Welcome to the home page of the New Hampshire District of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association  Site under re-construction. Please bear with us while we bring you a New & Improved Gold Wing Road Riders Assn. NH District Web Page.

From The District Director

It hardly seems possible but Labor Day has come and gone, and summer has unofficially ended. We hope that the fall will bring some clear, crisp days, to allow us to enjoy the fall foliage; riding in New England in the fall can be truly beautiful. The summer was certainly a stormy season, we had more rain and thunder storms then we care to remember. Many of us cancelled rides and events due to the uncertain weather patterns. and some of us got caught in a few rain storms, including hail. Let us hope that fall allows us to have some great riding days.

Our District Picnic/Memorial ride is scheduled for Sunday, September 14th, at Wheelock Park in Keene, N.H. We will be providing all the drinks, desserts and paper goods for the event and a facility is available in the event of inclement weather. Members attending will only have to bring a sandwich, or whatever they choose for their lunch. Please remember that each Chapter is responsible to bring their own Memorial Poster. This is a rain and shine event, and the time is from 12:00 noon to 3:00 P.M. We wish to thank Bob and Hazel Young for their assistance in finding us a location. If this event is a success and we decide to make this an annual event, we will book a place earlier in the season, on a weekend that is not the Nascar weekend and hopefully in a more central location.

The District is still in need of a District Educator; if you know of anyone who might be interested in this position please pass their names onto us.

The District web site has been updated; please take a moment to check it out. Special thanks to Andy Tarbell for making this happen. We don’t know how he did it so quickly, but we truly appreciate all his hard work.

Kim and Wayne Ferland have moved to Pennsylvania, Wayne will start his new job on September 8th and hopefully Kim will follow quickly after him! They are renting a small townhouse for this first year, and welcome visitors - and look forward to seeing old friends at GWRRA events around the region.

Their new address is: 20 Stratford Village, Lancaster, PA 17602, Cell phone numbers are: Wayne: 603-359-4341; Kim: 603-443-3906. Internet is scheduled to get hooked up on Sept 2nd - emails for now are: Wayne: wftigger@gmail.com; Kim: babykf@hotmail.com We will miss them and wish them well. Once again we wish to thank them for all their service to the N.H. District. Their hard work along with the other District Directors, efforts contributed to make the New England Rally a huge success.

We are looking for some ideas on what the district could do for our members. We have heard requests for an Experienced Road Course for both bikes and trikes; we are researching the feasibility of having both courses next spring.

Chapter A’s Monte Carlo weekend appears to be coming together nicely. Andy and Mary along with Chapter A members are working very hard to plan a fun filled weekend, before the snow flies. On Saturday the district will offer leadership training in the Instructor Development Certification Program. Certified instructors can then present videos/seminars to other GW members, in order for members to maintain their Rider Education Levels. Previously viewing videos, met this requirement however, now a certified instructor needs to present the video to complete the requirement. Currently we only have one couple in N.H. certified to be a seminar presenter, and we would like to see more people certified. Bob Corriveau R.I. District Trainer is willing to present the training session, if we can get enough participants. The training would last approximately four hours, and participants would have to present a seminar at a later date to become certified. The cost of the training will be minimal, if any (cost would be for food or snacks).

The District Meeting will be held on November 9th at 9:00 A.M. at the Town and Country Hotel in Gorham, N.H. We decided to combine the District Meeting with the Monte Carlo Event so that people could have the opportunity to take advantage of both the event and the meeting in one weekend. We realize that life is very busy and that your time is valuable, we hope in this way to incorporate fun and business in one weekend, and eliminate the need to interrupt another weekend. Please be certain to let us know of any items you wish to discuss at the meeting.

We have attached the following article from the Home Office regarding listings in the Gold Book, you may want to remind members that they may edit their information in the gold book, and that all revisions must be in by October 31st.
