The October 2011 Fall Seminar ended with a loss of $137.11.  The theme was “The Power of ‘W’ – Work, Women & Wellness.”  31 registered and 29 were present. 

 

Nominations for State Officers have been received from Grand Island only; nominations are due February 15.

 

The application for the state scholarship is on the website. 

 

The Spring Seminar will be March 17 at Northwest Hill Church in Omaha.  The registration fee is $25 which is due back March 9.  Cancellation date is March 14.  Business casual, no jeans.  Food was discussed.  There will be a full breakfast served and it was suggested we have a lighter lunch.  The registration form will be sent to the Chapter Reps.

 

The Side Bar deadline is February 10, 2012, to Carol Sperry.

 

Shelly Nielsen has done an excellent job on the website/legal education.

 

The next Board Meeting will be March 17, 2012, at the Northwest Hills Church, 9334 Fort Street, Omaha, immediately following the Spring Seminar.
