Looking for teaching opportunites

Our guild board would like to get our guild involved in Lincoln teaching children “how to stitch”. If you know of a group (Girl Scouts, 4-H Club, etc.) that would be interested in learning to stitch, please email us.

2007 Heritage League Tree

Be an ANGEL and stitch an Angel!

The theme for the 2007 tree is Angels! We are hoping to have a variety of stitched angels.

Once again we will doing 2 community service projects with the ornaments for the tree. After being displayed on the tree the Angel ornaments will be donated to the Cancer Resource Center . However, it has been decided that not all stitched angels need to be donated to the Cancer Resource Center.

If you have stitched angels in the past and would like to have them exhibited on the tree, please bring them to a later meeting (November's meeting). Or if you can stitch 2 or 3 and donate 1 to the cause, that would be appreciated also.

There are web sites where you can find angel patterns:

"Kissing Pillows"

We are stitching "Kissing Pillows" for the Nebraska Army National Guard unit in Lincoln

These small pillows are 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 and have a cross stitched design on the front and a patriotic patterned cotton print on the back. They are given to Service Men or Service Women, who are being deployed over-seas, to give to their children as a small gift. The parent kisses the pillow and then gives it/them to their child/children to remind them that their parent loves them.

This project orginated with the Yellow Rose Chapter of Houston, Texas and they have shared the idea with other EGA chapters.

Youth Project

The teaching project with the Browine troop in West Lincoln was a sucess. It looks like all 4 girls and their teachers had a good time.

2005 Community Service Project

We managed to do 2 community service projects in one for 2005! We participated in the GFWC Heritage League’s Annual Holiday of Trees again. This time the decorations for the tree were hand-stitched bookmarks, which were donated to the Literacy Council after the event.

2004 G.F.W.C Heritage League Tree

The Heritage League's annual tree display was held at the Unitarian Church, 6300 A Street on December 2nd and 3rd. Admission from the event went to help the People's City Mission.

We had over a 100 hand-stitched ornaments on our tree. Many different types of needlework were represented. The ornaments will be for sale at our next show.
